Festival discount: Railways to start round trip offer
The scheme can be availed by passengers who book their return journey within a set time period and for the same class with the same origin and destination. The scheme is applicable to all trains, excluding 'flexi fare' trains, meaning passengers taking Rajdhani, Tejas, Duronto, Shatabdi and Vande Bharat services can't avail the discount.
Ticket booking for the scheme will start on Aug 14 for travel between Oct 13 and Oct 26.
Subsequently, return journey tickets can be booked using the connecting journey feature for the train start date between Nov 17 and Dec 1. The mandatory norms of 60 days for advance reservation period will not be applicable for booking return ticket.
This initiative is being carried out to avoid rush, ensure hassle-free booking, redistribute peak traffic during the festival season and ensure both side utilisation of trains, including special trains, the ministry said.

Surat: A 54-year-old Surat businessman has filed a complaint at Khatodara police station against his company's chartered accountant and three of his relatives over an alleged Rs 18.73 crore fraud. The accused, Kailash Chandra Lohiya, is alleged to have removed Vijay Shah's name from the company he founded without his knowledge and failed to return the money Shah had transferred to the firm. Shah, a resident of Bhatar in Surat, lives with his family in Oklahoma, USA, from where he runs businesses in real estate, water purifiers and hotels across the USA, Thailand and India. He appointed Lohiya as the chartered accountant of his company, Hightech Water Solution Pvt Ltd, to manage audits and other operations. As frequent overseas travel kept him from managing all his ventures, Shah, in 2013, handed over the company's administration to Lohiya, made him a director, and transferred 50% shares worth Rs 6.43 crore to him. However, in 2017, Lohiya allegedly appointed his wife Deesha, mother-in-law Usha, and brother-in-law Pradeep Agrawal as directors without Shah's consent. Mangaluru: The Mangalore Runners Club turned their regular Sunday group run into a memorable cultural experience with a special Mangalore Heritage Run covering 8km through the city's most historically significant spots. Over 100 members, many dressed in vibrant cultural attire, began and ended the run at the Kanara Chamber of Commerce & Industry (KCCI).
