Our Favorite Celebrity WAGS

The world of the WAGS (aka Wives and Girlfriends of professional athletes) is a tight-knit community that is constantly documented via the likes of Taylor Swift and Brittany Mahomes. However, there is plenty of #BlackGirlMagic running through the world of the WAGS, and it includes some of our faves. And with Ciara and Russell Wilson playing matchmaker, (they've paired Normani and DK Metcalf, Coco Jones and Donovan Mitchell) we love to see these celebrity women entering their soft era.

When it comes to showing the true definition of Black love both inside and outside the world of sports, few couples can match the energy of Ciara and Russell Wilson. The R&B singer and the NFL Star's love story has been so admired by many that fans were asking for the exact prayer that Ciara said to God when she was seeking her true love.
Fast forward to the present, and the happy couple has a house full of beautiful children and continues to show what a healthy relationship looks like.
Normani & DK Metcalf
Taking a page out of the book of many who came before her, Normani kept her relationship with NFL star DK Metcalf largely under wraps for several months before finally confirming their relationship via Instagram in July 2023.
Less than 2 years later, in March 2025, the couple officially announced their engagement. In a 2024 interview with Rolling Stone , Normani shared that Metcalf was 'definitely an answered prayer.'

Rapper/actress Kash Doll proved that you can find love after heartbreak, as she and NFL star Za'Darius Smith popped out together back in March, and confirmed that they were an official item. In the months since, the two have made multiple public appearances together including the 2025 BET Awards.
Coco Jones
R&B star and actress Coco Jones is riding high these days, as both her career and her personal life are totally in sync. In a surprise move for fans, in July 2025, she and boyfriend of two years, NFL star Donovan Mitchell, announced that they were engaged via a joint post on social media. Jones has been very protective of the pair's relationship prior to the engagement and provided very minimal details about who she was dating.
Megan Thee Stallion & Klay Thompson
The newest WAG couple on the block recently sent fans into a tailspin, as Grammy winner Megan Thee Stallion and NBA star Klay Thompson officially set the rumors to rest and made their relationship Instagram official courtesy of a series of photos and video. While the details of their relationship are scarce at the moment, we expect it will only be a matter of time before fans are shipping them as their new favorite celebrity couple.

Comedian Shane Gillis' awkward ESPYS monologue draws mixed reactions

Comedian Shane Gillis' opening monologue as host of the ESPYS went over awkwardly in front of some of the biggest names in sports on Wednesday night. Early on, he called out various famous faces in the Dolby Theatre crowd, including retired WNBA star Diana Taurasi, who was to receive the Icon Award later in the evening. Gillis said, "Give it up for her" after calling her "Deanna." The camera showed an unsmiling Taurasi shaking her head. Gillis quickly caught his mistake, saying, "My bad on that." Gillis moved on to WNBA superstar Caitlin Clark, who wasn't on hand. "When Caitlin Clark retires from the WNBA, she's going to work at a Waffle House so she can continue doing what she loves most: fist fighting Black women," he joked. While some in the audience laughed, others appeared uncomfortable. Gillis plowed on for 10 minutes, with jokes about President Donald Trump and Jeffrey Epstein, whose sex trafficking investigation has roiled the Justice Department and FBI. Gillis' performance drew mixed reviews on social media, with some calling him "hilarious" and others "cringey." Gillis' initial joke about North Carolina coach Bill Belichick and his 24-year-old girlfriend Jordon Hudson drew a lot of laughs. "A bookie is what Bill Belichick reads to his girlfriend before bed time," he said. "They read 'The Very Horny Caterpillar,' 'The Little Engine That Could But Needed a Pill Firs't' and of course the classic 'Goodnight Boobs.'" But the reaction was mixed as Gillis continued. "He won six Super Bowls. He's dating a hot 24 year old. Maybe if you guys won six Super Bowls you wouldn't be sitting next to a fat ugly dog wife." Gillis admitted he should have cut that part of the joke. NBA Finals MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander smiled when Gillis said, "SGA is here. Everybody sitting around him is in foul trouble." Gillis retold what he called "a dumb joke" that he said he loved from former "Saturday Night Live" comic Norm MacDonald's stint as ESPYs host in 1998. Gillis congratulated Colorado two-way player Travis Hunter for winning the Heisman Trophy. "That's something they can never take away from you unless you kill your wife and a waiter," he said, referring to the late O.J. Simpson. Before closing it out, a smiling Gillis said, "I see a lot of you don't like me and that's OK. That's it for me. That went about exactly how we all thought it was going to go. I don't know why this happened." Gillis, a known Eagles fan, also did a skit on the "tush push," the play made famous by the Philadelphia Eagles that the NFL tried to ban earlier this year. The skit featured Gillis and comedian Druski and others discussing the origins of the "tush push." Gillis, a Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, native, even ripped the other teams in the NFL that voted to ban the "tush push" and called them "cowards." Gillis joked with Birds head coach Nick Sirianni in the crowd after the skit aired. "It was kinda exactly how you just showed it right there," Sirianni joked. An emotional Katie Schumacher-Cawley accepted the Jimmy V Award for Perseverance with her husband and children looking on. The Penn State women's volleyball coach was diagnosed with Stage 2 breast cancer in September. She continued coaching without missing a practice and became the first woman to guide a team to the NCAA national championship. "Cancer changed my life but it didn't take it. It didn't take my belief, it didn't take my spirit and it didn't take my team," she said. The Indianapolis Colts and former U.S. Open tennis champion Sloane Stephens were among the winners at the 11th annual Sports Humanitarian Awards. The Colts were honored as the team of the year for their Kicking the Stigma campaign to raise mental health awareness and expand access to treatment. Stephens received the Muhammad Ali award for her namesake foundation that works to make tennis more inclusive through access, representation and support for kids on and off the court. She beat out Washington Wizards guard CJ McCollum and Washington Capitals star Alex Ovechkin. Michele Kang, the billionaire owner of the NWSL's Washington Spirit, was chosen as the Sports Philanthropist of the Year. Billy Bean, former MLB player and executive, was posthumously honored with the Stuart Scott ENSPIRE Award.

Josh Allen determined not to let 'Hard Knocks' cameras become distraction for Bills in training camp

During the NFL annual league meeting in April, the league changed its rule that allowed teams making the playoffs to avoid HBO's "Hard Knocks." Enter the Buffalo Bills, who will be the featured team during "Hard Knocks: Training Camp" in just a couple of weeks as teams get prepared to head to their respective facilities to gear up for the new year. It's the first time since the show debuted in 2001 that the Bills will be featured, and quarterback Josh Allen, the reigning MVP after a tremendous 2024 campaign, knows it's going to be a different feeling with cameras all around when he gets back to Buffalo. While speaking with Fox News Digital on behalf of Natrol, the drug-free sleep-aid brand he partnered with, Allen explained how he understands the excitement around watching the Bills get ready for a season. However, there is one main priority that must be above all else in terms of HBO and NFL Films cameras being around. "First and foremost, cannot let it become a distraction," Allen said. "Got to keep the main thing, the main thing, and that's trying to be the best we can be on the field. Making sure we're doing everything right, and not letting the cameras distract us. I think that's going to be a sign of a good team." But Allen also understands that "Hard Knocks" provides fans with a behind-the-scenes look at one of the most grueling sports in the world, allowing players to be humanized more, while letting their personalities shine throughout training camp battles. Now that it's a perennial playoff team that was just a few plays away from a potential Super Bowl last season, the hype and attention is even greater. "For the longest time, 'Hard Knocks' was usually reserved for, I wouldn't say bad teams, but teams that didn't make the playoffs the year before," Allen said. "I know they lifted that rule, and we're kind of the first team that's coming from the playoffs to be on it, in terms of the training camp portion of it. So, yeah, it's going to be a little different, but we got a lot of veteran leadership in the locker room and a lot of young guys who we're going to have to take on our shoulders and be like, 'Hey, this is how we're doing it.' "Again, you want to be a star and the face of this and that and the other? Let your play take care of it. Still be yourself and let your personality out. I think Coach [Sean] McDermott has been doing a great job ever since I was rookie of making sure, whoever you are, be that person all the time, right? Being as authentic as possible is one of the greatest qualities that you can have, and this is no different." Since 2019, the Bills have made the playoffs every season, yet they have not made it past the rest of their AFC foes to reach the Super Bowl despite having a talented team, especially with Allen at the helm. But with the goal remaining the same, fans will get an inside look at how McDermott, Allen and the rest of the team prepare for what is always a long journey ahead, with the final goal always being to hoist the Lombardi Trophy, which would be a first for a Buffalo squad. "You're going to see a lot of cool stories and cool personalities on our team," Allen said. BETTER SLEEP, BETTER PLAY WITH NATROL Those vivid dreams Allen has can be credited to Natrol, which he believes can give him an edge this season. "I only try to partner with brands that I fully believe in, and I think this next part of the process of my journey is unlocking that piece of my game and my life really. I do believe Natrol can help me do that," he said. Allen explained how melatonin products in previous years didn't affect his body the way he had hoped, but during a trip home from Italy last offseason, he slept 10 hours after taking Natrol, and he said he was "all in" after that. As a quarterback, being sharp and alert is a requirement all season long, no matter if it's the film room, on the practice field, or in a game. Getting a good night's rest is crucial, so whether Allen wants a melatonin product to adjust to the east coast time difference from his usual west coast stay, or a melatonin-free "Sleep & Restore" product, Natrol has everything he needs. "I do fully believe that I haven't been a great sleeper — my mind is racing. But every great performance starts with a great night's sleep, and every great night's sleep starts with Natrol. It's a great tagline we like to say, but I truly believe this can unlock another part of my game, and I can still continue to get better," he said.
