Barcelona were crowned La Liga champions for the 28th time in their history after defeating Espanyol 2-0 on Thursday evening in the 36th round of the competition, with two rounds remaining.
Barcelona now has 86 points, seven points ahead of Real Madrid, clinching the league title, which also includes the Spanish Super Cup and the Copa del Rey, which they won at the expense of their rivals. Espanyol, meanwhile, suffered their 17th loss in the competition this season and their fourth in a row, and are now in 16th place with 39 points.
Barcelona took the lead in the 53rd minute through Lamine Yamal, before teammate Fermin Lopez added the second goal in the fifth minute of stoppage time.
