ITV Coronation Street villain set for return to the cobbles
Bosses of the ITV soap have teased that "Mick is a man on a mission" in his new story.
However, fans aren't excited, with some saying it is "predictable".
A post shared by Coronation Street (@coronationstreet)
Layton's character, Mick, is behind bars as he awaits trial for killing PC Craig Tinker (Colson Smith).
It is revealed that in an upcoming story on the ITV soap, after getting news that his family is falling apart, Mick orchestrates a prison break and plans to run away with Brody, Joanie and Shanice.
Soap bosses have teased that "with the desperate killer having little to lose, he poses a danger to anyone who gets in his way".
Teasing the story, Joe Layton said: 'He isn't after revenge, this is about him wanting to get his family together and start a new life with them.
"The anger that we saw when he killed Craig has been replaced by desperation and love for his family, but that doesn't make him any less dangerous.
'Kit is potentially putting his life on the line once more in his attempts to stop Mick.'
After the new story was teased, many fans of the show are not looking forward to the story.
A post was made on the r/coronationstreet Reddit page sharing the spoiler for the new plot.
One fan said: "I just laughed when I found out about the prison break, it's such a soap staple. Hopefully, this is the end of both Mick and Lou's stints."
Meanwhile, another labelled it "so predictable".

Lucy Letby caught laughing at wedding while on bail for murdering babies
A childhood pal of Lucy Letby has revealed the serial baby killer went to her wedding while she was on police bail after she was granted 'special permission' to attend. Lucy Letby has been pictured laughing and dancing at a wedding while on police bail for murdering babies, her childhood friend revealed. In July 2018, Letby was first arrested on suspicion of murdering eight babies. It wasn't until November 2021, where she was officially charged before being found guilty across two trials of murdering seven babies and attempting to murder seven more, reports the Mirror. Dawn Howe, who went to Aylestone Secondary School in Hereford with Letby, brought out a stash of photos during a new ITV documentary called Lucy Letby: Beyond Reasonable Doubt? Some pictures showed Letby smiling and dancing at Dawn's wedding, which took place while Cheshire Police investigated whether the neonatal nurse at Countess of Chester Hospital was possibly Britain's most prolific child killer. Speaking on the documentary, Dawn said: "Definitely got some holiday snaps, birthdays, holidays I've forgotten we even had. The wedding photos are definitely my favourite.' Laughing, she added: 'There is Lucy at my wedding. I am just so glad she could be there because it was while she was on bail, she had to get special permission to be allowed to come from the police.' The shocking photo shows Letby, wearing a red top and grey skirt, beaming while others alongside her clap on the dance floor. Another image shows a just-married Dawn walking past Letby, who is throwing confetti in the air. Dawn and Lucy met as teenagers and reflecting on the wedding snaps, she said: 'Shortly after this she was held in custody so… I don't think Lucy has seen these.' Speaking about how she reacted when her friend was arrested before her big day, she said: 'I watched it all unfold every step of the way. I just couldn't believe it. It was beyond belief that this could be happening.' And later in the programme, Dawn features once again. She is seen driving to Letby's former school, where they spent most of their adolescence together. Out of their friendship group, she said Letby was the only one who had a clear career path, and during her A-levels, she was eager to one day 'be a nurse and deal with really poorly babies '. And speaking on camera, she said: 'We were here and then university and then a few years after university is when she is supposed to have gone off on this killing spree…' Dawn was working when Letby's guilty verdict was announced in August 2023 and she described being 'dumbfounded' when she heard the news. Her immediate thought was what happened next. She remembered thinking: 'She can't just spend the rest of her life in prison.' Letby lost two attempts last year to challenge her convictions at the Court of Appeals. Her legal team meanwhile, led by barrister Mark McDonald, also submitted evidence from a panel of international experts to the Criminal Cases Review Commission in April, in an attempt to have her convictions overturned. Dawn supported Letby throughout the trial and is continuing to do so now, but she said she felt guilt for being free while her friend was serving 15 whole-life sentences. She concluded: 'I am living a life Lucy should be living beside me in parallel. We should both be having families and we both bought our houses and we were looking forward to the next chapter of our lives and then all this happened. 'It is just… there is so much guilt that I am sort of living a life that Lucy should also be living.' Cheshire Police were contacted regarding claims made in this story but they chose not to comment. Kate Garraway admits ‘we're not allowed to' as she details ITV rules
Good Morning Britain's Kate Garraway was on hand to detail the latest headlines to ITV viewers alongside Ed Balls during Monday's show. Kate Garraway detailed some behind-the-scenes rules ITV stars have to adhere to during Monday's instalment of Good Morning Britain. On the programme, the ITV star, who recently recalled her experience with theft in London, was speaking to Louie Spence about his appearance on Celebrity SAS. Although the series kicked off over the weekend, Channel 4 viewers saw Louie decide to leave after one episode, as he detailed his reasons to Kate and her co-star Ed Balls. However, as the interview began to end, Louie couldn't help but ask Kate a question. He commented: "Kate, can I just say darling, why haven't you done a hair commercial?! Every morning, I watch you and think she's worth it." Kate instantly burst out laughing over Louie's remark before sharing the reason she's not been seen advertising hair products. She replied: "Can I tell you what, Louie, we're not allowed to. I work in news, and we are religiously, despite what people think, impartial. So we don't endorse anything." It seemed as though Louie wasn't satisfied with her response, so he took a moment to take a cheeky swipe at ITV. He said: "How dare they?! What's going on? They're cutting Lorraine, the Loose Women are being cut. What's going on? This place is going to wreck and ruin." Although both Ed and Kate ignored his reference to the ITV cuts, she added: "When they fire me, Louie, which is probably right now for talking too much, I'll go and do one!" Louie's comments come after it was announced earlier this year that ITV will be facing some major changes to its daytime programmes from 2026. Lorraine is having her show cut down to 30 minutes and will now air for 30 weeks annually, similar to Loose Women. During the weeks Lorraine is not on air, Good Morning Britain will broadcast until 10am. Kevin Lygo, managing director of ITV's media and entertainment division, commented on the adjustments, saying: "Daytime is a really important part of what we do, and these scheduling and production changes will enable us to continue to deliver a schedule providing viewers with the news, debate and discussion they love from the presenters they know and trust, as well as generating savings which will allow us to reinvest across the programme budget in other genres.
