Adam Sandler fans rush to watch Happy Gilmore 2 and are 'surprised'

Daily Mirror2 days ago
Adam Sandler is back as Happy Gilmore, with a sequel to the beloved first film now out on Netflix. People have been sharing their reactions, which features a number of celebrity cameos
After nearly three decades, Adam Sandler is back as the hilarious golfer Happy Gilmour, in a sequel film which launched on Netflix last week. Fans have been rushing to watch the much-anticipated second film - and they have been sharing their reactions.

The original film, starring Julie Bowen, Christopher McDonald, Ben Stiller and the late Carl Weathers, became a staple at teenage sleepovers upon its release in 1996. Fans were convinced they would never see the day the rough-around-the-edges golfer would make a comeback, but Happy Gilmore 2 sees its eponymous character return to golf for the first time since defeating Shooter McGavin all those years ago.

There are some fantastic cameos in the film. Golfing legends John Daly, Paige Spiranac, Rory McIlroy, Scottie Scheffler, Bryson DeChambeau, Brooks Koepka, Justin Thomas and Will Zalatoris all make appearances in the movie, released on July 25.

There are also cameos from Oppenheimer's Benny Safdie Oppenheimer, Puerto Rican musician Bad Bunny, and professional wrestlers MJF and Becky Lynch. NFL star Travis Kelce also appears, along with comedic stars Jon Lovitz, Rob Schneider and Steve Buscemi, and musician Post Malone.
Netflix shared a clip of the new film on X and said: "Happy Gilmore 2 is now playing." People rushed to share their thoughts.
Some who haven't watched it yet shared their concerns, as one said: "Why am I afraid this is going to suck?" Another added: "Have low expectations. Hopefully I'm wrong."

But others rushed to reassure fans of the original film that it is worth a watch. One individual said: "Just watched. 10/10." "Loved every second of it," commented another.
One other wrote: "Just stayed up all night to watch before I have to go to work. It was very, very good. As a Shooter fan, thank you Adam Sandler."
Another said: "Been looking forward to it for a while. And it certainly didn't disappoint. It keeps the same high-calibre level of creativity that only the man himself, Adam Sandler can deliver. And the amount of names that take roles is phenomenal."

One other was surprised by how much they enjoyed it. They said: "Genuinely one of the funniest films I have seen in a long time. It's a nostalgic wonder and I love the fact that it keeps the 90's humour alive! I almost want to say they don't make films like this anymore but I'm obviously wrong."
Sharing a detailed review, one other summarised: "Was surprised I actually enjoyed it. Was worried it was going to just be a rehash of the original and its not."
They added: "It's a completely new story with great call backs and great cameos. I'll say it started a little weak but got 10x better as it went on. Is it better than the original? No of course not but it's still very enjoyable."
Happy Gilmore 2 is available to stream on Netflix.

Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway filming Devil Wears Prada sequel minutes from NYC shooting

Hollywood stars Anne Hathaway, Meryl Streep, and Stanley Tucci were filming scenes for the Devil wears Prada sequel just a couple of blocks away and three hours before the mass shooting in New York City Hollywood icons Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway had been filming the sequel to the Devil Wears Prada just three hours before the New York City mass shooting which claimed the lives of four innocent people. Streep and Hathaway were just a mere 15-minute walk away from where the tragedies took place. ‌ A man with a rifle killed an off-duty police officer and three other people before taking his own life on Monday. ‌ The gunman - named in a press conference as Shane Tamura - struck at an office block in Manhattan, New York City, home to large companies such as banks and the National Football League. ‌ Law enforcement officials are currently working to unravel what took place and why this location may have been targeted in the Big Apple. The horrific shooting took place just a couple of blocks away from where Streep and Hathaway have been filming the sequel to the 2006 hit blockbuster. ‌ The Hollywood duo, along with fellow acting legend Stanley Tucci, filmed scenes at 1221 Avenue of the Americas which is only a short 15-minute walk from the scene of the tragedy. The three stars were filming scenes just three hours before the shooting took place. The city had recently announced it was on pace to have its fewest people hurt by gunfire than any year in recent decades. However, it is now mourning those killed, including "hero brother" police officer Didarul Islam. ‌ Colleagues paid tribute to the 36-year-old man, whose wife is pregnant with their third child, at a press conference last night. Tamura exited a double parked BMW with an M4 rifle and then walked toward the building on Monday evening, according to surveillance video. He quickly opened fire on the NYPD officer as he entered the building before shooting a woman who tried to take cover, police Commissioner Jessica Tisch said at a news conference on Monday night. He then started "spraying" the lobby with gunfire. The man went to the elevator bank and shot a security guard who was taking cover behind a security desk and also another man in the lobby, Ms Tisch said. ‌ The man took the lift to the 33rd floor to a real estate management company and one person was shot and killed on that floor. He then walked down a hallway and shot himself, she said. The shooting took place at 345 Park Avenue, a commercial office building in a busy area of midtown that is just a short walk north from Grand Central Terminal and about a block east of St. Patrick's Cathedral. The building's tenants include the NFL and Rudin Management, as well as finance companies KPMG and Blackstone. It also includes the consulate general of Ireland.

And Morticia sees in him all those nervous things about it being your first day at school, which is always traumatic for the person going to school, and also for the parent." She added, "But on a personal level, I don't think I ever didn't cry when I dropped off my kids for the first day of school. Each year, it was something, another challenge for them." ‌ Watch Wednesday on Netflix for free with Sky from £15 Sky Get the deal here Product Description Zeta-Jones, who is married to fellow acting legend Michael Douglas, shares two children with him: Carys Zeta Douglas, aged 22, and Dylan Douglas, aged 24. Netflix exposes hidden WWE area fans never get to see and this is what it's for

Some might know about it but Netflix offers first deep dive into how it works on each WWE show Netflix have uncovered a hidden WWE area that fans never get to see during shows and revealed exactly what it is for. ‌ New docuseries Unreal, now streaming on the platform is revealing some rarely seen insight into the making of the wrestling company. According to its synopsis, fans are invited for the first time ever, to step into the WWE writer's room and outside the ring among other places with their favourite WWE Superstars. ‌ Cameras take viewers where the drama is just as intense offstage as it is under the spotlight across this unique five-part series showing behind the scenes like never before. ‌ One of those areas is a key place where everything is controlled, whether you are watching Raw, Royal Rumble or Wrestlemania. It is known as the Gorilla position. The most dedicated are probably already well aware of this location, but for those who are unfamiliar - it is affectionately named after former wrestler Robert James Marella, who went by the name Gorilla Monsoon. After Monsoon retired from action in the ring, he worked as one of WWE's most popular commentators. ‌ He also spent time as a backstage manager. This is where he would be consistently spotted pulling the strings in the small area between backstage, and the entrance. Hence, why it is now referred to as Gorilla position. It has certainly evolved since those days and even those who know of its existence are perhaps given their first proper look at how it is used for every WWE show. As WWE's Head of Content Paul Levesque, otherwise known as Triple H, explains: Years go when TV production started to become a thing, Gorilla Monsoon a very famous wrestler, he was timing things and controlling things from the area right before talent would walk out to go to the ring. ‌ "That became known as Gorilla Position. Gorilla Position in today's world, it is the epicenter of everything we do. The show is run from there." Bruce Prichard, WWE Executive Director adds: "The Gorilla position is probably the most important position in the arena. You basically control the world that night. Your world., the World Wresting Entertainment is controlled from the Gorilla position. ‌ A diagram is shown of the typical layout of Gorilla position, while workers construct the space from scratch for a production of Raw. Ed Koskey, the SVP of Creative Writing says "The Gorilla positioin is very unique. In every arena, it's custom built, However, the inside and the workings of it are the same. There's primarily three tables set up inside Gorilla position. There's one table where Triple H and Bruce Prichard are sitting. Another table where Billy Kidman, who is our producer responsible for timing out the show and keeping tabs on times. Next to him will sit the respective match producer. ‌ Despite this simple setup, footage shows at least a dozen additional people standing around the three desks, as the match producer calls through the action. It is also pointed out that every single producer at WWE is a former talent with extensive experience of performing in the ring themselves. Match producer Chris Park, used to wrestle under as Abyss and explains his role in Gorilla position. Not only is he making sure viewers at home get the best view and understand what is going on but he is constantly in the ears of the referees. ‌ He says: "So the mechanics during the match for me and the reason I'm wearing a headset is I'm talking to the truck, keeping them about 10 or 15 seconds ahead of what's going on in the ring so that the cameras capture the story that we're trying to tell. "Another thing I'm doing on that headset as well is I'm talking to the referees, the referees can hear me." Whatever producers need to tell talent, whether it is to speed up, increase energy or make their mark, the message is delivered via the referees. They are also able to give feedback on the wrestlers' wellbeing. Triple H concludes: "Our business is telling stories and the epicentre of making that happen in real time, live, is Gorilla position."
