📸 Crystal Palace denied early screamer at Stamford Bridge
It's been a fine few months for Crystal Palace after the South Londoners lifted the FA Cup and the Community Shield within the space of three months. The Eagles thought they'd also made the perfect start to their 2024/25 Premier League campaign, as Eberechi Eze unleashed a thunderbolt of a free-kick into the net from 20 yards out. However, despite wild scenes in the away end at Stamford Bridge, the top-drawer effort was ruled out after a lengthy VAR check - Marc Guehi seemingly committing a foul amongst the bundle of players inside the area. "Giving birth was so beautiful but having your baby taken away from you minutes after to get rushed to the NICU was the most painful thing I have ever experienced. "It was the longest 3 days of my life watching my little boy fight to get stronger in the NICU. Our Family of 3 are healthy and have been home now for 3 days, God is so good!! We are blessed with the best gift and I couldn't be in a happier place." The 28-year-old woman will drive the No. 92 DGM Racing Chevrolet with sponsorship from Wawa. Decker races in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, where she has made 12 race starts. Despite driving machinery at a high speeds, she said giving birth to her son, Levi, was harder. "It was really difficult, and I didn't understand how strong I was until I was pregnant," Decker told WASW, a CBS news affiliate. "Giving birth was incredible, the best experience of my life, and it was the biggest adrenaline rush I've ever had. I go 200 miles per hour, but giving birth topped that." Decker was desperate to get back on track soon after giving birth. "I've always wanted to be a mother. I've always wanted to be a NASCAR driver and it's like full circle, everything coming together," Decker said on Fox News. "I cannot wait to get back to the track. I'm just looking forward to be back in the car doing what I love and being there with my family. "Because that's the whole reason why I fell in love with racing was I go to the racetrack with my family and the competitiveness and just the whole thing and seeing Levi get to be there is going to be the best part." The best result of her time with the NASCAR Xfinity Series was at Daytona, finishing 18th. Previously, she competed in the NASCAR Truck Series and finished fifth at Daytona during the 2020 season, securing the best result for a woman in the series. Verstappen's Blunt F1 Demand "Good for Everyone to Hear" at Red Bull
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. Red Bull Racing CEO and team principal, Laurent Mekies, has opened up on Max Verstappen's commitment to the team amid performance concerns with the RB21 F1 car. Red Bull has been facing a challenging season with respect to its title challenger, which has affected Verstappen's pace significantly. For the first time in the current ground effect era, which began in 2022, the Dutch driver isn't leading the championship. The team began to face balance problems on the RB20 in mid-2024, which led it to lose the top two spots in the Constructors' Championship. The problems seem to have been carried forward to the current season. While the four-time world champion is contracted to Red Bull until the end of 2028, news of his talks with Mercedes in the last two months for a potential move in 2026 put the rumor mill into overdrive. However, Verstappen cleared the air during the Hungarian Grand Prix weekend that he was stepping into F1's new era of regulations next year with Red Bull, thereby putting all rumors to rest. Mekies, who took over as team boss following Christian Horner's sudden ouster, said that there was no doubt about Verstappen's commitment to Red Bull. He told Sky Sports F1: Max Verstappen of the Netherlands and Oracle Red Bull Racing and Laurent Mekies, Team Principal of Oracle Red Bull Racing talk in the garage during practice ahead of the F1 Grand Prix of Belgium at... Max Verstappen of the Netherlands and Oracle Red Bull Racing and Laurent Mekies, Team Principal of Oracle Red Bull Racing talk in the garage during practice ahead of the F1 Grand Prix of Belgium at Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps on July 25, 2025 in Spa, Belgium. More"Well no, I don't think there was a real doubt [Verstappen would stay] as far as the team was concerned. Max has been saying it over and over again. "And we know what he wants. He wants a fast car. Now, the fact that he said it a bit louder this time is, I guess it's good for everyone to hear. "But as far as we are concerned, all year he has always been a part and central to the team." The Hungarian GP marked Verstappen's 200th race with Red Bull. Mekies revealed what impressed him about Verstappen off the race track, highlighting the factors that separate him from other fast drivers. He said on The Inside Track podcast: "You get to know him a little bit better... and you discover everything that is behind what you see on track. And then suddenly you understand, okay, yes, that's how you get to such an unbelievable level. "What I mean by that is that we know the on-track level and how unique that is, and then suddenly you discover Max off-track, and you discover completely off the chart level of commitment [and] love for the sport, simplicity and a direct approach to the good moments and the bad moments, and suddenly, it's becomes very clear that the combination of the two makes it untouchable and unique. "There are a lot of fast drivers out there, [but] it's an unbelievable combination to have that raw talent combined with the absolute love and commitment for the sport, and with all the understanding that he has developed thanks to both aspects."
