'Best response ever': Royal Family's very surprising comment on viral parody of Meghan and Harry's cringey 'Baby Momma' dance video
British reality stars Jamie Laing, 36, and his pregnant wife Sophie Habboo, 30, filmed themselves recreating the now-infamous clip on the Grand Staircase of Buckingham Palace during an event hosted by King Charles III.
The couple, who rose to fame on Made in Chelsea and now cohost a BBC Radio 1 show, were attending a reception on Wednesday afternoon to celebrate winners of the King's Trust Awards, an event recognising young people who have overcome adversity and made positive contributions to their communities.
Also in attendance were high-profile ambassadors of the King's charity, including George and Amal Clooney, Dame Joanna Lumley, Charlotte Tilbury, and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley.
"They said we couldn't film in Buckingham Palace," the father-to-be cheekily captioned the video on Instagram.
But to the surprise of his 1.6 million followers, and likely the couple themselves, the Royal Family's official Instagram account commented: "We see you" with an open eyes and wink face emoji.
The King's Trust account also chimed in, writing: "All of our attendees are very well behaved."
The unexpected exchange quickly attracted thousands of likes and widespread praise from royal watchers, with many calling it "the best response ever".
"@theroyalfamily best response ever! This really made me laugh," one user wrote, while another added: "This is brilliant!"
A third chimed in: "@theroyalfamily in a world at times worrying and serious, this comment was so needed."
British broadcaster Fearne Cotton, who also attended the palace reception, joined in on the banter, writing: "You also had your pap camera out with a flash. Think of what the flash has done to those priceless paintings."
Even Formula One star Lando Norris reacted to the video, dropping a laughing emoji in the comments.
While the Royal Family's social media account is run by staffers, it's understood that such comments are unlikely to be posted without senior approval.
It comes as Prince Harry, 40, recently admitted his father "won't speak" to him, as tensions between the Sussexes and the monarchy continue to simmer.
Harry and Meghan stepped back from royal duties in 2020 and now live in Montecito, California, with their two children, Prince Archie, six, and Princess Lilibet, four.
Earlier this month, Meghan posted a throwback clip celebrating Lilibet's birthday, showing her and Harry dancing in hospital to the "Baby Momma Dance Song" ahead of her giving birth.
Meghan spoke about the now-viral moment during a recent interview on entrepreneur Emma Grede's Aspire podcast.
"You have to be authentic," Meghan told Grede.
"Did you see my Baby Momma dance?"
Later in the interview, she reflected on how public perception of her has shifted over time.
Grede asked: "If you could rewrite your public narrative from scratch, is there anything that you would do differently?"
Meghan replied without hesitation: "Yes, I would ask people to tell the truth."

Jillian Michaels has rubbished allegations made against her on Fit for TV: The Reality of the Biggest Loser. The 51-year-old fitness trainer previously starred on The Biggest Loser, the NBC reality series that featured overweight contestants striving to lose weight in order to win a cash prize, and Jillian has now rubbished a series of claims made about her on Netflix's Fit for TV, which tells the behind-the-scenes story of the show's success. Alongside an old email chain from her time on the show, Jillian wrote on Instagram: "Here is an email chain with @bobharper - the Biggest Loser's producers - @drhuizenga's guy, Sandy Krum, who stayed on set with us and distributed the fat burners about which "fat burners" / caffeine pills to purchase the contestants. This is one email of many that shows: "- Dr. Huizenga did approve caffeine pills on many seasons of Biggest Loser. "- Bob Harper not only knew about the caffeine pills the 'stackers fat burner' were actually his suggestion. I wanted to use my brand instead because they were cleaner and had no more than 200mg of caffeine (equivalent to a strong cup of coffee). "- Caffeine was NEVER banned on The Biggest Loser. And with that, the ability to exercise, a straight line down. So when they do a physical challenge that puts people in harm's way, that's where I have to step in." Regardless of any policy outcomes, the roundtable has been a first-rate networking opportunity. Among the invitees were Reserve Bank governor Michele Bullock, tech billionaire Scott Farquhar and Commonwealth Bank boss Matt Comyn. But our favourite participant was independent economist Chris Richardson, who added some colour to the deliberations on productivity, regulatory reform and budget sustainability. When Richardson first received a coveted invitation to the roundtable, he compared it to one of the golden tickets to Willy Wonka's chocolate factory. He then posted a photo on his way to Canberra – from a Murrays bus – and reframed the roundtable as Canberra Glastonbury rather than Coachella because 'it's cold, wet and muddy, and a few of the stars on stage are ageing (like me)'. Richardson even let us in on his roundtable playlist for the bus trip, including Spandau Ballet's Gold, while reading Productivity Commission reports. We haven't heard whether any other round-tablers, say Bullock, Farquhar or Comyn, caught the bus. Move over NIMBY and YIMBY Move over ' skibidi toilet ', 'delulu', 'trad wife' and the other new words added to this year's Cambridge Dictionary. When it comes to housing, we've all heard of NIMBYs (not in my backyard) and their nemesis, YIMBYs (yes in my backyard). Now there's another housing-based acronym on the block. It's 'TIMBYs', and it stands for 'thoughtfully in my backyard'. TIMBY is being promoted by the good people of the National Trust of Australia's Victorian branch and the Royal Historical Society of Victoria. They say TIMBY is a 'balanced, inclusive approach that delivers more housing while respecting heritage, character, and community values'. This all sounds very sensible.
