Maha tweaks quota framework for 8 tribals dists; 3 from Vid included
The point roster (system used to ensure correct percentages of reserved seats are allocated to different categories) has been finalised based on recommendations by cabinet sub-committee on reservation, chaired by revenue minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule. Alongside Vidarbha districts, five other tribal-dominated districts — Nashik, Dhule, Nandurbar, Palghar, and Raigad — have also been included under the new policy.
To suggest necessary measures regarding the implementation of revised reservation in tribal-dominated districts, the cabinet had formed a sub-committee under Bawankule's leadership. Other members included food and civil supplies minister Chhagan Bhujbal, agriculture minister Manikrao Kokate, school education minister Dadaji Bhuse, OBC welfare minister Atul Save, and tribal development minister Dr Ashok Uike.

Taking into account the recommendations of this committee, the govt has finalised the revised point roster for direct recruitment to Group-C and Group-D posts in these districts. The revised reservation percentages have been determined based on the population and existing reservation quotas of Other Backward Classes (OBCs), Vimukta Jatis, and Nomadic Tribes (VJNTs) in these districts.
Under the Maharashtra State Reservation for Socially and Educationally Backward Classes Act, 2024, the socially and educationally backward classes (SEBC) are entitled to 10% reservation in direct recruitment for govt jobs and admissions to educational institutions.
This restructured reservation matrix is expected to streamline recruitment and admission processes while ensuring fair access to under-represented communities in Maharashtra's tribal belts.

For some reason, my name wasn't removed, so I called the BLO, submitted a written application, and took a receipt. I have both documents. My deletion form was rejected." Sinha added that he flagged the issue with the Election Commission after the poll body released the draft voter list, following the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) in the state. He said that the ECI has given a month correction window, and the final voter list has not been released yet. Live Events "One month is given for the correction. People questioning a Constitutional body do not have trust in the Constitution. They spread confusion and are a danger to democracy. Due to this correction window, I have given to the BLO in writing to remove my name. It would have been the Election Commission's mistake if it did not have a correction window. The final electoral roll has not been released. My name is under the process," he told reporters. The Deputy CM clarified that he votes from Lakhisarai only. "I vote from only one place. Last time too, I voted only from Lakhisarai, and this time as well, the form was filled from there," he said. Slamming Tejashwi Yadav , he said, "This is their jungle raj, BJP does not play such games. If there is a lack of something, we come forward to help rather than insulting a Constitutional body. Vijay Sinha neither does age fraud nor insults a Constitutional body." He further asked RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav to apologise. "It is sad that a person sitting on a constitutional post tarnishes politics with his language; this does not befit him. The complete facts should be known. The whole of Bihar and the country know that the way the prince of Jungle Raj plays the game of tarnishing others, he should apologise, and such false allegations should not be made at all... He should apologise," Vijay Sinha said. Earlier today, RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav alleged that Vijay Kumar Sinha has two EPIC numbers , each with a different address and age. Addressing a press conference here, Yadav presented two different EPIC numbers, which he said belonged to Vijay Sinha. "We conducted can call it a revelation or a fraud; that is up to you and the people of Bihar. This voter list, which has been uploaded after the SIR (Special Intensive Revision of the electoral roll), in which it is clearly visible that Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha has two EPIC numbers and his age is also different in both the places, so there is fraud in the voter card as well as in the age," he said. Yadav claimed that the two EPIC numbers belong to Lakhisarai and Bankipur, respectively. "He has voter cards from two places, one is from Lakhisarai and the other is from Bankipur assembly constituency. This is of the Bankipur Assembly seat, in which his age is 60 years, and you can see his age is 57 years in Lakhisarai in the draft voter list after the SIR. The public should know who is doing fraud. Lakhisarai Assembly EPIC No is IAF3939337 while Bankipur Assembly EPIC No is AFS0853341," the RJD leader said.

Uttarakhand HC refers conflict over anticipatory bail provisions to Chief Justice bench
Representative Image DEHRADUN: A single-justice bench of the Uttarakhand high court has referred the issue of whether section 482 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), 2023 takes precedence over the Uttarakhand State Amendment under Section 438 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973, to the bench presided by the Chief Justice. The referral addresses whether the provisions of BNSS, which benefit the accused, can be applied retrospectively to earlier cases regardless of when the case was initiated. After the other bench rejected the anticipatory bail appeals, they were heard by Justice Alok Verma bench, who stated that the provision of anticipatory bail is rooted in the fundamental right to personal liberty. Expressing disagreement with the view taken by the coordinate bench, Justice Verma said, "It is a pre-emptive measure to safeguard personal liberty against false accusation or misuse of the law. Anticipatory bail is a safeguard against arbitrary arrest. Liberty is the very quintessence of a civilized existence. The BNSS is also upholding the importance of protecting personal liberty. The restrictions on granting anticipatory bail under section 438(6) of the Code (as amended by the State of Uttarakhand) are no longer in effect. " The state counsels argued that the anticipatory bail applications are not maintainable under section 438 of CrPC as amended by the State of Uttarakhand and even in terms of section 531 of BNSS. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like This is what he found in Paris after cleaning his canal, and believe me, you'll be surprised Daily Sport X Undo Per contra, counsel appearing for the applicants argued that these anticipatory bail applications are maintainable. He further said that the anticipatory bail is a substantive right, not merely a procedure. "In BNSS, there is no express bar prohibiting anticipatory bail for the offences under IPC and other Acts, even if committed before the commencement of BNSS. It must be read in a manner that protects rather than restricts the rights of the accused," the counsel said. He also cited a case of Allahabad HC in which it was held that the provisions of section 482 of BNSS would prevail over the state amendment. "When the Parliament enacts more liberal provisions, the benefit thereof should be available to all persons who may be affected, regardless of when their cases originated. Therefore, this court is of the opinion that the accused is entitled to the benefit of the more liberal provisions introduced by BNSS," Justice Verma said and referred the case to the Chief Justice.
