Peacemaker season 2 reviews have begun to surface, but there are still three episodes that critics haven't seen, and the show's creator James Gunn says that's very much on purpose. Only Peacemaker episodes 1-5 have been screened for critics - a "select few," as Gunn tells entertainment journalist Brandon Davis - and he's keeping the last three hidden from prying eyes that might leak spoilers for the final three episodes of Peacemaker season 2.
"It could mean they're terrible," Gunn laughs in the video below. "That is one option. Or it could mean that there's a lot of major twists and turns in the last three episodes. And even though I'm sending the first five to a select few, things still get out as you know. Things got out already. You know, people who want to search can be spoiled on purpose, but I really don't want what's in those last three episodes to be spoiled. And so I'm keeping them close to the chest. I won't even let my publicist see them. That's the god's honest truth"
"I will also say, six and eight may be my favorite things I've done, like, of all time. It's like some of my favorite stuff ever," Gunn adds.
I'm one of those "select few" who has seen those first five Peacemaker season 2 episodes, and while I can't (and won't) reveal a single word of spoilers, the trailers have only scratched the surface of Gunn's latest entry in the DC Universe.
I definitely recommend going in as un-spoiled as possible, and frankly, I'm excited that there are still three episodes I can anticipate - especially since Gunn holds them in such high regard in his own catalogue of great superhero movies and shows.
Peacemaker season 2 premiers on HBO Max on August 21, 2025 as the next chapter in the DC Universe following Gunn's Superman. In the meantime, stay up to date on all the upcoming DC movies and shows that are in the works.

Noah Wyle Set to Direct ‘The Pitt' Season 2 Episode

In addition to writing, executive producing and leading 'The Pitt,' Noah Wyle will step behind the camera and direct the sixth episode of Season 2. 'We are just about finished with episode five. We start episode six on Tuesday,' Wyle said during a panel for the show on Saturday as part of the inaugural Televerse 2025 festival. 'I feel prepped, which is what you want to feel. This has been such an amazing experience for me, all the way down the line.' More from Variety Warner Bros. The panel also featured Katherine LaNasa (Dana Evans), Shawn Hatosy (Dr. Jack Abbot), Patrick Ball (Dr. Frank Langdon), Taylor Dearden (Dr. Mel King), Supriya Ganesh (Dr. Samira Mohan), Fiona Dourif (Dr. Cassie McKay), Isa Briones (Dr. Trinity Santos), Gerran Howell (Dennis Whitaker) and Shabana Azeez (Victoria Javadi). 'The Pitt' landed 13 Emmy nominations for its first season, with Wyle nominated both as a producer and in the lead actor category. As recently revealed to Variety, the current healthcare changes will be part of the upcoming season. 'Before we even start to write, we're conducting interviews with all sorts of people from every sector and vector of healthcare, and they tell us what they're up against. They tell us what they would love to see on TV, and they tell us what would really be counterproductive to what they're trying to do if we put on TV,' he said on the panel. 'We dictate our storylines from there; it starts with people that are in the field and asking them to see what they're seeing and how they're reacting to it. It's a little bit more difficult to see 10 months in the future than it was last year, because events are changing so quickly on the ground right now, you don't really know what the world's gonna look like in 12 months, but there are worst-case scenario models.' Dearden, whose character had a storyline around vaccinations in Season 1, added that 'it's insane' what's happening right now with people in charge making laws without medical professionals: 'It comes up because how could it not?' Charlie Cox Backpedals on Previous Quote About DAREDEVIL: BORN AGAIN Season 2 Being Its Last — GeekTyrant

Last week, Daredevil: Born Again actor Charlie Cox made a statement at Galaxy Con that had a lot of people talking. While describing the show's second season, he called it 'the final season,' and it came as a surprise to everyone. Since then, the actor's co-star, Vincent D'Onofrio, said the statement was a mistake, and it was a simple slip of the tongue. He said the reports were 'not true,' and added, 'there's a good chance we will have a third season.' Now, Cox is answering for himself, as this weekend at the For the Love of Fantasy event in London, England, ComicBook caught up with the actor and asked for some clarification. After offering Cox some well-deserved praise for his return as Matt Murdock in the MCU, he responded to questions following those reports about season 2 potentially being the end of the road for Daredevil: Born Again . When asked directly whether it is indeed the last one, the actor carefully responded, "No," pausing a second before adding, "I do not believe so." When it was pointed out that Marvel Studios needs to get him into a movie with Spider-Man, Cox agreed, saying, "Yeah, exactly, exactly." It was a passing interview, and didn't get too in-depth, but he seems to agree with everyone's sentiment about that very long-overdue team-up! Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 is set to premiere on Disney+ in March 2026.

James Gunn Teases the Future of John Cena's PEACEMAKER in the DCU — GeekTyrant

James Gunn's first phase of the DCU has always included John Cena's Peacemaker, but as we are still ahead of the character's second season in his series, we don't exactly know what the future holds for him. Season 2 of Peacemaker will debut this week, and run through the beginning of October, and Gunn has been very tight-lipped about what the final few episodes will entail. When asked by ExtraTV (via CBM) about the broader direction of the DCU, James Gunn teased that Season 2 of Peacemaker will provide plenty of answers. "I think you're going to find out a lot, this season of Peacemaker. This is a direct follow-up to Superman, although it should be said, it's not for kids, it's for adults. We kind of see where the DC Universe is going and we find out about where it's heading from here. By the end of the season, there's a lot of surprises." In a separate interview, Gunn previously teased that episodes 6-8 of the series contain huge surprises and that he intentionally left those episodes off of advance screener copies sent out to the media. As to whether Season 2 is the last season of Peacemaker , Gunn all but confirmed that Cena's antihero will be seen again in a fourth project. Whether that's a third season of the show or something else remains to be seen, saying, "We call it the Tighty-Whities Trilogy- between The Suicide Squad , Peacemaker Season 1, and Peacemaker Season 2. Are we going to make it a quadrilogy? Probably, we'll see..." "In Season 2, Peacemaker discovers an alternate world where life is everything he wishes it could be. But this discovery also forces him to face his traumatic past and take the future into his own hands." James Gunn wrote all 8 episodes and directed 3, including the premiere. The second season reunites John Cena with key members of the season 1 cast, including Danielle Brooks (Leota Adebayo), Freddie Stroma (Vigilante), Jennifer Holland (Emilia Harcourt), and Steve Agee (John Economos), as the series gears up for a major expansion within the new DC Universe. This time around, the story will branch out beyond Peacemaker's tight-knit team, with Frank Grillo stepping in as Rick Flag Sr., a character who serves as the connective tissue to Superman, Creature Commandos, and future DCU chapters. Several additional familiar faces from Superman are also set to appear, including Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner, and Sean Gunn reprising his role as the Justice Gang financier Maxwell Lord. Fans will also be introduced to a brand-new character, Red St. Wild, portrayed by Michael Rooker. Peacemaker episode one drops this week on August 21st on HBO/Max.
