Teachers Advised To Avoid Joining Motivational Programmes With Unclear Content
Its minister, Fadhlina Sidek said teachers need to refer to the ministry for appropriate support.
"We should avoid getting involved in motivational programmes whose content and 'substance' we are unsure of.
"We should focus on our issues at the school level,' she said in a media conference after visiting Sekolah Menegah Kebangsaan (SMK) Taman Widuri here today.
She was giving her comments and advice to educators if they were involved in the marriage motivation programme (eHATI) targeting working women facing household crises.
Elaborating further, Fadhlina said the MOE has various development and motivational programmes for teachers, including counselling services that can be fully utilised.
'We do not want our teachers involved in programmes that can raise doubts or undermine the integrity of the teaching profession. We provide many internal development programmes.
"Therefore, my advice is to be careful. Avoid participating in inappropriate external programmes. Focus on motivation in our education," she said.
Yesterday, Selangor police chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan confirmed that an inquiry paper had been opened to identify criminal offences related to the eHATI marriage motivational programme, which was accused of promoting inappropriate and provocative content.

'Turun Anwar' Rally: No Notice Makes It Difficult, But Police Will Facilitate
PUTRAJAYA, July 16 (Bernama) -- The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) will facilitate the Himpunan Turun Anwar rally, scheduled to take place in the capital on July 26. Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said this is to ensure the safety and orderliness of all participants, even though rally organisers are no longer required to submit prior notice to the police, following a Federal Court ruling that declared Section 9(5) of the Peaceful Assembly Act 2012 unconstitutional. He acknowledged, however, that the court's ruling has made it a little difficult for PDRM to plan appropriate security measures. 'If organisers were still required to inform the police, we would at least know the venue and expected crowd size, allowing us to deploy personnel accordingly, not to obstruct, but to facilitate the gathering. 'But now, without prior notification, the police must fully mobilise all available resources to devise an appropriate strategy,' he told a press conference after the Home Ministry's monthly assembly today. Despite the challenges, Saifuddin gave assurance that PDRM will manage security professionally. He also reminded organisers and participants to abide by the existing provisions of the Peaceful Assembly Act 2012. Organisers, he said, are responsible for ensuring that no dangerous weapons are brought to the rally, no speeches undermine the monarchy or religious harmony, and that children are not involved in the gathering. 'If police take action, don't claim your freedom has been violated because the relevant laws still apply.

Over 2,460 Domestic Violence Cases Recorded Between January And April
GENERAL KUALA TERENGGANU, July 16 (Bernama) -- A total of 2,467 cases of domestic violence were recorded nationwide from January to April this year. Deputy Women, Family and Community Development Minister Datuk Seri Dr Noraini Ahmad said studies showed that housewives were the group with the highest incidence of domestic violence. "But there may be some (victims) who do not even realise they are being victims... because this abuse is not just physical, it is emotional abuse. Sometimes the perpetrators can do 'reverse psychology' as well. "Studies also found that most abuse is committed by the people closest to the victim or among family members," she said when met by reporters after officiating the Women's Wellbeing Advocacy Programme @ Domestic Violence (Aku Wanita @ KRT) here today. Meanwhile, Noraini said that from January to April, 104 cases of domestic violence were recorded in Terengganu. She said that although the number showed a decrease compared to the same period last year, which was 130 cases, the figure was still worrying. Noraini said in this regard, the ministry had taken various initiatives to help reduce the number of domestic violence cases including through the Aku Wanita @ KRT Programme designed to approach the community in addressing the problem. She said that through the programme, issues related to domestic violence will be discussed in depth with experts and survivors, namely victims who have successfully escaped domestic violence problems, for them to share their stories of recovery. 'In addition, a psychological intervention session called 'K-Chat' has also been introduced through this programme. This session is a group intervention between survivors with trained counselors and facilitators to help participants understand and deal with issues that have befallen them due to violence,' she added.
