NFL Top 100: Seahawks QB Sam Darnold makes debut at No. 72, faces Cardinals twice
Last week, the NFL had its third week of revealing players in the "NFL Top 100." After two players were revealed on Monday and another on Tuesday the Arizona Cardinals will face in 2025, a fourth was revealed later in the week, one who will see the Cardinals twice in 2025. On Friday, a fifth, also someone in the NFC West was revealed at No. 72.
That would be Seattle Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold, who played last season for the Minnesota Vikings.
It was his career debut in the top 100.
He became the first starting quarterback ever to win 14 games in his first year with the team.
Vikings receiver Justin Jefferson, Darnold's teammate in 2024, said that Darnold throws the ball "effortlessly."
"Just a flick of the wrist and it's traveling 60 yards," he said. He also said that his "deep-throw accuracy is phenomenal."
Former Vikings teammate safety Cam Bynum joked that players like to call Darnold Sammy Vick, pointing out how athletic he is.
Now in Seattle with a different group of skill players, he will face the Cardinals twice. He beat them last season with the Vikings, throwing two touchdown passes, including the game-winner with 1:13 left in the game for a 23-22 win.
The Cardinals will face Darnold and the Seahawks in Weeks 4 and 10 in 2025.

Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence has an exciting new teammate joining him on the roster for next season: Travis Hunter. The former Colorado Buffaloes star, like Lawrence, was a First-Team All-American when he played college football. Unlike the quarterback, who won the College Football Playoff national championship in 2018, Hunter quite famously played both sides of the ball throughout college and during his 2024 Heisman Trophy campaign. Lawrence, who was selected by the Jaguars at No. 1 overall in the 2021 NFL Draft, will have Hunter as a weapon in Jacksonville's offense next season after his team selected Hunter at No. 2 overall in the 2025 NFL Draft. While the Jaguars are taking their time with easing Hunter into both of his positions, Lawrence certainly has a preference for where he wants his new teammate to line up. It's hard to keep him off the field. Selfishly, I definitely want him on offense more. He'll make plays no matter where he's at, honestly, and of course as a quarterback I hope he plays more offense. But wherever he needs to play to make our team better, because he will make us better, is what's going to happen. So I'm all for whatever that is." That is fairly compelling argument from Lawrence if Hunter wants to make some highlight reels. The good news for Lawrence is that while Hunter is listed as a second-string cornerback in Jacksonville's first depth chart, he is considered a starting wide receiver.
