Texas A&M Aggies Add Another 3-Star Recruit With Kaeden Johnson Commit To Amplify Quarterback Competition on Marcel Reed
Texas A&M head coach Mike Elko has been putting pressure on starting quarterback Marcel Reed. Not only is sophomore Myles O'Neill adding to the competition but the class of 2026 recruits will soon test Reed for his starting spot.

After seeking out a 3-star quarterback recruit out of Missouri City, Tex. alongside six other schools, the Aggies landed their 15th commit.

Kaeden Johnson is a 3-star quarterback from Fort Bend Marshall High School who's ranked No. 989 overall, No. 59 overall in his position, and No. 150 out of Texas.
Out of the seven schools he received offers from - UTSA, UTEP, Tuskegee, FIU, Colorado, Washington State, and Texas A&M - he only had official visits with the Aggies and Cougars. He visited Washington State on May 29 and had his last official visit with the Aggies on June 12.
He also had an unofficial visit, according to 247Sports, when attending the Maroon and White spring game. Since then, the Aggies have highly sought out the 3-star recruit, even creating potential roles for him after his senior year of high school. Though recruited as a quarterback, Johnson could also see some time in the tight end position given the competition that will happen for the under center starter.
He joins another quarterback, 4-star Helaman Casuga, from the class of 2026 committed recruits. With the fate of wide receiver Madden Williams and edge Samu Moala as future Aggies being uncertain as they consider flipping their decisions, Elko's recruitment class will need as much help as it can get to stay at the top of recruitment composite rankings. Texas A&M is currently sitting at No. 6 overall with No. 1 USC vying for Williams and Moala.
