Rebel Wilson feared she'd be 'permanently disfigured' after 'freak accident' on set
Rebel Wilson was almost "permanently disfigured" following a "freak accident" while filming Bride Hard.
The 45-year-old actress - who portrays a secret agent named Sam in the upcoming action comedy - was smacked in the face by a gun during her final night of filming, leaving her surrounded by a "pool of blood".
She told Access Hollywood: 'In a fight scene, a gun accidentally got whacked across my face.
'It was just a freak accident, and my nose got split open, so I left set. It was my last night of shooting. I was like, 'How unlucky can I be?''
Medics on set were quick to tend to her injury and Rebel - who has two-year-old daughter Royce with wife Ramona Agruma - was rushed off to hospital to have the wound treated and she is grateful she hasn't suffered permanent scarring.
She continued: 'I was freaking out. They take an ambulance and they have to call a plastic surgeon, because if they didn't, I would have been permanently disfigured. So we got the plastic surgeon, they did all the stitches, and you can't tell now.'
Anna Camp also stars in Bride Ways, and Rebel was delighted to reunite with her Pitch Perfect co-star because they have been "friends for 14 years".
She said: 'When I got this project and [saw] there was a girl's squad in it, I immediately thought of Anna to play in it.
"She's so versatile of an actress, she could've played any of the roles. But Anna gravitated towards the best friend role.'
The Bridesmaids star revealed she'd been injured at the time of filming Bride Hard back in August 2023.
Alongside a photo of her painful-looking injury, Rebel wrote on her Instagram Story: "NOT the way I wanted to end this movie! 3 stitches and in hospital last night after a stunt accident at 4am. (sic)"
Rebel later confirmed the wound was healing well as she thanked fans for their messages of support.
She said in a follow-up video: 'I just wanted to say thank you for all your well-wishes.
"I've actually been healing quite amazing. The stitches have dissolved out from my on-set accident last week.'

Rebel Wilson rushed to hospital after almost being left 'permanently disfigured' following freak accident on the set of new film Bride Hard
Rebel Wilson has spoken out about almost being left 'permanently disfigured' after her nose was split open in a freak accident on a new movie set. The Australian actress, 45, is set to star alongside Anna Camp in the upcoming action comedy film Bride Hard, which will hit cinemas on Friday. Bride Hard sees Rebel play a maid of honour who doubles as a world-class secret agent, putting her skills to the test when armed mercenaries crash the wedding ceremony and force her to take down the bad guys. In an interview with Access Hollywood on Friday, the Pitch Perfect star said all hell broke lose when a gun accidentally "whacked" her in the face and left her injured in a "pool of blood" on the final night of shooting. "It was just a freak accident, and my nose got split open," Rebel told the US entertainment news program. "So I left set, it was really my last night of shooting…' '...the last fight sequence, my nose gets busted open, it's a pool of blood, if anyone has had a facial injury, they know, there's so much blood.' Rebel said she was "freaking out" as production called an ambulance and a plastic surgeon to mend her broken nose. The star said she was thankful they called the first responder promptly because otherwise, she would have been left "permanently disfigured." "So we got the plastic surgeon, they did all the stitches, and you can't tell now, really, you can't tell," Rebel said. Recent photos of the Australian A-lister show no immediately noticeable difference in her nose compared to before the accident. The near-miss marks Rebel's first serious accident on the set of a film throughout her two decades working in the Hollywood film industry. She has recently embarked on a media blitz in the US ahead of the release of Bride Hard and has heavily promoted the film on Instagram. Rebel on Monday revealed her fashion designer wife, Ramona Agruma, made her screen debut with a cameo in the highly anticipated film. "She was actually offered, but she has no desire to be in the spotlight," the actress told Today. "But weirdly she has a cameo in Bride Hard because they needed somebody to speak Russian to play a Russian scientist." "And so Ramona's like, 'Yeah, all right.' She just stepped in. She's not an actress, but she just came in and crushed it."

Rebel Wilson suffered terrifying on-set accident that nearly left her ‘permanently disfigured'
When it comes to acting, Rebel Wilson goes all in. During a recent interview with Access Hollywood, Wilson detailed the moment her nose got 'split open' while filming her new movie, Bride Hard. 'In a fight scene, a gun accidentally got whacked across my face,' Wilson said. 'It was just a freak accident, and my nose got split open, so I left set. It was really my last night of shooting. I was like, 'How unlucky can I be?'' The incident occurred during 'the last fight sequence' on the schedule, and resulted in a 'pool of blood.' 'I was freaking out,' she added. 'They take an ambulance and they have to call a plastic surgeon, because if they didn't, I would have been permanently disfigured. So we got the plastic surgeon, they did all the stitches, and you can't tell now, really, you can't tell.' Wilson isn't the only celebrity who has opened up about a recent on-set mishap. Charlize Theron revealed that while filming her latest action-packed project, Apex (which she filmed in Australia), she sustained a painful injury after doing some of her own dangerous stunt work – without protective equipment. 'Our crew delivered a really impressive movie, and yours truly did some stunts and action – without a harness, sometimes,' Theron said at Netflix's 2025 upfront presentation earlier this week, according to Entertainment Weekly. 'Don't tell Netflix.' 'It's actually a miracle that I'm here today,' she noted. The Mad Max: Fury Road actress continued to detail the risks involved while she worked on her physically demanding role. 'Apex only wrapped like a week ago, so I'm fresh off the mountain. I still have some Australian dirt under this pretty manicure, and my cute boot is hiding a fractured toe … I can go on and on and on, but I won't.' Despite the physical toll, Theron, 49, remained in good spirits as she recovered. 'I can honestly say that shooting 'Apex' was one of the most incredible experiences of my life,' she added.
