Longtime Browns RB and legend Nick Chubb expected to sign with Texans
We have likely seen the last of running back Nick Chubb in a Cleveland Browns uniform.
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport has reported that, barring a bad physical, the former All-Pro running back is expected to sign with the Houston Texans on Monday. This comes after Chubb suffered season-ending injuries in back-to-back seasons to end his time in Cleveland. This includes a devastating tear of his ACL and MCL in 2023.
The writing was on the wall in Cleveland at the end of April. The Browns drafted not one, but two running backs in the middle rounds of the 2025 NFL draft. They used a top-40 pick on Ohio State running back Quinshon Judkins, then turned around to use their fourth round pick on Tennessee's Dylan Sampson. The Browns also renegotiated the final year of Jerome Ford's contract to lower his base salary, effectively securing his roster spot.
The Browns have committed to overhauling their running back room with youth.
Chubb ends his time in Cleveland with over 6,800 yards and 51 touchdowns on the ground. He made four Pro Bowls during his time in Northeast Ohio. He will forever go down as one of the best to put on the brown and orange uniform over his seven years spent in Cleveland.
Best of luck to a Cleveland legend as he looks to rejuvenate his career in Houston.

Tony Grossi Has Words for Shedeur Sanders Hype: ‘He's a Developmental QB'

Tony Grossi Has Words for Shedeur Sanders Hype: 'He's a Developmental QB' originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The honeymoon phase for Shedeur Sanders in Cleveland might be short-lived, at least if you ask longtime Browns analyst Tony Grossi. Advertisement As hype continues to swell around the Colorado Buffaloes legend following his selection in the fifth round of the 2025 NFL Draft, Grossi is stepping in with a reality check. Appearing on 850 ESPN Cleveland, the veteran radio personality made it clear: the media is overhyping Sanders' early flashes, and it could be doing the young quarterback more harm than good. Cleveland Browns quarterback Shedeur Sanders (12) catches a ballKen Blaze-Imagn Images 'The media are doing Shedeur a disservice by inflating where he's at right now,' Grossi said. 'He's a developmental quarterback, just like Dillon Gabriel—he's not a franchise quarterback.' Grossi's words were blunt but calculated. While many headlines are praising Sanders' accuracy in open OTAs, Grossi says the narrative doesn't match the reps. Sanders is the only QB in the Browns' room not taking consistent snaps with the starters, a telling sign for a team actively evaluating its future at the position. Advertisement Despite being one of the most high-profile names in college football under Coach Deion 'Prime' Sanders at Colorado, Shedeur slid to the fifth round in April. He now finds himself behind Super Bowl MVP Joe Flacco, journeyman Kenny Pickett, and Oregon standout Dillon Gabriel, who, it's worth noting, was drafted before Sanders. Grossi didn't mince words on the depth chart either. 'Overinflating expectations is just not good,' he added. 'He's not close to being QB1.' This might feel like a gut punch to Colorado fans who watched Sanders throw for 4,134 yards and 37 touchdowns in 2024 despite playing behind one of the most porous offensive lines in college football. Still, Grossi's point isn't about talent, it's about timing and development. Advertisement The Cleveland Browns are notoriously cautious with quarterbacks, and with Flacco likely serving as a bridge, the team can afford to let Sanders mature behind the scenes. That's not the narrative fans want, but it may be the one that sets Shedeur up for long-term success. Colorado fans know what Shedeur can do. They've seen him perform under pressure, carry a program in transition, and silence critics with his arm and poise. If there's anything we've learned from Shedeur Sanders' journey so far, it's this: doubt him at your own risk. So, let's keep receipts. Whether Grossi is spot on or shortsighted, time, and Shedeur will tell. Myles Garrett Opens Up About Departure Of Teammate

Myles Garrett Opens Up About Departure Of Teammate originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Nick Chubb possessed all the tools of a bell cow backfield star from what he showed in 2019 through 2022. That all changed after a gruesome leg injury ended his 2023 campaign in the second game of the season. Advertisement Chubb's return to the field last season was lackluster at best, averaging 3.3 yards per carry on 102 touches in a reserved rile with the Cleveland Browns. It was a sharp and set turn of fate for Chubb who was set to be a cornerstone piece of the franchise's built to consistent contention. But just two years after that Week 2 contest in September of 2023, Chubb was an offseason afterthought eventually scooped up by the Houston Texans. It's the harsh reality of the NFL and one that his own teammates had trouble coming to terms with. Browns defensive star Myles Garrett opened up about his time with Chubb, revealing his own efforts pleading with the higher ups to keep his teammate in town. 'That was part of my talks with (Andrew Berry) a couple of months ago, asking about the situation with Nick and how that's going to work out, and how we can get him back here,' Garrett said. 'I know he means a lot to the fans, but he means a lot to us in the locker room. So, it's an emotional blow to not have him here." Advertisement After it all, Garrett has nothing but praise for Chubb though he knows there is a crop of players ready and able to positively impact this Browns offense. 'But we've got to keep on moving, keep on trucking. We've got some very talented backs in that room, some young, hungry guys who have a hell of an example to watch and some shoes to fill. But he's one of the best to ever do it in the Brown and Orange, and we appreciate everything he's done.' Looking through a more positive lens, this is the second chance Chubb yearned for all offseason and advocated for through his own promotion. If he can build off that momentum and make an impact in Houston, that achievement should be celebrated. However, it will be hard for Garrett, his teammates and Browns fans not to wonder what could have been had his career not taken such a nasty turn.
