"I want to tell the enemy today that if you threaten to hold our water, then keep this in mind that you cannot snatch even one drop of Pakistan," Prime Minister Sharif said while addressing a ceremony here.
He warned that if India attempted such an act, "you will be again taught such a lesson that you will be left holding your ears."

A day earlier, former foreign minister Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari termed the IWT's suspension an attack on the Indus Valley Civilisation and said the nation would not back down if New Delhi forced it into war.
In an address to the Pakistani diaspora in Tampa, Florida, Army Chief Asim Munir reportedly said Islamabad would destroy any dam if it cut off water flow to Pakistan.
"We will wait for India to build a dam, and when they do so, we will destroy it," he was quoted as saying by the Dawn newspaper. "The Indus River is not the Indians' family property. We have no shortage of resources to undo the Indian designs to stop the river."
India launched Operation Sindoor on May 7, targeting terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir in retaliation for the April 22 Pahalgam attack that killed 26 civilians.
India and Pakistan reached an understanding on May 10 to end the conflict after four days of intense cross-border drone and missile strikes.

Raipur: Independence Day 2025 carried a special significance in Chhattisgarh's Bastar region as two landmark events unfolded — the tricolour was hoisted for the first time deep inside Abujhmarh region, a Maoist stronghold, and a memorial dedicated to 460 fallen CRPF personnel was inaugurated along Bastar's Kondagaon district. For decades, the rugged and forested expanse of Abujhmarh was synonymous with Maoist influence, where state presence was minimal and public celebrations were nearly impossible. On Friday, however, the 133rd battalion of the Border Security Force (BSF) broke new ground by organising Independence Day functions at Company Operating Bases (COBs) Garpa, Kandulnar, and Horadi, alongside the battalion headquarters in Sonpur. At these once-inaccessible villages, the tricolour fluttered high as local residents, women, children, and teachers gathered with BSF personnel to mark 79th Independence Day. Constructed on a self-help basis, the CRPF Shaheed Smarak stands prominently on NH-30, outside the battalion camp, ensuring visibility for both locals and tourists. The memorial features the names of 20 gazetted officers, 44 subordinate officers, and 396 other ranks who made the ultimate sacrifice in counter-insurgency operations. Commandant Bhavesh Chaudhary of 188 Bn said the memorial will serve as "an enduring inspiration for future generations and a reminder of the CRPF's valour and commitment in the fight against Naxalism in Chhattisgarh." Bengal set to add over 13,000 booths ahead of 2026 polls
Kolkata: Bengal is set to add 13,816 new polling booths, taking the projected number of polling booths in the state from 80,613 to 94,479. The addition follows EC mandate limiting the number of voters per booth from 1,500 to 1,200. A final call on number of booths will however be taken after a meeting between EC officials and representatives of political parties on Wednesday. A senior official said final booths will be decided on advice of political parties and DMs, following which the EC would issue a notification. The EC had earlier directed Bengal's chief electoral officer to rationalise polling booths ahead of 2026 assembly elections. It has been decided that booths will be set up in multi-storey complexes, slums and community halls, to improve participation. Sources indicated that the number of booths could increase further based on a special intensive revision (SIR) of electoral rolls by Jan 2026. Data from the 2002 SIR of some assembly constituencies, including Kulpi in South 24 Parganas, have not been traced. As a result, the EC plans to consider the 2003 draft roll for the SIR in Bengal.
