Perfume fans praise £9 bottle that's 'just as good if not better than Sol de janeiro'

Edinburgh Live12-05-2025

With summer fast-approaching, fragrance fans are on the hunt for the perfect summer scent. And for those undecided on their signature spritz, affordable beauty retailer GiveMeCosmetics has released a body spray bundle containing four mists for £9 each.
Certain brands have earned a reputation for their 'summer in a bottle' sprays, achieving cult status among perfume buffs. Brands like Sol de Janeiro are revered by beauty lovers, but at £38 for 240ml, they're not the most affordable.
By comparison, shoppers can get four GiveMeCosmetics sprays for £36, containing four scents that share similarities to much more expensive options on the market. That means customers get 800ml of fragrance for £2 cheaper than one bottle of Sol de Janeiro.
By far the most popular mist, having racked up more than 700 reviews, is Caramel Vacay, which draws some similarities to Sol de Janeiro's cult classic Cheirosa 62. The bottle boasts subtle notes of pistachio, sweet almond, heliotrope and jasmine - alongside the expected vanilla and salted caramel. Superdrug also sells an £11.99 Mar E Sol Salted Caramel & Pistachio Body Mist, which features 250ml.
Likened to Cheirosa 59, Orchid Dreams stars warm violet and vanilla orchid notes. While Sunset Serenity blends together caramel and luscious fruits for something reminiscent of Cheirosa 87.

The final scent in the set, Botanical Breeze, doesn't seem to compare to any of Sol de Janeiro's scents. Instead it shares similar notes to Victoria's Secret Fresh Jade with apple, coconut, lemon and orange notes, however, the VS mist doesn't seem to be available to buy in the UK yet.
So far there are only three reviews for the spray bundle but they're all perfect five stars. One shopper said: "They products are great , smells lovely and fast delivery will definitely buy again."
A second penned: "Love them all they all smell so fresh." A third added: "Amazing smells and the spay lasts. I like all the fragrances to suit my moods. The sprays are so light they glide into the skin."
However it is worth noting that Caramel Vacay, which shares a number of notes with cult classic Sol De Janeiro's Cheirosa 62, has an average rating of 5 of out 714 reviews. One shopper said: "This is just as good if not better than Sol de janeiro and smells delicious and lasts longer."
A second penned: "Absolutely love this body spray! Smells gorgeous and doesn't leave any sort of sticky feeling like some others do! Cannot fault any products I have purchased from this website so far! Skincare, hair care is all amazing! Also the body cream is great too, it's smooth and like the spray has no stickiness feeling, also smells just as good as the body spray!"
The £36 body spray bundle, which contains 800ml of fragrance, is now available on GiveMeCosmetics. Sol de Janeiro are currently selling a £38 body mist set on LookFantastic but it contains only 120ml of perfume.

Princess Andre, 17, fires back at critics after buying £10,000 car for herself

Katie Price and Peter Andre's daughter has been forced to respond to critics who claimed she didn't pay for her new £10,000 car herself. Princess Andre, 17 – full name Princess Tiaamii Crystal Esther Andre – proudly revealed her white Audi A1 after recently passing her driving test. The sleek, new vehicle came with a personalised number plate reading 'Princess', which instantly caught fans' attention online. While many followers flooded the comments with congratulatory messages, some accused her of not buying the car with her own money. One Instagram user said: 'Let's just say Mummy and Daddy bought your new car.' Another IG user commented: 'Who bought your new car ??? Bet your dad did.' Unfazed by the backlash, Princess responded by firmly stating that she paid for the car herself, writing: 'These comments are so funny. To everyone out there, yes I work and yes I earn my own money which I'm super proud of and so thankful that I am lucky enough to buy my own car xx.' She's previously shared her ambition of becoming a millionaire before she turns 20 – and she's clearly on track. The young influencer already has brand deals with major names like Superdrug and PrettyLittleThing and is also launching her own jewellery line. Princess is also expected to star in an upcoming reality TV show focused on her modelling journey, family dynamics, and growing career in the public eye. Her new ITV show will follow Princess as she finds her feet at the milestone age of 18, while becoming a celebrity in her own right. Despite her mother's reality TV background, it has been revealed that 46-year-old Katie will not appear in the new show. However, it has been confirmed that her famous father, Peter, 52, and his wife Emily will make an appearance alongside Princess' brother Junior Andre. Despite the excitement, some fans expressed concern that the flashy personalised plate could attract unwanted attention, urging her to stay cautious. Her mum, Katie – no stranger to controversy behind the wheel – commented on the post with a mix of pride and worry: 'So proud and so scared at the same time. My baby girl turns 18 next month too so lots of exciting things we will be doing together.' Princess's dad, Peter, also spoke out about her achievement in his column, revealing she had kept him guessing throughout the process. 'She kept telling me she failed four times,' Peter wrote. 'But you know what they say – or maybe don't say! – The fifth time's a charm.' He added that he believes the delays actually worked in her favour and has made her a safer and more confident driver. More Trending 'As I said to her, it's actually better that it's taken a while for her to pass because at least she knows now that she genuinely deserves to pass and she can feel confident on the roads,' he explained. Peter also praised her driving skills, saying: 'I went in the car with her the other day and she was actually really good.' Though he once gifted a £25,000 car to her older brother Junior when he passed his test, Princess has made it clear she wants to pave her own way. She's made it clear on social media that she is determined to earn her success, steering away from leaning on her famous parents for handouts. Got a story?
