"Terror organisations are not just born but nurtured in Pakistan": BJP MP Aparajita Sarangi
Tokyo [Japan], May 24 (ANI): Launching scathing attacks on Pakistan, BJP MP Aparajita Sarangi, who is part of an all-party delegation that visited Japan, said that the neighbouring country is trying to spread terrorism as it could not see peace and development in Jammu and Kashmir after the abrogation of Articles 370 and 35A.
During the interaction of the Indian Community in Japan, Sarangi asserted that 140 crore Indians have to stand together against terrorism and Pakistan.
'We are here to tell you that we are not just heartbroken, but we are also angry... Anger and dissatisfaction are significant in this fight against terror... We aim to create public opinion against terrorism. We will not be able to end terrorism until there is a sentiment of anger,' she said.
'140 crore Indians have to stand together against terrorism and Pakistan... We have to argue with facts and figures... After Article 370 and 35A were removed, development began in J&K... This peace and development were not acceptable, and that is why Pakistan is trying to spread terrorism... Terror organisations are not just born in Pakistan but are also nurtured there,' the BJP MP said.
Aparajita Sarangi is part of the delegation led by Janata Dal (United) MP Sanjay Jha, which includes Ambassador Mohan Kumar, BJP MP Dr Hemang Joshi, CPI(M) MP John Brittas, Trinamool Congress MP Abhishek Banerjee, BJP MP Brij Lal, and BJP MP Pradan Baruah.
The delegation aims to brief international partners on India's response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack and its broader fight against cross-border terrorism while engaging with leaders in Japan, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Republic of Korea, and Singapore.
The multi-party delegation, consisting of seven groups led by one MP each, has been initiated to counter global misinformation and highlight India's zero-tolerance policy on terrorism.
India had launched Operation Sindoor on May 7 in response to the Pahalgam terror attack, targeting terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (POJK).
The Indian Armed Forces responded effectively to subsequent Pakistani aggression and pounded its airbases. The two countries have reached an understanding to stop military action following a call made by Pakistan's DGMO to his Indian counterpart. (ANI)

Appeasement politics resurfaces in Karnataka
Among the southern states, Karnataka has been continually seeing some noise or the other related to minority affairs in the State. The moves to bring in any welfare measure to make the government schemes look more inclusive and lend a stamp of affirmative action on them have been critically examined and vehemently opposed by the Opposition parties (read BJP). With its earlier move to reserving four per cent of public contracts for minorities still stuck with the Governor, who has sought President's approval for it, it is indeed a daredevil move by the Siddaramaiah government to introduce another scheme wherein minorities are to be provided with 15 per cent reservation in housing, which translates to a five per cent hike over the existing quota. Buoyed by a series of missteps taken by the Congress government in the Dakshina Kannada region where Hindu activism has been on the boil for quite some time now, the BJP naturally flayed the recent measure as 'appeasement' and accused the government of prioritising religion over welfare. Even though the government quickly clarified that it was a scheme in existence since 2019 and not an arbitrary move, the BJP propaganda machinery right from Delhi to Bengaluru did not stop their attacks. Moreover, as the Minority and Housing Welfare Minister Zameer Ahmed Khan informed, it was a recommendation made by the coalition government headed by the then Chief Minister, HD Kumaraswamy. However, the chaos has not subsided. One may argue that the government is using these tactics to sidestep the terrible times they are going through currently with the Chinnaswamy Stadium stampede still going nowhere. Yet, the Congress has never shied away from its pro-minority moves even if it has run the risk of being called excessively partial towards their committed vote banks, which the state Muslims have often turned out to be. In a milieu where religion is often seen as a counter-weighing factor to political decision-making, taking on a fiery Opposition that has never shied away from its aggressive posturing and response has negated many a public welfare measure, which the Congress government proposed over the years. This has become evident in Karnataka, ever since BJP ascended to power in 2008 and has grown from strength to strength to become a formidable political force. If the GOP thinks it is assuring the Muslim voters that they are always there for them, it is an infructuous effort as the largest minority in the state would never veer towards the BJP. If one sees it as a regular administrative action, all the game plans they seem to be having are already common knowledge for their rivals, who have, over the years, unabashedly raised the communal temperature on the other side to keep their vote bank under control. The truth is that the Congress government, despite the regularly reported tiff between the top two – Siddaramaiah and DK Shivakumar – faces no immediate threat from the Opposition, which is in no position to dethrone them. Moreover, the Congress has, in the recent past, never won two terms at a stretch anywhere in India and so they would rather bumble along, managing the BJP and its allies, doing what it does best. Till it is time to face the elections again.

On the sectoral front, Nifty Bank, Financial Services, Auto, IT, Metal, PSU Bank, Consumer Durables, and Oil & Gas indices rose between 1 and 2% in early trade. Ceasefire Between Iran and Israel The rally was triggered by reports that Iran and Israel have agreed to a phased ceasefire, following nearly two weeks of escalating military tensions. The development was announced by US President Donald Trump, who credited Qatar for facilitating the negotiations. However, tensions remain on the ground. The Israeli military said early Tuesday that it had detected another wave of missiles launched from Iran. Sirens were activated across several cities, including Jerusalem, where residents took shelter in underground parking lots after receiving mobile alerts. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed the alerts in a social media post, stating that sirens were heard following the missile launch. According to AP reports, notifications were sent to citizens' phones ahead of the missile barrage's expected arrival. 2. Oil Prices Slide Oil prices dropped over 3% on Tuesday, extending the 9% slide seen on Monday after Iran's limited retaliation against a U.S. air base signaled a potential de-escalation of hostilities. With the immediate threat to the crucial Strait of Hormuz shipping route appearing to ease, U.S. crude futures fell another 3.4% to $66.15 per barrel, the lowest level since June 11. On Monday, oil prices had plunged nearly 6% after Iran launched missiles at a U.S. air base in Qatar in response to earlier American airstrikes on Iranian nuclear facilities. A continued decline in crude oil prices would be a positive for India, which depends heavily on imports to meet its energy needs. Lower oil prices help ease inflationary pressures and narrow the fiscal deficit, offering relief to policymakers and consumers alike. 3.
