Colorado football offers multiple currently committed 2026 recruits

Yahoo4 days ago
Colorado's 2026 recruiting class has been developing slowly, ranking No. 80 in the nation, according to 247 Sports. However, the Buffaloes aren't out of time and are still sending out offers to impactful players.
On Wednesday, the Buffaloes offered three-star defensive lineman and current Kentucky commit Ben Duncum and three-star offensive tackle and San Jose State commit Josiah Manu. Both have been committed to their schools for over a month, and neither has visited Boulder.
Still, the name, image and likeness era delivers surprise commitment flips every day, and there's a good chance that the Buffaloes might be able to flip one or both before the end of the season. Duncum is especially intriguing as a prospect and could be a candidate to be elevated to four-star status.
Out of Lake Travis High School in Texas, Duncum has a motor that doesn't stop and size that would allow him to fit into whatever role the Buffaloes need. At 6-foot-5 and only 255, Duncum will need to add weight to perform at the next level, but he's proven himself at that size.
In his junior season, he racked up 61 total tackles, an impressive mark for a defensive lineman. What's not as encouraging is his pass-rushing stats; of the 61 total tackles, only five were tackles for loss and two were sacks. He does possess a knack for finding the ball, forcing two fumbles.
A local product out of Loveland, Colorado, Manu appears on paper to be the prospect the Buffaloes could flip the easiest. Aside from the proximity to home, Buffaloes are Manu's second power-four offer, with the other being fellow Big 12 school Arizona.
Standing at 6-foot-5 and 295, Manu already brings elite size for a freshman at the position. A two-way player in high school, Manu has a lot of bend and wins a lot of his matchups by simply being stronger than his opponent. Like Duncum, Manu's motor doesn't quit, and he routinely finishes blocks to the turf.
Both sides of the trenches are key for the Buffaloes to continue their ascent, not just in the Big 12, but in the college football world as a whole. A flip from either of these recruits to Colorado would be a significant addition to a recruiting class that has not met the quality we have come to expect from head coach Deion Sanders.

College football recruiting rankings have a new No. 1

The Georgia Bulldogs have the best recruiting class in the SEC for several weeks and now, after a recent recruiting rankings update, the Dawgs have the best recruiting class in the country. Georgia recently surpassed the USC Trojans. USC had held the nation's top recruiting class for several months. The Big Ten has three of the nation's top 10 recruiting classes while the SEC has five top 10 recruiting classes including four of the top six. Of course, it is still early in the process for the class of 2026. The early signing period does not begin until December and recruiting powerhouses need to prove themselves on the field this fall in order to secure top recruiting classes. Despite having the top ranked recruiting class, Georgia is no lock to finish the cycle with the best recruiting class. Georgia has more commitments than any other team with a top 10 recruiting class outside of USC. Additionally, Georgia's average commitment is ranked lower than the average LSU, Alabama or Oregon commitment. The LSU Tigers have just 16 commitments, but have the highest ranked average commitment (93.67) of any top 10 recruiting team on 247Sports. Class of 2026 college football recruiting rankings Georgia Bulldogs (30 commitments) USC Trojans (31 commitments) Texas A&M Aggies (23 commitments) Alabama Crimson Tide (21 commitments) Notre Dame Fighting Irish (26 commitments) Texas Longhorns (26 commitments) Ohio State Buckeyes (21 commitments) LSU Tigers (16 commitments) Michigan Wolverines (21 commitments) Miami Hurricanes (22 commitments) All recruiting rankings are per 247Sports and are as of July 27. Commanders QB Jayden Daniels 'striving to be a perfect player'

A popular topic in a boring offseason for some was to predict that Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels would have a sophomore slump in 2025. Washington coaches and teammates disagree with that assessment because they see Daniels every day. Teammates and coaches see Daniels arrive first at the facility. They see Daniels never placing himself above the team, always rooting his teammates on, from long snapper Tyler Ott to star wide receiver Terry McLaurin. They also see how hard he works, not just in the weight room and on the practice field, but in the meeting rooms, too. Daniels is always looking for ways to improve and gain an edge over that week's opponent. ESPN SportsCenter visited Washington's training camp on Sunday, and Daniels joined the set where he discussed everything from staying grounded to his expectations for himself. "I think it's the humility part, being grounded and never letting your ego, especially in the quarterback room, we always say, 'Check your egos at the door,' and that's the main thing they harp on," Daniels said. "Because everybody has egos. Everybody is selfish in their own ways. As human beings, that's just human nature. But for us, it's like, 'How can I just go out there and take that away from me?' Push the ego out of the way, and how can I be able to grow and get better because I still got so much to learn. I'm striving to be a perfect player." How many other young quarterbacks talk like that? Daniels is different. After coming off a record-breaking rookie year in which he led Washington to its best season in 33 years, Daniels is looking for ways to get better. He's looking for ways to get past the Eagles. While no human being is perfect, on and off the field, there's nothing wrong with striving to be perfect. Good luck to those who predicted a sophomore slump. This article originally appeared on Commanders Wire: Commanders QB Jayden Daniels 'striving to be a perfect player'
