Most walked away from Friday's 30-10 Cleveland Browns win over the Carolina Panthers in Week 1 of the NFL preseason impressed with what they saw from rookie quarterback Shedeur Sanders.
Several former NFL players including legendary Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Michael Irvin, ex-Seattle Seahawks and San Francisco 49ers cornerback Richard Sherman, former Washington Commanders quarterback Robert Griffin III, and ex-Cowboys receiver Dez Bryant all took to social media to express how impressed they were with Sanders' performance.
In fact, one executive from a division rival texted NFL insider Jordan Schultz that he was "shocked" with how good Sanders looked against the Panthers defense at Bank of America Stadium.
The 23-year-old rookie threw for 138 yards and two touchdowns with zero interceptions with a 60.8 completion percentage and 19 yards rushing on four carries, and he seemingly worked his way back into the thick of the Browns' quarterback competition along with Kenny Pickett, Joe Flacco, and fellow rookie Dillon Gabriel.

Sanders was trending on social media for most of the night as fans raved about the impressive performance he put on, but seemingly no one was rooting for Sanders more than his own father, Colorado head coach Deion Sanders.
After Friday's game went final, Sanders was interviewed by Aditi Kinkhabwala on NFL Network, where he was asked about what he wanted to say to his dad, who was watching at home and posting pretty animated reactions on social media.
"Sorry pops, I ain't do what I was supposed to do fully," Sanders said. "But you know, we'll live to see another opportunity."

It's no secret Sanders has a close relationship with his father, who coached him the last two seasons at Colorado and two previous seasons before that at Jackson State.
Deion actually wanted to visit Cleveland and see Sanders practice in person, but his son told him not to come until he "gets where he needs to be."
"Shedeur told me not to come," Deion stated. "He didn't want me to come. He was like, 'Dad, I may get three, four reps in practice. I don't want you seeing that.'
"He ain't mad. He ain't bitter. He's like, 'I got work to do but I'm going to put in this work. One thing, they're going to have to let me play, preseason is going to come. When preseason comes, watch me work.'"
After his performance on Friday, Sanders is certainly one step closer to "getting where he needs to be."

Cam Ward shows why the Titans took him at No. 1 overall in his preseason debut
The Tennessee Titans are the first to point out that rookie Cam Ward has room for improvement, even as the No. 1 overall draft pick provided plenty of optimism for the future. Ward didn't connect on his first two passes. Then he completed five of his next six for 67 yards and drove the Titans 65 yards on 11 plays, using up 6 minutes, 38 seconds of a 29-7 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. 'It was a good start for him,' coach Brian Callahan said Sunday. 'Encouraging, was productive. But yeah, there's a couple of things that we're going to keep kind of grinding on I think. Still working on getting the ball out fast, still working on the timing part of it ... But overall pretty good.' Ward showed the chemistry he's been building with wide receiver Calvin Ridley, connecting with the veteran three times for 50 yards. Best for the Titans is the pocket a revamped offensive line provided for the rookie. Tennessee gave up 52 sacks in 2024 — only Houston and Seattle (54), Cleveland (66) and Chicago (68) allowed more. That's why the Titans signed veteran Dan Moore Jr. to be their new left tackle, moving JC Latham over to right tackle after his rookie season. They also brought in 13-year veteran right guard Kevin Zeitler. Center Lloyd Cushenberry III is on the physically unable to perform list, and the Titans held Zeitler out of the preseason opener. But center Corey Levin and guard Andrew Rupcich both helped show how much this unit has improved working under assistant coach Bill Callahan. 'Again, there's a lot of work still to be done and there's a lot of other rushers that are yet to be faced, so we'll build on a first positive first step, but definitely have a lot to keep going,' Callahan said. Injury update Callahan said running back Tyjae Spears will miss a couple of weeks with an injured ankle that had him taken by cart to the locker room during the second quarter of the preseason opener. Spears was seen by reporters with a walking boot on his right foot and using crutches after the game. Callahan said they're waiting on a final word on some things: 'But he will definitely miss some time.' Cushenberry is expected to start practicing this week. He started eight games before hurting his Achilles tendon in November. DT T'Vondre Sweat likely will need a week to recover from a tonsillectomy. Run D woes With Sweat and three-time Pro Bowl defensive lineman Jeffery Simmons both out against the Buccaneers, the Titans struggled like it was 2024 to defend the run. The Titans ranked 26th last season in allowing an average of 133.9 yards per game and gave up 178 to Tampa Bay. Three different Bucs had a long run of 12 yards or longer as Tampa Bay averaged 4.3 yards per carry. 'Not the number we're looking for, and that's got to get improved,' Callahan said. Dallas Cowboys star CeeDee Lamb sat out the team's first preseason game of 2025 against the Los Angeles Rams and still, somehow, managed to find some action. Lamb was on the sideline when he started to celebrate wide receiver Jonathan Mingo blowing past a few Rams defensive backs to get wide open on a play in the second quarter. However, Lamb turned his back and a sideline official ran into him. Neither the official nor Lamb expected what happened. Both men were helped up and neither appeared injured. "It's sideline interference. CeeDee Lamb was standing in the restricted white border area, which is our area to officiate the game. The official on the play was focused solely on doing his job, and he ran into CeeDee Lamb, who was standing in that restricted area," referee Alex Moore told a pool reporter, via CBS Sports. "That's what happened. And with that contact, it's an automatic foul." The Cowboys were penalized for Lamb's action. Los Angeles ended up winning the game, 31-21. Stetson Bennett IV had 188 passing yards and two touchdown passes. Blake Corum ran for two more touchdowns. Cowboys quarterback Joe Milton III had 143 passing yards and a touchdown pass. Will Grier was 2-of-3 passing and had a rushing touchdown. Lamb may not see too much time, if at all, in preseason action. He's the team's No. 1 receiver. He was named to the Pro Bowl for the fourth time in 2024. He had 101 catches for 1,194 yards and six touchdown catches.
