Yet 45 per cent of all adults - rising to 56 per cent of Millennials - would be delighted if they were to get ID'ed at their current age.
But the average age the ID proof requests stop was around 27 years old – two years before the average age they'd like to still be asked.
More than half (59 per cent) would be delighted if a shop assistant checked their age as it'd make them feel young, while 39 per cent admitted it boosts their confidence – and 30 per cent think it makes for a great story.
While 12 per cent secretly love the drama of pulling out their formal identification.

With Millennials, those aged 28 to 44, the most likely to immediately start bragging to friends and family if it happened to them now (56 per cent compared to 36 per cent of Boomers).
The research was commissioned by PopWorks, which in collaboration with Malibu, has created Pina Colada flavoured popped corn snacks - which the brand is cheekily asking customers to provide ID for before purchase.
The snack brand took over the All Good Convenience Store in London's Victoria and asked customers of different ages to show ID for various items to see which age groups were disappointed - or delighted - to be asked.
Maggie Saint John, from PopWorks, said: "It's funny how things change.

'You hit a certain age - 29 to be exact - and suddenly being ID'd feels like a compliment, when many of us spent years before dreading it.
'But no matter your age, whether you love or hate flashing your ID, it's not an issue with our new popped corn snack, they're totally alcohol free.'
Non-league club labelled 'absolute class' as they rock up to FA Cup tie in bizarre pina colada kit
The new flavour comes after research revealed a Pina Colada is one of the top three go-to summer cocktails.
With 54 per cent claiming the cocktail flavour reminds them of being on holiday.

Gui Pascuilli, head of culture & partnership at Malibu, added: 'With summer arriving, people crave that first sip of a Piña Colada to kick off the season. But why limit that feeling to the beach?
'We love inspiring people to enjoy their time off in unexpected ways.'

Kristin Cavallari's ample chest almost spills out of a low-cut dress… after dishing on Glen Powell hookup

Kristin Cavallari put on a busty display in a low-cut black dress in new images shared on Wednesday. The Hills reality TV star was going out of her way to show off her surgically enhanced chest that looked bigger than usual. The 38-year-old blonde seemed to almost spill out of the frock as her chest appeared oiled up to accentuate her fresh Malibu tan. Her hair was worn back and she had on cute gold earrings and a chunky watch as well as black strappy criss-cross heels. Kristin was exiting Andy Cohen 's Watch What Happens Live taping in New York City 's Hudson Square. On Thursday the mother-of-three flashed her toned figure in a plunging beige sleeveless top and short shorts with high heels and a YSL purse as she walked in Manhattan. The Uncommon James jewelry designer has been a perennial headline-maker in recent months on her podcase. Her latest reveal was how she had a sexual experience with Top Gun: Maverick actor Glen Powell. Cavallari said she was 'dry humping' the Hollywood superstar after they secretly hooked up on a wild trip to Greece. The diva dropped the bombshell during the premiere episode of her new E! series Honestly Cavallari on Wednesday. The cameras followed her podcast tour including her first stop in Atlanta, where she had a colorful chat with Real Housewives of Atlanta star Kim Zolciak in front of a packed crowd. Kristin's best friend Justin also joined the show, where he eagerly spilled the tea about the single mom's date with A-lister Powell. 'She recently went on a date with... she's gonna be so mad at me, actually, with Glen Powell, and I wanted it to happen so bad!' Justin said as Kristin screamed, 'Justin!' The show then featured a clip from four days earlier with Kristin and Justin explaining that they were, 'partying in Greece ' when Powell, '36, 'literally ran into [her].' Justin joked, 'And then you guys had a really fun night together,' as Kristin admitted, 'I never f***ed him, just putting that out there.' Justin then asked, 'You guys dry humped, though?' After a pause Kristin smiled and said, 'Yeah, we did,' as they both laughed. Back in Atlanta, Kristin told the crowd, 'OK, I have to go on record, when this comes out, I had nothing to f***ing do with it!' She was also asked about the Glen Powell date/dry humping session on Watch What Happens Live after the premiere. She was asked by a virtual fan how she would rate Powell as a kisser on a scale of 1 to 10, but she played coy. 'Oh my God, you guys. I don't know what you're talking about,' she said with a laugh. Cohen then mentioned that she did admit to dry humping Powell on her show, which would lead people to believe that they kissed, but she played coy again. 'Did I say that? Maybe we didn't kiss?' Cavallari said with a laugh, but Cohen asked how good of a dry humper he was, on a scale from 1 to 10. 'I'm not answering this question,' Cavallari said, before admitting that there were 'jeans' involved, but adding, 'I'm not saying too much.' Before the Glen Powell admission, a fan asked how she dates as a single mother of three kids. 'It's been a lot with my kids, in the last year. I now have them a lot more than I did, and so dating, it hasn't been the priority,' Cavallari admitted. 'But in nine years, when my kids are off at college, I'm gonna be all over the world, with all the guys, doing all the things,' she said. The show also opens with a glimpse into Cavallari's home life, revealing her nine-day tour will be the longest she won't be seeing her kids in over a year. 'It's podcast tour week. I'm not gonna see them for nine days, which is... That's a long stretch. We used to do week on, week off. 50-50 custody, but that changed over a year ago,' she said. She also added on WWHL that her kids had been asking her for 'the last couple of years' to post pictures of them on social media and include them in her shows, but she wanted to wait until they were the right age. 'So I've just been waiting for them to be old enough to make the decision. Yes they've been asking me for the last couple of years to post them and all these things. They really wanted to be part of the show,' she said. She added, 'They filmed for two days. I think they're in maybe three scenes. It's very minimal, but they loved it and they had fun. And so, yeah, I'm happy to be able to share that part of my world now.' 'So, this will be the longest that I've gone without seeing them in, like, a year, and that's gonna be hard,' she admitted. 'I think deep down I knew, um, I was very unhappy at that point in my life and really stressed out. And my kids were young, so it's not like they were seeing headlines or anything,' she said of her relationship with ex Jay Cutler. 'But now my kids are 12, 10, and 9, and that's my priority right now. I see little bits of me in all of them, actually. They get all their good qualities from me,' she joked. Cavallari and Cutler were married from 2013 until their split in 2020. Cavallari and Cutler's divorce was finalized in June 2022. She was also briefly linked to country singer Chase Rice in late 2021. That same year, Kristin also addressed rumors that she dated Morgan Wallen. She later confirmed that they did got on a date and claimed that the singer is 'good in bed.' More recently, Kristin dated former NHL star Nate Thompson. Despite the relationship being the 'most honest, pure, amazing' one she's had, Cavallari parted way with Thompson in March because she came to the realization that she 'didn't wanna be in a relationship.' As for Kristin's hot date Glen Powell, the A-list star has been linked to a slew of famous beauties since bursting onto the Hollywood scene in the early 2000s. Powell's first famous girlfriend was Vampire Diaries star Nina Dobrev, 36. The duo first started dating in early 2017 but their romance fizzled out by that December. Nearly a year after his breakup with Dobrev, Powell moved on with Australian TV host Renee Bargh in 2018.

Diddy trial: Woman who says Sean Combs dangled her over balcony continues giving evidence - with key witness to follow

Follow this page for updates from the sex-trafficking trial of Sean 'Diddy' Combs. A key witness in the trial is expected to give evidence later - after a woman who claims Combs dangled her over a balcony. The rapper denies all the charges. 16:52:01 Defence attempts to show inconsistencies over alleged balcony incident Questioning turns to the alleged balcony incident - Bryana Bongolan previously told the court she was hung over the edge of a 17th floor balcony by Sean "Diddy" Combs in 2016. Defence lawyer Nicole Westmoreland is attempting to show inconsistencies between statements in court and statements to investigators beforehand, as well as a lawsuit she filed against Diddy in 2024. Bongolan maintains in court again now that Combs held her over the balcony and then threw her into furniture. Asked if she told government investigators that the incident was witnessed by Cassie, she says she doesn't recall. She tells the court again that she hurt her leg, neck and back in the incident, and suffered night terrors and nightmares afterwards. 16:37:34 Witness questioned on friendship with Cassie after alleged Diddy threat First up is a picture of witness Bryana Bongolan and Cassie Ventura taken at a photo shoot in Malibu in April 2016. Bongolan says she was threatened by Sean "Diddy" Combs during this trip. Defence lawyer Nicole Westmoreland then asks about two photos she sent to Cassie in text messages on separate occasions in the following weeks. They both show drugs, although Bongolan does not know what kind of drugs. She says that yes, she continued her friendship with Cassie despite the alleged threats by Diddy. "You're telling us Sean Combs threatened your life a few weeks before the post?" Westmoreland asks. "Yes, ma'am," Bongolan replies. "Continuing on dealing with Cassie, weren't you scared to do that?" "I guess not." 16:23:04 Day 17 - court is in session Witness Bryana Bongolan is coming back to the stand and jurors are returning to the courtroom. Bongolan, a friend of Cassie Ventura's, will be cross-examined by defence lawyer Nicole Westmoreland. 16:06:30 Media complains over access to 'Jane' exhibits There is some legal discussion taking place before the jury is called back in today. It follows a request from media organisations protesting a decision by Judge Arun Subramanian on access to exhibits related to Jane's testimony. "The news organisations recognise that this trial involves serious privacy considerations that may justify limiting access to graphic sexual content and witness-identifying information in particularised cases," a letter submitted to the court earlier this week said. However, it went on to add that it "is nearly impossible for even the most sophisticated reporters to understand and accurately report on these criminal proceedings without seeing the documentary exhibits as they are being discussed". The judge says text messages will be read aloud in court. 15:34:17 Diddy trial: Day 17 - what to expect Bryana Bongolan, who alleges she was dangled over the edge of a 17th-floor apartment balcony by Sean Combs in 2016, will return to the stand to finish her testimony today. Afterwards, a former girlfriend of Diddy's - who is using the pseudonym "Jane" - is expected to begin what lawyers have said will be several days of testimony. Jane was allegedly engaged in commercial sex acts "as a result of force, fraud or coercion" by the hip-hop mogul. "The defendant used lies, drugs, threats, and violence to force and coerce, first, Cassie, and later Jane, to have sex with him in front of male escorts," prosecutors said in their opening statement at the beginning of the trial. "The defendant insisted that the sex occur in a very specific, highly orchestrated way. These sexual performances lasted multiple days and they involved multiple escorts." Like the testimony of Combs's former long-term partner Cassie, Jane's evidence will be crucial to this case. 15:17:32 A reminder of the charges Here's a reminder of the five felony charges faced by Sean "Diddy" Combs: Racketeering conspiracy; Two counts of sex trafficking by force, fraud or coercion; Two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution. The rapper was initially charged with three offences - racketeering, sex trafficking, and transportation to engage in prostitution. Two extra counts - one each of sex trafficking and transportation to engage in prostitution - were added earlier in April. Combs has pleaded not guilty to all charges. What the charges mean Racketeering broadly means engaging in an illegal scheme or enterprise, and the charge falls under the Racketeering Influenced and Corrupt Organisations Act (RICO) in the US. According to the US justice department's definition of RICO statute, it is also illegal to "conspire to violate" the laws. The prosecution alleges that between 2008 and 2024, Combs "led a racketeering conspiracy that engaged in sex trafficking, forced labour, kidnapping, arson, bribery, and obstruction of justice, among other crimes". He faces between 15 years and life in prison if found guilty. 11:28:17 Diddy trial: Witness says 'devil' Combs dangled her from balcony and threw knife at Cassie, court hears We are back with our coverage of the trial of hip-hop mogul Sean "Diddy" Combs. Proceedings at the federal court in Manhattan are starting a little later today, at about 4pm UK time, so we'll be bringing you all the latest with rolling updates later today. For now, here's a recap of the latest developments in the trial... Yesterday, the court heard from a friend of Cassie Ventura, Bryana Bongolan, who alleges Diddy dangled her over the edge of a 17th-floor apartment balcony in 2016. She will be back on the stand later today to finish her testimony before the next witness is called. Bongolan told the court yesterday that the mental effects of the alleged assault by Diddy left her with night terrors, and that there were times when she would scream in her sleep. She also said she witnessed the rapper throwing a knife at Cassie during a violent outburst at her apartment on another occasion. Cassie picked up the knife and hurled it back at him, and both their throws missed, Bongolan said. In another alleged incident, she said Diddy told her: "I am the devil and I can kill you." Combs has pleaded not guilty to five criminal counts - one count of racketeering conspiracy, two counts of sex trafficking by force, fraud or coercion, and two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution. Another alleged victim, who is using the pseudonym "Jane", is expected to take the stand either today or tomorrow. She dated Diddy and claims that, like Cassie, she was coerced into "freak off" sex sessions. We'll be back with live updates later this afternoon. 17:00:58 Live coverage of the Diddy trial this week After three weeks of dedicated reporting on the Sean "Diddy" Combs trial - covering key witnesses including Cassie Ventura and "Mia", another alleged victim, as well rapper Kid Cudi and former employees of the hip-hop mogul - we have paused our coverage this week as other news events have dominated. Mia, a former assistant to Combs who is using a pseudonym and not being identified, finished her evidence on Monday after three days on the witness stand. In their cross-examination, the defence repeatedly asked her why she stayed working for Combs despite the alleged assaults she says she endured."Because when he was happy, I was safe," she told the court. Sylvia Oken, area director of sales and marketing at the Beverly Hills Hotel, also took the stand. Today, the court is hearing from Eddy Garcia, who worked at another Los Angeles hotel, where Combs was filmed on CCTV allegedly attacking Cassie, his then girlfriend, in March 2016. Here's a reminder of the charges Combs faces - which he has strenuously denied. One count of racketeering conspiracy Two counts of sex trafficking by force, fraud or coercion Two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution We will resume our live coverage when the next alleged victim - Jane, a former girlfriend of Combs's who is also using a pseudonym - begins her testimony, which is expected later this week. 21:13:42 What you need to know after day 13 of Diddy's trial - scroll down to catch up That's all for our live coverage today. Earlier, Sean "Diddy" Combs's former assistant continued testifying under the pseudonym "Mia" before his defence started cross-examination. If you're just checking in, here's a recap of what we heard today: Mia said she was "put in the middle" after Cassie found out that Diddy was "cheating" on her when she saw a video showing Combs with another woman; Jurors were shown text messages between Mia and Diddy's former chief of staff, with Mia explaining her "night terrors" about the rapper and saying he threatened to kill her; In a WhatsApp exchange between Diddy and Mia, he threatened to "tell everything" and said "let's go to war" if Mia didn't respond to his messages; Mia recalled a trip to the Caribbean island St Barts on New Year's Eve in 2010, describing a moment when she was told to count the money in Diddy's safe on a yacht. She said he became "really angry" and accused her of counting too slowly; Diddy's former assistant also told jurors she hasn't been able to return to work because she suffers from "severe, complex PTSD"; As cross-examination began, Diddy's defence attorney quizzed Mia on a range of social media posts which featured the rapper and often included glowing captions; Mia defended the posts by describing the situation as "very confusing" and saying "I didn't want my family and friends to know the misery I was in"; Diddy's defence attorney asked Mia to read the captions to some of her posts out loud to jurors, which included phrases like "we f****** love you" and one that described him as a "legend"; Mia was also presented in court with a scrapbook she made for Combs's 45th birthday, containing a note which said "I love you forever". Mia told jurors she was afraid Combs would kill her and said that making the scrapbook was "a lot more complicated on all levels". The trial will resume on Monday as Mia's cross-examination continues. We'll see you back here then.

In the aptly named Kent town of Deal, National Fish and Chip Day was celebrated with 300 portions of chips given away, as well as a limited run of battered fish. The Dacia Spring, which its makers say is the cheapest electric vehicle currently on the market, was the power behind the frying, in partnership with local chippy, The Blue Mermaid Fish Bar. It comes after a poll of 2,000 adults found fish and chips is the most popular treat on a British holiday, as well as cream tea and hot doughnuts. Others to feature in the top 20 list include Mr Whippy ice cream, Cornish pasties and mussels. Quintessentially British foods, such as fish finger sandwiches, strawberries and cream and a pie and mash also featured in the ranking. A spokesperson for car brand Dacia said: 'It was fun treating passers-by today and showing the power of our electric car, Spring, using its vehicle to load technology, which allows you to power external devices off the car's battery. 'It's no surprise we have a national day dedicated to the iconic meal that is fish and chips and the study shows just how much we love it and associate it with holidays by the seaside. 'Playing on the phrase 'cheap as chips' in line with our affordable car and being in the appropriately named Deal, was a great way to celebrate National Fish and Chip Day.' The research also found 41% of adults describe such foods as nostalgic, while 45% feel satisfied after eating them. When ordering a classic fish and chips, cod (48%) and haddock (19%) were the most popular choices, but 69% simply order a portion of chips. It also emerged 44% believe fish and chips is the 'food of the people' and 39% said class doesn't impact how people eat it. While 46% feel there is something nostalgic about eating the British staple with a wooden fork, which 33% typically do, although 38% opt to eat it by hand. Food psychologist, James Cornish, said: 'There are few things that unite the British public quite like fish and chips. 'Golden, salty, comforting, and steeped in history, this timeless dish is more than a meal - it's a national treasure. 'Loved across generations, social classes, and regions, it's one of those rare things that truly brings us together. 'There's a certain kind of magic in fish and chips - a simple meal that somehow carries the weight of memory, comfort, and delight. 'Maybe it's because we don't expect too much from humble food, but our delight is excelled through the delivering of more than we expected.'
