Hollyoaks star calls on late mother's friends not to attend stepfather's funeral

Andrew Searle and Dawn Kerr, who were both aged in their 60s, were found dead in their home in the south of France in the early afternoon of February 6.
Mrs Kerr was found lying dead in front of her house partly undressed and with a significant head injury while Mr Searle was found hanged inside the property, which is in the hamlet of Les Pesquies in Villefranche-de-Rouergue, Aveyron.
Police launched an investigation to establish whether the couple died as a result of a murder-suicide, or if a third party was involved.
Prosecutor Fabrice Belargent previously said that 'the analysis carried out does not so far show any evidence that a third party was involved'.
In a statement posted on social media on Tuesday Mr Kerr said it would be 'inappropriate' for his mother's memory to be 'associated with a service honouring the man who, based on all available evidence, may have been responsible for her death'.
He called on the funeral arrangements for the pair to be kept separate and for photographs showing the couple together not to be shared.
The full statement, which is signed by Kerr and his sister Amanda Kerr, reads: 'In the absence of any evidence suggesting third-party involvement in the tragic death of our mother, Dawn Kerr, the prevailing hypothesis remains that of a murder-suicide.

'Our mother was killed by multiple blows to the head, and Andrew was found deceased by hanging.
'His injuries are consistent with self-hanging, and no defensive wounds were found on his body.
'There is also no evidence of any third-party's involvement at this stage.
'While the official investigation is still ongoing, we cannot ignore the circumstances as they stand.
'For this reason, we must respectfully but firmly request that our mother not be included in any way in the funeral arrangements being made for Andrew.
'Please do not share photographs of them together.
'Please do not attend Andrew's service if you were a friend of our mother.
'It would be inappropriate for her memory to be associated with a service honouring the man who, based on all available evidence, may have been responsible for her death.
'We ask for understanding, privacy and respect as we continue to grieve and seek justice for our mum.'
Callum Kerr played Pc George Kiss in the popular Channel 4 soap opera, and appeared in Netflix's Virgin River.
According to his LinkedIn page, Mr Searle was a retired fraud investigator specialising in financial crime prevention who worked at companies including Standard Life and Barclays.
A statement issued by French prosecutors in February said: 'The two deceased persons, a man and a woman, were the owners of the house in which their bodies were discovered.
'They were British expatriates, retired, and had been living in Aveyron for five years.
'The first victim, Ms Kerr, has a significant head injury.
'A box containing jewellery was found near to her, but no item or weapon which could have caused the injuries were located.
'Mr Searle, who was found hanged… did not show any visible defensive injuries.'

Tommy Robinson deletes tweet of mixed-heritage family in park now 'living in fea

A British black man and his family are living in fear of their lives after Tommy Robinson shared an X post of the mixed-heritage family playing at a playground. A harmless day at the park saw Yorkshire musician Olajuwon Ayeni playing with his white granddaughters on a local roundabout. His wife filmed the joyful encounter for her TikTok, captioning it: 'Grandad duties with the twins'. But the video was stolen and shared with the far-right activist's 1.4million followers, under the caption 'Wtf is even going on here? Where are the parents?!' The family, from Redcar, were bombarded with death threats, trolls and people in the street falsely branded Mr Ayeni a paedophile and he was even dropped from his record management amid the fallout of the misleading post. 'I feel I have to sleep with one eye open,' the grandfather told The Guardian. 'I feel unsafe, scared and sad, as mine and my brother's lives have been threatened. Someone said they will seek revenge and I'll never walk again, all for just being in the park with the kids I love on a family day out. 'It's been twisted by haters and wicked people.' His wife Natalie told the paper: 'We haven't gone outside at home, we just can't. 'Just after it started to go viral, someone in the local pub recognised Olajuwon immediately; we couldn't believe how quick it had spread. We were walking home from shops just streets from our house, and two lads passed us, spun round and said 'I hope you're not them off that video or we're coming back to slash you up'. It's just horrendous. 'Someone was shouting 'paedophile' outside the house the other night, so I rang the police again but they say there's little they can do. It feels a matter of time before something bad happens. We tried to go out yesterday and had to come home.' More Trending Grok, X's AI platform, confirmed Tommy Robinson deleted the offending post. It said: 'Yes, based on multiple reports and searches, Tommy Robinson has deleted the tweet sharing the video of the grandfather with his granddaughters. The misrepresentation led to threats against the family, who are now in fear.' Cleveland police said they were offering the family support after the threats. The Redcar and Cleveland local policing superintendent, Emily Harrison, added: 'Cleveland police would also urge social media users to refrain from further sharing either the video or any incorrect information about the people featured.' Hundreds attend solidarity gig in Dublin for Kneecap rapper

Kneecap flags and logos hung from the windows in Connolly Books, which dubs itself Ireland's oldest radical bookshop, in solidarity with O hAnnaidh, Kneecap, and the people of Palestine. Pro-Palestine supporters criticised the decision by British authorities to bring a charge against the performer instead of focusing on the Israeli government's actions against the Palestinian people. O hAnnaidh, 27, who performs under the stage name Mo Chara, is accused of displaying a flag in support of Hezbollah at a gig in November last year. When a government tries to silence people, they should learn that they can never silence people. I feel like the public would get more angry at that Aoife Powell Hundreds of Kneecap supporters greeted O hAnnaidh as he arrived at Westminster Magistrates' Court in London on Wednesday morning, alongside fellow Kneecap rappers Naoise O Caireallain and JJ O Dochartaigh. During the hearing, his defence team argued the case should be thrown out, citing a technical error in the way the charge against him was brought. The case has been adjourned until September 26, when the judge will rule on whether he has the jurisdiction to try the case. At the protest session at Connolly Books on Wednesday afternoon, several artists played Irish traditional music in solidarity with Kneecap. Ispini na hEireann play at Connolly Books in Dublin's Temple Bar area (Niall Carson/PA) Dubliner Aoife Powell, 19, said she came out to protest because she is 'angry' at the decision to charge an artist rather than focus on what is happening to the people of Gaza. 'I'm here because it just worries me that the fact that governments are focused on artists expressing themselves rather than the actual problem, which is obviously the genocide in Gaza,' she told the PA news agency. 'It's a little bit disheartening to see there's so much pressure being put on these artists to stop saying what they truly think and to stop standing on the right side of history. 'I feel like it's a distraction from what's actually happening. 'When a government tries to silence people, they should learn that they can never silence people. I feel like the public would get more angry at that.' Sean O'Grady is from Coleraine in Northern Ireland but has lived in Dublin for almost 70 years. 'I'm delighted with them (Kneecap), that they've done what they're doing, and they're getting plenty of publicity. 'The British government are crazy, I mean, what are they at? 'They're supplying a lot of the bombs, and a lot of the arms and ammunition to Israel to do what they're doing. So they should be ashamed of themselves instead of bringing in these people (to court) for stupid reasons. 'It's getting good publicity over there for the cause of the Palestinians.' Kneecap's Liam Og O hAnnaidh, speaks to supporters as he leaves Westminster Magistrates' Court in London (Lucy North/PA) Dubliner Dermot Nolan said he attended his first Palestine protest in 1967, and while he remembers horrific events such as the Vietnam War, the scale of death and injuries in Gaza is the worst he has ever lived through. 'I'm here because it's important to for two reasons – first of all, to show our intolerance of the genocide and slaughter that's being carried out by the US, Nato and Israel. 'The second reason is the question of civil rights. We're protesting about the indictment of a member of the Irish group Kneecap. 'It is a sign of creeping authoritarianism which is happening in all the western countries and most clearly in Britain.'

Scots pensioner dies on cruise ship docked in Italian city

The 83-year-old was allegedly discovered lifeless in the water on Tuesday afternoon. A Scots OAP has died on board a cruise ship after being found unresponsive in a swimming pool while it was docked in Naples. ‌ The 83-year-old, who has not yet been named, was discovered in the pool of the Marella Voyager yesterday afternoon. Holidaymakers and crew desperately tried to save him but he could not be revived. ‌ Italian police boarded the vessel, placing it under temporary seizure as they carried out inquiries. The ship - which is operatured by TUI - was due to leave port at 5pm local time but was held back for several hours. ‌ Officers later ruled out any foul play, confirming the pensioner had taken ill in the water. The liner was eventually cleared to resume its journey around the Med. The Marella Voyager had set sail from Majorca on August 16 and had already visited Sardinia before arriving in Naples. It is now continuing on to Rome, Corsica, Spain and back to Majorca. An FCDO Spokesperson said: "We are supporting the family of a British man who died in Italy." TUI has been contacted for comment.
