Packers' Jordan Love Called Out Ahead of Pivotal 2025 Season

The Green Bay Packers and Jordan Love enter the 2025 NFL season with big expectations. They expect to be a top-tier contender in the NFC and one of the top Super Bowl contenders in the entire league.
Over the last couple of years since Aaron Rodgers departed, Love has been able to lead the Packers to the playoffs in each season. However, the team has been eliminated in the Divisional Round of the playoffs and in the Wild Card.
In the third year with Love as the team's starter, the expectations have increased.

After suffering a knee injury in Week 1 against the Philadelphia Eagles, Love never got rolling. He had a solid season, but it wasn't great. Love's performance left a lot to be desired.
Heading into the 2025 campaign, Love has received a new major warning.
NFL insider Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk has issued a strong message to Love. He believes that the Green Bay quarterback will be on the hot seat if he doesn't pick up his level of play.
"He's not on the hot seat per se, but he needs to play better in 2025 than he did in 2024," Florio said. "If not, he will be on the hot seat in 2026. The wild card in Green Bay is new CEO Ed Policy, who operates as the de facto owner of the team."
That strong warning is warranted. Love is getting paid like a top quarterback in the NFL. He needs to start producing at that level.
During the 2024 campaign, Love played in 15 regular season games. He completed 63.1 percent of his pass attempts for 3,389 yards, 25 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions.

While the overall production was solid, there were quite a few games where Love was a non-factor. That cannot keep happening if the Packers are going to be a legitimate Super Bowl contender.
Entering the 2025 season, Love has a ton of weapons and another offseason of work. He should show an improved version of himself. If he doesn't, Green Bay may need to have some tough conversations.
Hopefully, all of this is completely put to rest by Love. He's more than capable of a breakout season, but he needs to show it on the field.

Cowboys WR Kavontae Turpin is arrested on two misdemeanor charges
During the slow time, NFL coaches dread that phone call. Cowboys coach Brian Schottenheimer has gotten one. Via CBS News Texas, Cowboys receiver Kavontae Turpin was arrested during Fourth of July weekend on a pair of misdemeanor charges. It happened on Sunday morning, in Allen, Texas. Turpin was booked for possession of marijuana and unlawful carrying of a weapon. His bond was set at $500. Both charges will trigger potential scrutiny under NFL policies. Marijuana doesn't result in the same punishment that it once did. However, he'll likely be subjected to enhanced testing and potential fines for positive tests. Suspensions are very rare, and very hard to earn, under the current substance-abuse policy. Turpin had his biggest in 2024, with 420 (coincidence, not irony) receiving yards. He also was the first-team All-Pro kick returner, with 904 yards, a 33.5-yard average per return, and a 99-yard touchdown. He also had 18 punt returns for 187 yards and a touchdown.

Patriots' renovated WR room gets destroyed in PFF rankings
The latest wide receiver rankings for Pro Football Focus don't seem optimistic about the New England Patriots' renovated wide receivers room. Despite the additions of four-time Pro Bowler Stefon Diggs, veteran Mack Hollins and promising rookie Kyle Williams, the Patriots were still ranked as 31st out of 32 NFL teams. Only the Cleveland Browns ranked worse than the Patriots on the list. PFF's Trevor Sikkema wrote: "It's almost a completely new group of receiving weapons in New England, making it difficult to truly assess the state of the team's receiving corps. Stefon Diggs was once the NFL's second-highest-graded receiver (90.6 PFF receiving grade in 2020) but is coming off a major knee injury. Mack Hollins was a solid but unspectacular receiver for the Bills in 2024, averaging only 1.04 yards per route run (95th out of 112 qualifiers). Kyle Williams, Javon Baker, Ja'Lynn Polk and Demario Douglas will fight for the final receiver roster spots." The Patriots clearly hope to be better than they were last season. Along with the additions of Diggs, Hollins and Williams, they are also returning players that might make a difference, such as Demario Douglas, Kayshon Boutte and Kendrick Bourne. There are also hopes that second-year wideouts Ja'Lynn Polk and Javon Baker might finally break out. The team also has to feel optimistic about the early practices from undrafted rookie Efton Chism III, who could be a dark horse roster hopeful in training camp. Even if this ranking feels too low for the Patriots, they still need to go out on the field and prove people wrong in 2025. The better they perform, the more people will start believing. MLB's Bold Proclamation About Ronald Acuna Jr. Is Turning Heads
MLB's Bold Proclamation About Ronald Acuna Jr. Is Turning Heads originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Ronald Acuna Jr. is making a fantastic return after nearly a year away from the field. In May 2024, he suffered a leg injury that turned out to be a torn ACL, ending his season. Advertisement Fast forward to May 2025, just three days short of the one-year anniversary of the injury, and Acuna returned to action. Since then, he has been on fire for the Atlanta Braves. Despite the team's struggles — the Braves are 10 games under .500 and sitting in fourth place in the NL East — Acuna's performance has stood out. On Sunday, MLB posted his stats with the caption: "Ronald Acuña Jr. Since Coming Back Is Must-See." That line got fans talking. Mentioned by this fan: "Acuna has come back better!!!!!" "@RedSox PLEASE," begged this commenter. In this post here, the commenter bashes the team, despite the great results from their star: "4th place Braves." Advertisement "3rd best player in baseball when healthy," posted by this fan. More praise here: "MVP numbers right there." This commenter is impressed: "Wow, Ronald Acua Jr. is on fire this season, those stats are impressive!" Atlanta Braves right fielder Ronald Acuna Jr. (13).Dale Zanine-Imagn Images Through 39 games since his return, Acuna is hitting .333 with nine home runs and 18 RBIs. His timing, power and confidence at the plate show he's back to form. Atlanta, however, has dropped three straight games, including a tough extra-inning loss at home to the Baltimore Orioles on Saturday. The Braves are just 2-8 in their last 10 games. They'll finish the series against the Orioles on Sunday before heading west for a road trip against the Oakland Athletics and St. Louis Cardinals, leading into the All-Star break.
