Kelly Brook opens up on the extent of her London Marathon injury and reveals she's 'in a boot for six weeks' with a stress fracture

Daily Mail07-05-2025

Kelly Brook has opened up on the extent of her London Marathon injury and revealed she's going to be 'in a boot for the next six weeks' with a stress fracture.
The TV personality, 45, ran the marathon last month alongside her husband, Jeremy Parisi, whom she married in 2022.
However, just days after completing the gruelling 26.2 mile race, Kelly explained that she knew something wasn't right with her foot.
Speaking on her Heart Drive show at the time, she recalled: 'I went for a post-marathon scan on my foot today.
'I've been following Jenni Falconer who also ran the London Marathon. She's all strapped up in a boot, someone stamped on her foot and cracked a bone.
'My foot looked a bit like hers' so I sent her a picture and she said 'go get an X-ray!' Well, I've walked to three to be told I've got a broken foot. I was like I could have told you that at hospital number one!'

What is a stress fracture?
Stress fractures are small breaks to a bone and according to the NHS, the most common stress fracture seen in the Emergency Department is in the foot.
They are often caused from overuse such as repeatedly jumping up and down or running long distances.
These fractures can also result from increasing activity too quickly or doing the same activity lots of times.
She continued: 'I cannot believe the ordeal! What time is it now? Four-thirty. I set off at nine o'clock this morning, I'm not joking!'
'[Someone] wheeled me out to the road and then just off loaded me and I had to hobble across the road to another hospital who then didn't have an MRI. Oh, it's been a whole ordeal! The only thing they did wheel me to is a cashier so I could pay for it!'
Kelly clarified: 'It seems that I've got a stress fracture which is quite common with first time marathon runners because we don't know what we're doing. So, I'm in a boot and it looks like I'll be in a boot for six weeks. But I've got a medal!
'I heard a crack, and I thought I don't know if that is a blister popping or if that is a bone, let's not think about it, let's just keep going!'

Despite her injury, Kelly has been continuing with work and even shared a snap of her boot on the desk with a pair of sunglasses on it, joking 'she's cute'.
And on Wednesday, the producer of her Heart show, Will, shared an insight into just how much she's been struggling.
Posting to Instagram, he shared a clip of Kelly walking down the corridoor in her boot, as he jokingly quipped: 'After one marathon and one particularly brittle tortilla chip, @iamkb is still going strong.'
Reposting to her own story, Kelly joined in with the joke as she added: 'I thought I'd just hop on here because I don't think the video that Will the producer took of me is a true representation of who I really am.'

The radio star wrote in her caption: 'It's been a week,' before producer Will went on to do an impression of her.
Kelly laughed: 'This is supposed to be me. I have to lift my leg up cause i dont have the strength to put it up myself.'
It comes after Kelly revealed the gruelling injuries she suffered while training for the marathon.
Speaking to The Sun, Kelly revealed she's stocked up on tubs of Vaseline after finding herself bleeding during training.
She said: 'I have gone through pots of Vaseline and on Sunday I was away. I was tapering and had a quick 10k to do.
'I panicked because I left my Vaseline at home so I went without. Nothing prepares you for the chaffing! I was bleeding after 10k.'
The former Page 3 model also recently admitted it's been 'challenging' training with her husband Jeremy.
She joked he 'has been like her carer' when it comes to running in recent months.
In an exclusive interview with MailOnline, Kelly - who has been working with Slimfast - said running with Jeremy can also become quite competitive and challenging for her.
She said: 'In terms of training and doing things together on a physical level, that is a bit more challenging because he's super competitive and he's very fit and sometimes when he comes out on a run with me, it's like he's my carer!
'He's there giving me electrolytes, giving me another energy gel, he's there walking and I'm there shuffling thinking I'm running! It's harder for him.
'I don't want to be like that, I want to feel on par with him. I feel like I've let my fitness go a bit.
'This is why I'm a bit more of an advocate now and getting out and going for a run because I hadn't done it for years.'
While Kelly continues to strive to get her fitness on par with her husband's, she noted how running has vastly improved her mental health.
'Running gave me clarity and there was a whole different approach to everything I would do, I was so much more in control' she explained.
'I feel like the exercise has really helped with my mental health actually. More so than I thought.'
She added: 'We are having a bit of a lifestyle overhaul at the moment, which is amazing. We've just bought our house, we've been renting this for the last two years but we've now bought it so there's going to be decorating and doing lots of fun stuff.
'So I feel like we're going into a chapter of our life where as we get older, we just want to be healthier.... my husband turns 40 this year. I just feel like we're in a really good dynamic at the moment.'
Kelly also told how women put 'too much pressure' on themselves to lose weight.
The radio host went from a size 12 to 16 in 2018 after moving back to the UK from LA but dropped the weight with the help of SlimFast for which she is a brand ambassador.
Elsewhere in the interview, Kelly encouraged women not to stress too much about looking a certain way, especially in the eyes of their partners, as she noted that for the most part, men don't even 'notice' the body hang-ups that women do.
In a candid and open chat about weight loss, healthy living and body confidence, the star - who has maintained her weight with the assistance of SlimFast - said: 'We put so much pressure on ourselves, sometimes it doesn't even come from our other halves.

Couple discover nursery picture of them sitting next to each other seven years after falling in love

When electrical engineer Micheal Moore dropped his crush Ashleigh a message on Instagram in 2018, he was hoping for a chance to meet-up. Luckily for him, Ashleigh instantly replied, and the pair, both from Runcorn in Cheshire, hit it off. Within a few years they were married with a son. But incredibly the couple's love story started decades before, unbeknownst to them. The couple, now both 26, actually attended the same nursery and even sat next to one another in a class photo - something they didn't discover until seven years after they got together. In a nursery school picture that had been gathering dust in a box at Ashleigh's parents' home, the couple spotted two familiar faces staring back at them. 'It wasn't until we were moving out and sorting through pictures at our parents' house that we found the picture and realised we were sitting next to each other. 'We couldn't believe it. It was a lovely feeling to know that we've been a part of each other's lives for so long.' Ashleigh, a stay at home mother to the couple's three-year-old son, Alfie, shared the image on TikTok where it has been viewed almost 800,000 times and received more than 400 comments. She is expecting baby number two this July and their families could not be happier that they ended up together. 'Our family and friends absolutely love that we ended up together and call us childhood sweethearts. 'We had a brief relationship in secondary school at the age of 13 for a few months but remained close friends as we were in the same lessons. 'We left secondary school at the age of 16 in 2015. 'Michael went to Chester to do an apprenticeship and I went to sixth form so we lost contact. 'It wasn't until 2018 that we got back in contact through Instagram.' The cute photo that Ashleigh shared online received adoring comments from viewers - and even led to others sharing their own stories. One person said: 'Love how you both have the same expression on your face. So cute. Congratulations.' A second viewer said: 'Oh I love a happy ending. I married my childhood sweetheart who lived six doors from me. Boyfriend and girlfriend since age nine and still together both age 62 now. 'This is me with my husband too. Our nursery photo together was handed round our wedding during my dads speech,' added Shannon. Another person said: 'Currently looking at who's sat next to my children in their pictures and wondering if any will be their future spouse.' 'Wow. That is the cutest thing I've seen today, fair play,' added a fifth viewer. It comes after another couple lucky enough to rekindle a decade-old relationship - albeit one with a very different beginning - were UK-based Zoe and Michael. Club promoter Zoe, who fell in love on holiday, restarted her relationship and ultimately got married to her fling – 10 years after they first met each other. The 33-year-old was working in Ayia Napa, Cyprus, giving out shots, when she met Michael, also 33, who was on a lads holiday in 2012. The pair enjoyed a sparky holiday romance, meeting several times during Michael's trip. Zoe even made a passing comment to a friend about Michael – claiming she had met the man she'll 'marry one day'. Michael returned to Leeds, Yorkshire, after a week, while Zoe flew back to the UK a few months later to start a course at the University in Bournemouth, Dorset. Five years later, Zoe sent a drunken message to Michael and, to her surprise, the connection was 'still there'. The pair resumed their romance and Zoe left her job as an Emirates air steward, moving to Leeds to be with Michael. They went on tie the knot in May 2022, 10 years after they first met on holiday, and recently welcomed their firstborn, son Leo, in February 2023. Zoe, a content creator, from Leeds, Yorkshire, said: 'When I met Michael, I remember saying to my friend, "I've met the man I'm going to marry." 'During that holiday, he said the same thing to his mates about me. 'I never in a million years imagined I'd actually marry him 10 years later. 'Despite losing contact, the connection was still there. 'It's not all been plain sailing, but I'm so glad I followed my heart.' Zoe was working as a promoter in Cyprus during the summer of 2012, while taking a gap year before starting university. Michael was on a lads holiday when he first crossed paths with Zoe. She said: 'We met when I was encouraging them to come in for shots. 'I don't remember what we spoke about, but I remember how he made me feel. 'There was an immediate connection, and I had this gut feeling about us.' During Michael's week-long trip, they met up several times for dates on the Island. They exchanged numbers and continued messaging when Michael returned home a week later. Zoe flew back to the UK in September 2012, ready to start university. She said: 'We were both in very different places in life. 'He was focused on his career, and I was about to start my course. 'We ended up drifting apart, but we kept liking each other's photos on Facebook.' Five years later, in 2019, Zoe had just gone through a break-up when she met with a friend. They started discussing past relationship, and her friend reminded her of 'Michael from holiday'. 'We had a few bottles of wine, and I looked him up online,' she said. 'He had two children but was also single. 'I genuinely wasn't expecting anything to come from it, but I sent a drunk message to see how he was doing. 'It was like no time had passed. 'We immediately hit it off again.' Zoe, who was working as an air steward at the time, ended up leaving her job and moving to Yorkshire to live with Michael in 2020. The pair were hit with lockdown but despite the difficult circumstances, they made it work. She said: 'It was definitely tough at times - I moved my entire life there. 'I never expected to become a stepmum. 'But we took it all slowly, and the kids were so welcoming. 'Through all of it, Michael was so loving and supportive. I knew I had made the right decision.' During a trip to Greece in September 2020, Michael proposed to Zoe and they started planning the wedding. They tied the knot two years later in Athens, Greece, in May 2022, with 55 close family and friends. 'We met near Greece, so it's always been very special to us,' she said. 'The proposal was perfect, and it really cemented my feelings that I'd made the right decision. 'It was such a magical wedding.' In 2023, the couple were overjoyed to welcome their son Leo, 20-months-old. Zoe said: 'We've got through difficult times, but throughout all of it I've had Michael by my side. 'Things might not always be the fairytale you envision, but if put in the work it could be so much better.'

EastEnders star suspended by BBC after disabled slur

The Sun on Sunday first reported that a video emerged of the actor who plays Jay Brown on the soap using the term to describe the people of Blackpool, the town where the show was being filmed. Borthwick is said to have made the offensive remark on a phone video while the Strictly cast were at Blackpool Tower Ballroom last November. A spokesperson for the BBC said: 'This language is entirely unacceptable and in no way reflects the values or standards we hold and expect at the BBC. 'We have robust processes in place for this.' Warren Kirwan, media manager at disability equality charity Scope, said: 'Attitudes and language like this are never acceptable. 'It's not just ignorant and hurtful to disabled people, it has wider consequences. 'Negative attitudes hold disabled people back in all areas of life, from getting a job to shopping on the high street. 'Mr Borthwick needs to reflect on what he said, educate himself and do better. 'We hope he takes the opportunity to get to know the reality of disabled people's lives.' Borthwick won the Strictly 2023 Christmas special with Nancy Xu, and won the best actor gong at the Inside Soap Awards in September that year, with the show recognised with the best storyline for Loving And Losing Lola, about character Lola Pearce-Brown's brain tumour diagnosis. As part of the storyline, Borthwick, as Lola's husband Jay, and Emma Barton, as Honey Mitchell, ran the London Marathon in character in honour of Lola after her death. His suspension comes after Wynne Evans last week said he had been dropped by the BBC, following an apology saying that he used 'inappropriate language' during the launch of the Strictly Come Dancing tour. The Welsh opera singer, 53, known for the insurance advertisements, will no longer be a BBC Radio Wales presenter, he announced on May 30. Earlier this year, he apologised for language that he called 'inappropriate and unacceptable' after The Mail On Sunday reported that Evans was heard making a remark to a woman in a video filmed during the Strictly launch event. It is understood he was given a warning over the remark by tour producers. In January, he said: 'I've agreed with the BBC that I'll take some time out from my radio show and the Strictly Live tour, as well as my other public commitments, to prioritise my wellbeing. 'I am deeply sorry for the pain my inappropriate actions have caused, and plan to take this time for self-reflection. 'Apologies to those I won't get to see at the remaining performances and I'm grateful to my fellow tour gang for all the amazing support they have given me.' The singer, who performed in the 25th anniversary of The Phantom Of The Opera and also won 2023's Celebrity MasterChef, told The Sun on Sunday earlier this month that the Strictly comment was not sexual or directed at one of the female cast but was a nickname for fellow contestant Borthwick. He told the paper: 'I didn't see the statement, Old Spit-roast Boy was a nickname for Jamie Borthwick. I'm not a bad guy, I'm not a misogynist, I'm not any of these things.' Evans added: 'And so I went, 'I'm so sorry'. And that was taken as a formal apology, so the press team issued a statement. I didn't see it. 'When I read the apology within the context of the story as it had been written, I was absolutely horrified.' The Strictly tour saw contestants of the most recent series return to the dancefloor, including Love Island star Tasha Ghouri, actress Sarah Hadland, JLS singer JB Gill, The X Factor winner Shayne Ward and Gladiators star Montell Douglas. They toured the country alongside Strictly judges Shirley Ballas, Anton Du Beke, Craig Revel Horwood and Motsi Mabuse, performing in cities including Birmingham, Sheffield, Newcastle, Liverpool, Leeds, Manchester and London.

The I'm A Celeb king, 34, raised more than £1.5m for Unicef by running and biking 260 miles from Stamford Bridge, Chelsea, to Old Trafford, Manchester, where the game will be played at the weekend. 6 Sam Thompson has given a health update ahead of his Soccer Aid clash with ex Zara McDermott's new man Credit: Instagram 6 Sam recently said his body is still suffering after his incredible charity event Credit: Splash 6 Sam's ex Zara's new man Louis will also be playing at Soccer Aid Credit: Getty But Sam has since revealed tat his Soccer Aid appearance is hanging in the balance as he continues to recover from his gruelling charity run. Now, in a new health update, Sam said: ' 'Trying to get those legs right for soccer aid!! I WILL play a part [laughing face emoji].' He could be seen standing in an ice bath in his post shared to fans, and held onto the sides while grimacing. The star seemed to suggest that he will be doing all he can from now until Soccer Aid, to make sure he can be a part of the day. The former Made In Chelsea star is set to come face-to-face with ex girlfriend Zara's new man, One Direction star Louis Tomlinson, if he takes part. Both Sam and Louis will be playing for England, which they have done in previous years. It follows another recent update from the star, while speaking on Hits Radio. He said his body is still suffering, and explained: 'I am so tired but elated. I'm so glad we got it done… "Never again [am I getting on a bike] I think I'm prone to saddle issues! After day one I still to this point can't feel bits of my privates. I'm being deadly serious! Sam Thompson breaks down in tears as he's comforted by sister Louise and family after completing 260-mile endurance challenge on This Morning "The bike is a wild thing, Tracey who was with me going up these hills when we were skirting round the edge of Wales, that was mad and you're just going so slowly and you feel like your bike is going to topple over! I did think to myself this is the first time I've ridden a bike in so long..." Detailing how adapting for one leg issue has aggravated others, Sam continued: "Because I was running in a different way my shin was really inflamed so I couldn't even run on my tiptoes so I was running side to side. "I describe it as plugging holes, so like the calf tears so that's one hole you've got to plug so then I run on my tiptoes with my leg straight. "OK well that then messes up my ankle ligaments because everything is running through your ankle; then your ankle ligament explodes so then you can't do that... you're trying to play chess against yourself, whilst trying not to panic because I can't move my leg and it's still pretty bad." Though it's up in the air if he'll be fit in time to step onto the pitch at the weekend, Sam is still going to be a presence at training sessions in the build up under the care of Gary the physio. He said: "I'm just going to go lie on his bed every single day and get a rub down...!" Sam cuddled his sister Louise after finishing the challenge but his girlfriend Samie Elishi wasn't in attendance. He also received a phone call from Orlando Bloom in the This Morning studio who congratulated him on the superhuman effort. Chris Hughes, Ryan Libbey and Josh Patterson were all on hand at various points of the challenge to offer support. 6 Both Sam and Louis will be playing for England, which they have done in previous years Credit: Getty 6 Sam recently updated fans on Hits Radio Credit: Instagram
