AI plane crash: US Golden Chassis helped AAIB download raw data from black box
After the fatal accident that destroyed the aircraft and killed 260 people on June 12, the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) retrieved the two black boxes or Enhanced Airborne Flight Recorders (EAFRs) and brought them to the national capital on June 24.
Generally, data from damaged flight recorders is downloaded after sourcing Golden Chassis and relevant download cables from other accident investigation authorities.
In the current investigation, AAIB on Saturday said the Golden Chassis or the identical EAFR unit and download cables required to download data from EAFR were sourced from the US National Transport Safety Board (NTSB).
The download from the FWD EAFR was attempted at the AAIB Lab in the national capital on June 24 and the Crash Protection Module (CPM) was retrieved from the forward EAFR and found to be in good condition.

"The CPM was mounted on the Golden Chassis and the raw data was downloaded from the EAFR. The downloaded flight data contained approximately 49 hours of flight data and 6 flights, including the event flight.
"The recovered audio was two hours in length and captured the event. Initial Analysis of the recorded audio and flight data has been done," AAIB said in its preliminary probe report on the plane accident.
According to the report, the aft EAFR was substantially damaged and could not be downloaded through conventional means.
The CPM was opened to inspect the memory card. The damage was extensive, it added.
Meanwhile, Sanjay Kumar Singh has been appointed as the Investigator-in-Charge, while Jasbir Singh Larhga is the Chief Investigator. Vipin Venu Varakoth, Veeraragavan K and Vaishnav Vijayakumar are the Investigators.
Experienced pilots, engineers, aviation medicine specialists, aviation psychologists and flight recorder specialists have been taken on board as subject matter experts to assist in the probe.

Mysuru: An ophthalmologist, after spending anxious days, is all smiles again after city police solved a theft that occurred at her home in Bogadi in May. Luckily, all the jewels stolen from her home, allegedly by a carpenter from Tamil Nadu, were recovered by Saraswathipuram police. Dr Kshama, the ophthalmologist, said the incident taught her a lesson to be cautious and not to trust strangers. Dr Kshama was shocked as a huge amount of gold was missing from the digital safe locker without any force being used. This puzzled her as the locker PIN was known only to her husband and herself. After days of worrying and thinking about how they went missing, she approached the police. Commissioner of police Seema Latkar explained the modus operandi of the carpenter and his method of opening the digital safe locker with the help of a popular search engine. Seema explained that the carpenter allegedly planned the crime while working for about a week at the doctor's home. He allegedly removed screws from the window of the restroom, from where he entered the home and committed the offence. He allegedly took away only half of the gold from the digital safe locker when the family was away from home to ensure that he was not suspected, she said. He was fluent in speaking English, which helped him reset the PIN, the commissioner of police explained. An officer said within four hours, the gang robbed four women–three at the suburban bus stand and one from the city bus stand. All three accused from TN were arrested after scanning scores of CCTV footage and examining phone numbers. About 175 gms of gold valuables worth Rs 11 lakh have been recovered from them.

Bhatkal bomb threat email: Serial hoax caller among 2 arrested
Karwar: Bhatkal Town police arrested two persons in connection with the bomb threat emails that triggered panic across the coastal town. The probe revealed that a bomb threat email was sent from Kannan Gurusamy's mobile phone to the official email of Bhatkal police on July 10. The email read "We will plant bombs in Bhatkal town," and "All the bombs will explode within 24 hours." According to M Narayana, superintendent of police, the case was a challenge for police as Bhatkal is a sensitive town. He said police took no chances in the case, though they were convinced it was a hoax message by some miscreants. "An FIR was registered under Section 351(4) of the BNS 2023 immediately after police received formal permission from the local magistrate. A cyber investigation followed, during which email headers were examined, and Google provided login data connected to a Redmi mobile and five mobile numbers linked to the accused," Narayan said. The SP said police traced the mobile phone to Gurusamy's residence at Thirumalapuram, Bodinayakanur, Theni district in Tamil Nadu. He was accused in cases under the Pocso Act, IT Act, and various sections of IPC, including theft, criminal intimidation, and public mischief. During interrogation, Kannan Gurusamy said he was summoned for questioning in a fraud case at the Munnar police station in Kerala on July 10, 2025, around 7am. T here was a person in the lockup at the Munnar police station who spoke Kannada, English, and Hindi. This person introduced himself and requested Kannan's mobile phone to make a call home. Later, Kannan realised that messages were sent from his phone. Upon inquiry, it was revealed that the person in the lockup of Munnar police station was Nitin Sharma alias Khalid, son of Surendra Sharma, an accused in several cases. Nitin, a resident of Patel Nagar, New Delhi, was a repeat offender and had 16 criminal cases across eight states. Sharma, currently lodged in Mysuru central jail as an undertrial, was previously convicted in a bomb hoax case in Nainital and served an eight-month sentence. He is now accused of using fellow inmates' phones to send fake bomb threats to police stations across the country. He sent such bomb hoax messages and made calls to several police stations and threatened to blow up these cities. Bhatkal police have taken Nitin into custody on a body warrant and brought him to the coastal town. They are conducting further investigation into his digital trail and motives. Uttara Kannada SP Narayan has urged the public to stay alert and report any suspicious cyber activity immediately.

Man loses Rs 9.4 lakh in matrimony fraud
Davanagere: CEN police in Davanagere have registered a matrimonial case, wherein a software engineer lost Rs 9.4 lakh over two months. After Tejaraj T, 29, from Ashok Nagar, registered on a matrimonial site, he was contacted by one identfied as 'Abhinaya Subhash'. "The victim, Tejaraj T, had uploaded his profile seeking an alliance on the matrimonial site. He received a message from 6011-70241238 on April 24, 2025, from one Abhinaya Subhash. The caller also claimed that she was staying in Malaysia, but has a permanent address in Chennai. Abhinaya had also given her consent to marry him. After that, they both were in contact through WhatsApp. They decided to marry after informing both their families," said CEN police officer in Davanagere. According to the officer, the suspect asked Tejaraj to invest in cryptocurrency, claiming substantial profits. She also sent him a registration link of the company, and he transferred Rs 9.4 lakh through UPI in 17 transactions. "Realising that he could withdraw his money from the site, he asked Abhinaya a way out. Abhinaya shared another contact number, which she claimed to be of customer care.
