Cambridge mother killed in Hwy. 401 crash: OPP

A mother is dead and her child injured following a two-vehicle collision on Highway 401 in Milton Saturday, Ontario Provincial Police reported.
The OPP said a section of the busy highway near James Snow Parkway is shut down while officers investigate.
The crash happened on the eastbound express lanes.
The OPP said it appears a 40-year-old woman from Cambridge, Ont., was driving when she struck a guard rail and was then hit by a pickup truck around 10:11 a.m.
She was pronounced dead at the scene. Her six-year-old daughter was taken to hospital with minor injuries.
The three people in the pickup truck weren't injured, police said.
Any witnesses are being asked to contact the Mississauga OPP detachment.
Traffic is being diverted in the area.

One dead, dog seriously injured in San Francisco crash

(KRON) — A man is dead and a dog was seriously injured from a two-car crash that happened on a Highway 101 offramp in San Francisco Saturday. The crash occurred around 11:44 a.m., when a white Dodge Charger exited the southbound side of Highway 101 near Paul Avenue at a high rate of speed, the California Highway Patrol told KRON4. The Charger hit a concrete wall and continued into a car stopped at the offramp stop sign. Foster City crews responded to brush fire, roads closed Firefighters with the San Francisco Fire Department responded to the scene and extracted the man from the Charger. Firefighters performed CPR but were unable to revive the man and he was pronounced dead at 11:55 a.m. The injured dog was given to San Francisco Animal Control. THOMSON, Ga. (WJBF) – One person is dead after a 2 car collision in Thomson. McDuffie County Coroner Paul Johnson tells us that 60-year-old Lisa Lazier was traveling eastbound on Cobham Road on Saturday when her vehicle was struck by a westbound SUV.
