Chris Kirkpatrick has shared a message of support following Justin Timberlake's Lyme disease diagnosis.
Newsweek reached out to Timberlake's representative via email for comment on Friday.
The Context
Timberlake and Kirkpatrick, along with JC Chasez, Joey Fatone and Lance Bass, were bandmates in the popular boy band NSYNC.
Their self-titled debut album *NSYNC was released in 1998 and included hits like "Tearin' Up My Heart" and "I Want You Back." The musicians went on to have success with albums like No Strings Attached and Celebrity, and they were nominated for eight Grammy Awards.
Timberlake later embarked on a solo career, and most recently wrapped up his "Forget Tomorrow World Tour." The tour kicked off in April 2024 in Vancouver and concluded on Wednesday in Turkey.

On Thursday, Timberlake shared a lengthy message via Instagram about his Lyme disease diagnosis, which he called "relentlessly debilitating."
"I've been battling some health issues, and was diagnosed with Lyme disease—which I don't say so you feel bad for me—but to shed some light on what I've been up against behind the scenes," he wrote.
"When I first got the diagnosis I was shocked for sure. But, at least I could understand why I would be onstage and in a massive amount of nerve pain or, just feeling crazy fatigue or sickness," the 44-year-old continued. "I was faced with a personal decision. Stop touring? Or, keep going and figure it out. I decided the joy that performing brings me far outweighs the fleeting stress my body was feeling. I'm so glad I kept going."
Timberlake added that he was "reluctant to talk about" it because he was "raised to keep something like this to yourself." However, he decided to share his health update to avoid being "misinterpreted" and to feel "more connected" with his fans.
Following his message, Kirkpatrick shared his own post via Instagram. "I've always known my little bro was tough—but this tour showed me a whole new level of strength," he said. "Watching him battle Lyme disease day in and day out, while still getting on that stage night after night, was something I'll never forget. The long days, the travel, the exhaustion—and yet, he never gave up. No complaints, no excuses—just heart, grit, and pure determination. That kind of resilience is rare."
The 53-year-old added: "I couldn't be more proud to call him my friend. Tour life is already a grind, but doing it while fighting Lyme disease? That's superhero status. Here's to strength, perseverance, and one hell of a tour. Love you little bro!"
Timberlake responded to his post with three heart emojis.
The news comes following criticism over his performance at the Electric Castle festival in Romania last month. In a TikTok video with over 7.2 million views, user @themutesinger accused the Trolls star of being "mute."
"Dude took a day off on stage," the caption read.
In the comments section, a separate TikToker wrote in a note with nearly 90,000 likes: "This performance could've been an email."
What Is Lyme Disease and What Are the Symptoms?
According to the Mayo Clinic, "Lyme disease is an illness caused by borrelia bacteria. Humans usually get Lyme disease from the bite of a tick carrying the bacteria."
The website states that "symptoms of Lyme disease vary" and "usually show up in stages." They can include a rash with a single circle around it, fever, headache, joint stiffness and extreme tiredness.
Other celebrities who have spoken out having Lyme disease are Shania Twain, Justin Bieber, Bella Hadid and more.
What People Are Saying
Underneath Timberlake's Instagram post, people shared supportive messages.
Former Bachelor star Ashley Iaconetti said: "We love you, Justin! You gave me and my friend one of the best memories of our lives on this tour! THANK YOU! Emotional, open Justin is awesome. I'm so sorry for the diagnosis and the struggles that come with it. They need to be doing more research and actually recognize this disease. Enjoy all the well deserved rest and family time!"
MTV posted three mending heart emojis.
The T-Mobile Center in Kansas City, Missouri, where Timberlake stopped on his tour last year, wrote: "KC loves you and thanks for showing us why you are a true legend and pro this past Dec!! Rooting for you always!"
What Happens Next?
Timberlake—who has two sons, Silas and Phineas, with wife Jessica Biel—hinted he was gearing up to enjoy much-needed rest.
"To Jess, Silas, and Phin... nothing is more powerful than your unconditional love," he concluded his Instagram post. "You are my heart and my home. I'm on my way..."

Pamela Anderson Responds to Meghan Markle Plagiarism Claim

Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. Pamela Anderson has shot down allegations Meghan Markle plagiarized her cooking show during an interview on live TV. The Duchess of Sussex debuted With Love, Meghan on Netflix in March, but some online critics suggested the idea was a copy of Anderson's show, Pamela's Cooking With Love. Andy Cohen asked the Naked Gun actor whether she agreed during her appearance on his show Watch What Happens Live. As Ever/Instagram Why It Matters Meghan's Netflix show has faced a barrage of criticism from reviewers across the U.S. media as well as the many social media users who routinely mock the duchess. And Meghan's five-year deal with the streaming giant ends in September, raising questions about whether it will be renewed. In that context, Meghan might well find it something of a relief to hear someone come to her defense. What To Know Cohen, previously a guest on Meghan's first podcast Archetypes, asked Anderson: "On a scale from one to 10, how much of a rip-off did you feel like With Love, Meghan was of your show, Pamela's Cooking With Love? There were articles saying that these two shows were very similar." Anderson replied: "One. I didn't." Cohen said: "One? On a scale from one to 10, you did not see any similarities?" Pamela about being compared to "With love,Meghan" — That 1 (@ihtiandrs12) August 4, 2025 "No," Anderson replied. "I didn't really look, but I mean I didn't invent cooking shows. She's just doing her thing." A clip of the exchange was viewed more than 92,000 times after being on X with the message: "Pamela about being compared to 'With love, Meghan.'" What People Are Saying One post on social media read: "Meghan Markle copied Pamela Andersons gestures right down to hand-movements in her Netflix show." Another account wrote: "Meghan Markle's With Love, Meghan vs. Pamela Anderson's Pamela's Cooking With Love? The difference couldn't be clearer. One is a genuine celebration of food, family, and authenticity, while the other is a shallow, copy cat attempt to sell a polished image." Pamela's show... — Meghan Markle Parody (@queenofmemes80) February 24, 2025 "Pamela's show exudes warmth. She highlights chefs and their craft, focusing on family, making it relatable to anyone who values good company and fresh home-cooked meals. It's down-to-earth, inviting, and real." Others defended the duchess, with one writing: "The British Media fetish of creating imaginary enemies and scenario about Meghan Sussex and EVERY Famous Person, that walks this earth needs to be studied. So happy Pamela Anderson & Gwyneth Paltrow didn't entertain the #TBM and the never ending fantasies they continue to create." Another said: "She also said she didn't invent cooking shows, & Meghan is doing her thing. Absolutely. Meghan is doing her own thing. She's living life on her terms. Good on Pamela for refusing to join in the hate campaign against Meghan. It's nice to see there's still decent & honest people about." What Happens Next Meghan has until September to renegotiate the Netflix TV deal she signed with Prince Harry in September 2020. Netflix is also an equity partner in her lifestyle business As Ever, which launches its latest wine, a 2024 rosé, on Tuesday. Jack Royston is chief royal correspondent for Newsweek, based in London. Entertainment gossip and news from Newsweek's network of contributors It looks like the Spider-Verse is getting a lot more anarchy. Deadline reports that an animated "Spider-Punk" movie is in development at Sony. Daniel Kaluuya and Ajon Singh are writing the film. Along with making his Marvel Universe debut in 2018's "Black Panther," Kaluuya also voiced Hobie Brown, aka Spider-Punk in 2023's "Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse" and is set to reprise the role in the threequel "Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse." Read More: 'Spider-Man: Brand New Day' Teaser Previews New Costume The assumption is that Kaluuya will once again voice the character for "Spider-Punk." So far, all plot details are tightly under wraps. Hobie Brown first showed up in 2015's "Amazing Spider-Man" #10 from Marvel Comics as part of an army of Spidey variants from across the multiverse in the "Spider-Verse" event. Hobie Brown, aka Spider-Punk. Hobie Brown, aka Spider-Punk. Marvel Comics Spider-Punk hails from Earth-138 where all the superheroes and villains include a bit more punk flavoring. There are, for example, punk versions on Hobie Brown's world of Captain America, Daredevil, Ironheart, and more. Instead of having rage as a catalyst, the Earth-138 version of Bruce Banner transforms into the Hulk by listening to a specific mixed tape. Of the many multiverse variants of Spider-Man, Spider-Punk has proven to be one of the most popular. Along with getting a prime spot in the "Spider-Verse" films, the character has had a number of his own comic book miniseries; 2022's "Spider-Punk" and 2024's "Spider-Punk: Arms Race." "Spider-Punk" won't be the only "Spider-Verse" spinoff. Still coming next year on MGM+ is "Spider-Noir," with Nicolas Cage reprising the role of Spider-Man Noir he first voiced in "Into the Spider-Verse." Unlike the film, "Spider-Noir" will be a live-action series. In 2018, "Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse" became what many name one of the best films in the superhero genre, along with pulling in $393 million. Its sequel, "Across the Spider-Verse," did even better, taking in $690 million at the global box office. "Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse" is scheduled to hit theaters June 25, 2027. While Marvel fans may know him best as both Spider-Punk and W'Kabi of "Black Panther," beyond the Marvel Universe Kaluuya is best remembered for his Oscar-nominated performance in "Get Out" and his Oscar-winning turn in "Judas and the Black Messiah."
