Report: BYU's Egor Demin will declare for the NBA draft
Egor Demin has reportedly made up his mind.
BYU's star point guard will forego his remaining college eligibility and declare for the NBA draft, according to a Tuesday report from Jonathan Givony of ESPN.
Demin will officially announce his decision at a press conference at 10 a.m. MDT Tuesday in Provo before appearing on 'BYU Sports Nation.'

As a freshman, Demin started in 33 games for BYU and averaged 10.6 points, 3.9 rebounds and 5.5 assists to earn All-Big 12 Honorable Mention status.
He did struggle at times with turnovers and shooting inconsistency this past season, but when Demin flashed, he clearly looked the part as one of college basketball's top talents.
Such was the case in the NCAA Tournament, where Demin played some of his best basketball of the year when the lights were brightest. He scored 13.7 points per game in the NCAA tourney along with 17 total assists against six turnovers as the Cougars reached the Sweet 16 for the first time since 2011.
The Russian star is a projected first-round selection in this summer's NBA draft, with The Ringer ranking him as the No. 15 overall prospect in the current class.
'Demin is the Three-Eyed Raven of this draft — he sees everything at all times,' wrote J. Kyle Mann of The Ringer. 'He is the most talented all-around passer in the draft, spotting cutters and weakside looks from 3 that others simply do not. He makes simple reads within the flow of the offense, whether he's playing off the catch and attacking a closeout or catching the ball in the middle of the floor, but most importantly, he's gifted at using his outside-the-box thinking to pry open passing windows.

'With a live dribble, he excels at using his terrific size to sling pinpointed darts with overhand touch. And, crucially, he passes a shootable ball — they're typically on time and on target, with the right amount of ball deceleration so that the recipient can flow into their motion.'
With Demin's departure — along with Dallin Hall's intention to transfer — Kevin Young and his staff will search for a new starting point guard out of the transfer portal to play alongside consensus No. 1 recruit AJ Dybantsa this coming season.

Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports has released an updated batch of preseason rankings for the 2025-26 college basketball season, and the Spartans remain listed just outside the top 20. Rothstein has the Spartans at No. 21 in his updated version of the rankings that were released on Tuesday. Among Big Ten teams, the Spartans rank No. 5 in Rothstein's list but there is a notable drop off after the top three. He has Purdue (No. 1), Michigan (No. 5) and UCLA (No. 7) all in the top 10, and then next from the Big Ten is Oregon (No. 20) one spot before the Spartans. Michigan State is the reigning Big Ten champs and went the furthest of any team from the league in the NCAA Tournament by reaching the Elite Eight this past season. However, the Spartans have lost a number of key pieces off that highly-successful team, including leading scorers Jase Richardson and Jaden Akins -- so many like Rothstein anticipate a step back from the Spartans next season. As I've said during most of this offseason, I feel like anywhere from No. 15 to No. 25 is about right for the Spartans in next year's preseason poll. I would be quite surprised if they were any higher than No. 15 and shocked if they were unranked when the official preseason polls drop in a few months. The durable first baseman has played in 372 straight, a team record. The Diamondbacks and Padres are the lone major league teams who haven't had a player hit more than 252 homers for them. When Bleacher Report recently unveiled its list of the top 100 players in NBA history, fans across the basketball world were stunned by what many viewed as blatant disrespect towards Kobe Bryant. While the majority of fans consider Kobe to be a better all-around player, a bigger inspiration, a more idolized figure and a more accomplished legend than Steph, Gilbert Arenas wasn't surprised by the ranking.
