Destination X's Nick breaks silence after clashing with Saskia before exit
** This article contains spoilers for Destination X episode seven **
Destination X viewers will be still in shock after tonight's episode, which saw star Nick Butter become the latest contestant to leave the competition. Now, Nick has opened up about the dramatic episode - and his on-screen clash with Saskia - in an interview with The Mirror.
Tonight's episode saw Nick become the latest contestant to leave the show after his location prediction was the furthest away from their real location - Pula, Croatia. "I got a little unlucky," he told The Mirror.
"The game morphed as it went along and my time came. I was at peace with it, to be honest. It happens. I wasn't devastated but I was gutted that I so nearly knew where I was. I just didn't know it was the place."
Before leaving the bus however, Nick found himself coming up against fellow contestant Saskia. The pair butted heads frequently throughout the show but this was their biggest clash by far - with Saskia telling him off for being negative as Nick accusing her of playing a game.
How are the pair now that Nick has left the game? "I absolutely admire everybody on the bus and I completely genuinely mean that," he said.
"At the time, don't get me wrong, you feel like you're kind of grinding your teeth a little bit, biting your tongue, trying to not just be polite, but you're completely deprived, you're going through challenges, you're trying to win 100 grand, you're going to be p****d off with people."
He added: "But I think all the way through everybody on the bus was polite, courteous enough, and importantly, everybody understood that it was a game. Everyone started playing it at different times, but everybody understood it was game and our individual personalities, if they clashed or otherwise, we all understood that we were decent people."
As for him and Saskia, Nick revealed that they've stayed in touch after the show. "Sask and I, we could probably argue about everything forever because we have just come from things from such polar angles. But that's also part of, like I said, part of the reason to do the show and why I think people enjoy watching it.
"Because you wouldn't usually get her and I in the same room so that was that was great and we've all kept in touch. She's smart as well and she's a good person - just different from me."
With Nick's Destination X journey over, the long-distance runner has his sights set on presenting. "I'd love to do some presenting. I'd love to some TV stuff with sport," he said.
"I'm not expecting it but I'd love the doors to be opened to other opportunities in TV. Potentially not reality TV stuff because I feel like that box is ticked. I mean if there's another big adventure program there then naturally I'm probably going to want to do it anyway. But the early career and long-term-wise, you know, if I can do some form of presenting or host a show. Even do something with the next series of Destination X that would be great fun."

Destination X fans left 'gutted' over latest twist as they issue same complaint
BBC One's Destination X had TV viewers complaining on social media after the latest twist hugely impacted the contestants Viewers of Destination X were left 'gutted' by the latest twist in the popular BBC show, with many voicing the same grievance. The reality programme returned to our telly screens on Wednesday (20 August) with another episode, which saw remaining contestants Nick, Saskia, Judith, Daren, Josh and Claire tackle the latest challenge on the Destination X bus. Regrettably, Nick found himself bidding farewell to the BBC show after his location prediction was the furthest away from the group's actual location, which was revealed to be Pula, Croatia. Fans at home were left heartbroken by Nick's departure from the show, with many taking to social media to vent their disappointment. "I am so gutted, I really thought that Nick would get to the final and win! ! #DestinationX," one person posted on Twitter, now X, while a second said: "I'm in mourning for nick from #DestinationX." A third viewer said: "I haven't watched #DestinationX for long but I'm really sad to see Nick go, that was so unlucky, Could've won," and another added: "Nick was great. Sorry to see him go. #DestinationX." A fifth Destination X fan said: "#DestinationX going to be really boring now Nick's gone. Let's see how they get on without the strongest player on board." Speaking after he was told he was the latest contestant to be eliminated, Nick said: "Stepping off the bus here is frustrating, because I said it as I was placing it. "I couldn't quite find where I needed to be, which was a shame. It's been great, it's been a great experience. It's been really horrible and hard at times, lots of lessons learned. "The social dilemmas, the decision-making, what to tell to who and when, is very draining. The game is hard." Nick's fellow contestants were left stunned by his departure on the coach, with each expressing their astonishment whilst gearing up for the upcoming stage of the competition, reports the Manchester Evening News Judith pondered how Nick had butted heads with particular participants throughout his stint on the BBC One programme, confessing she believed he might have been misjudged and was merely concentrated on the contest. "I really don't think he's as bad a person as some people started to think. I think the game was just the first thing he thought about, the last thing he thought about when he went to bed. I think he was just so in it," Judith revealed to her fellow Destination X participants.

Destination X fans point out hidden clue favourite would leave competition in cruel twist
Destination X viewers were left outraged as as fan-favourite contestant as part of a shock twist as the competition nears the end Destination X viewers were left outraged as as fan-favourite contestant left the competition amid a savage twist. The BBC's globetrotting reality series series follows a group of strangers hoping to to win £100,000 by correctly guessing where in the world they have been taken to. The programme hosted by Rob Brydon, sees the hopefuls dealt with various clues as to where they might be, ranging from languages written down and other key hints. It has become something of a success with viewers, gaining around four million viewers per episode, and on Wednesday evening, fans tuned in to watch retired detective sergeant Claire, 51, Daren, 58, a taxi driver, and pilot Josh, 26, continue with their mission. They were joined by fellow contestants Judith 28, who works as a nuclear engineer, and endurance athlete Nick, 35, as well as marketing executive Saskia, 35. But viewers were shocked at the end of the episode when Nick was dumped from the competition at the last moment, just one week ahead of the grand finale that is set to air on 29 August. Taking to X/ Twitter, one fan fumed: "i knew he was leaving as soon as he said what he spend the money on! ffs ! i pray saskia don't win #destinationx." A second fan raged: "Knew Nick was gone with the clip about what he would use the money for if he won. #DestinationX" and a third fan pointed out: "Nick has to win this in order to open his dog sanctuary!! #destinationx" In the episode, Nick correctly guessed they were in Pula but couldn't find it on the map and thus was kicked out of the competition. He was the only person who had guessed correctly - but his incorrect place on the map meant he struggled. Last week, the contestants saw their loved ones but had to pretend they did not know them. Jackie's surprise appearance on the BBC show left Daren struggling, as he admitted he'd found it "tough" to not interact with her. "Jackie P is 10 foot from me," he said. "You don't know how hard that is. It was really tough." His co-star Saskia was quick to notice his reaction too, saying: "As soon as I saw Daren shed a tear, I was like 'Jackie P is in here'." The contestants were tasked with matching portraits of each other with photos of their loved ones, as they attempted to guess who was linked to who. The winner would then get to spend some time with their loved one. Unfortunately, Daren failed to win the task, meaning he didn't get to see his wife again.
