UP DGP calls for heightened security for I-Day, Janmashtami celebrations

The DGP also instructed close monitoring of microlight aircraft, drones, paragliders and other unmanned aerial objects, prohibiting all unauthorised flights.
Local intelligence units and social media cells have been activated to track activities of banned or extremist organisations, with directives for immediate preventive action wherever required.
The district police forces have been told to verify tenants in the residential colonies, curb illegal arms and explosives trafficking, and ensure coordination with the civil magistrates, municipal bodies and utility departments for smooth conduct of Janmashtami events.
Organisers of temple festivals, processions and fairs are to be engaged in advance meetings to resolve logistical issues, the directive said.
All sensitive and communally vulnerable areas will have enhanced police deployment, flag marches and foot patrolling under the supervision of gazetted officers, the statement said.
Videography and drone surveillance of processions have been made mandatory, along with the use of bomb disposal squads and sniffer dogs wherever necessary.
The instructions also include ensuring women's safety through plainclothes deployment, keeping riot-control equipment ready, and maintaining police/PAC reserves at the district headquarters.
Round-the-clock monitoring of social media platforms has also been ordered to counter misinformation or inflammatory content.

The spirit of Swadeshi was strengthened by Mahatma Gandhi to promote the products made by the sweat and toil of Indian artisans and crafts-persons, and by their incomparable skills. Vadodara city police orders complete closure of roads leading to Harinagar temple on Janmashtami evening
Considering the number of devotees expected to arrive at the ISKCON temple in Harinagar in the Gotri area of Vadodara city on the occasion of Janmashtami on August 16, the Vadodara city police on Thursday notified complete closure of roads leading to the Harinagar temple. In a notification, Commissioner of Police Narasimha Komar has ordered closure of four roads from 7pm Saturday till the time the Janmashtami celebrations are complete later in the evening. Closure has been notified for the road from Harinagar flyover to ISKCON Circle in Ward 11 as well as from ISKCON circle to Harinagar flyover. The road leading from the junction of Shyambaug society behind the Diwalipura district court to ISKCON temple as well as from Pratam Avenue (DMart) junction to ISKCON have been notified as closed. The notification states that the closure has been mandated for 'effective crowd management' as thousands of devotees are expected to arrive at the two temples located close by. The ISKCON temple is in close proximity to the Swaminarayan temple on the same road. The alternate route has been identified to divert traffic from under Harinagar flyover to ESI hospital junction to Sarabhai Colony and The Nest junction as well as from ISKCON circle to Gokul Party road towards The Nest junction and ESI hospital. From Shyambaug society, traffic will be diverted through Gadapura to PNB junction and thereon to Malhar point on OP Road. Traffic moving from Pratham avenue will also follow the same route via ISKCON circle. The notification stated that the closure will not apply to emergency vehicles such as fire, ambulance and police vehicles.
