Thackeray brothers unite! 'Uddhav and Raj to contest civic elections together,' says Sanjay Raut

are set to contest civic elections together in at least four Maharashtra districts, Sanjay Raut said on Friday. He further informed that the discussions to form an alliance with MNS were under way.
"The Thackeray brothers (Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray and
Raj Thackeray
) will contest the municipal corporation elections in Mumbai, Thane, Nashik and Kalyan-Dombivali together and win," PTI quoted Raut saying.
"The strength of Raj and Uddhav Thackeray is the strength of the unity of the Marathi-speakers. No power cannot break the iron fist of `Marathi manus' now," he added.
However, Maharashtra minister and BJP leader Girish Mahajan accused the Sena (UBT) of remembering Marathi-speakers only during election season, adding that last year's assembly results showed Marathi voters largely backed the BJP and were not swayed by attempts to mislead them.
Moreover, the state BJP legislator Pravin Darekar wondered whether it was true or just Raut's "guesswork".
"We have not seen so much helplessness in Uddhav Thackeray, who did not remember his own cousin, MNS chief Raj Thackeray for the last 20 years," he said.

Patna: Bharatiya Janata Party National Secretary Rituraj Sinha has launched a sharp attack on the INDIA bloc's Voter Adhikar Yatra, led by Rahul Gandhi and Tejashwi Yadav, dismissing it as a 'Fake Voter Protection Yatra'. Sinha alleged that the yatra was not about protecting democratic rights but a well-planned conspiracy to safeguard duplicate voter cards, the names of deceased persons, and votes of illegal infiltrators. He questioned Rahul Gandhi directly, asking: 'Does Rahul Gandhi stand with those seven lakh fake voters identified by the Election Commission? Or does he justify voting in the name of 22 lakh dead people?' Claiming the campaign was designed to defend illegal residents in Bihar, Sinha said such infiltrators not only distort the vote bank but also pose a threat to the state's social fabric and security. 'Does Rahul Gandhi want to save the votes of infiltrators or protect the borders of the country?' he asked. Rahul Gandhi to kickstart 'Voter Adhikar Yatra' from Bihar's Sasaram today
Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi will on Sunday begin from here his 1,300 km-long 'Voter Adhikar Yatra' that will cover over 20 districts in Bihar, as the Congress steps up its campaign against what it claims to be "vote chori". With the Assembly polls barely three months away, Gandhi, along with RJD's Tejashwi Yadav and other Mahagathbandhan leaders, will launch the yatra from BIADA Ground Sasaram, and after 16 days, the yatra will conclude with a rally in Patna on September 1. Gandhi is also expected to address a gathering later this evening at Ramesh Chowk, Aurangabad. In a post in Hindi on X on Saturday, Gandhi had said, "16 days, 20+ districts, 1,300+ km. We are coming among the people with the Voter Adhikar Yatra. This is a fight to protect the most basic democratic right - 'one person, one vote'." "Join us in Bihar to save the Constitution," he added. The 'yatra' will be in a hybrid mode, on foot and by vehicle, as was Gandhi's Manipur to Mumbai Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra ahead of the Lok Sabha polls, party leaders said. He had alleged that it was a conspiracy to not only steal our votes, but also steal our identity. Khera had also said that the Election Commission becoming like one of the "compartments" of the BJP's so called "double engine" was unacceptable and the Congress will not let that happen.
