Ice Universe reveals Galaxy S26 Edge thickness, changes mind on battery capacity

The Samsung Galaxy S26 Edge will address one of the major complaints about the S25 Edge – the small 3,900mAh battery capacity – while pursuing the goal of ever-thinner designs. Ice Universe has shared several bits of information on the topic and now reports on the expected battery capacity and thickness of the 2026 model.
'Galaxy S26 Edge 5.5mm 4200mAh', simply writes The Cat. That is 0.3mm thinner than the current Edge with 300mAh more in the tank.
However, a few days ago Ice reported that the S26 Edge will have a 4,400mAh battery instead. What's going on? This might be the difference between 'rated' and 'typical' capacity. If you watch this S25 Edge teardown video, you will see the markings on its battery: 3,786mAh rated capacity and 3,900mAh typical capacity. Galaxy S25 Edge's battery from JerryRigEverything's teardown video
That's a difference of 114mAh, so 200mAh between the rated and typical capacity of the new model wouldn't be too unusual. Or maybe these are just conflicting reports because Samsung is still trying to dial in the final design – remember, the Galaxy S26 series is not due for five months at least.
Based on a previous report, the Samsung Galaxy S26 Pro, the new small model that will replace the vanilla S phone, will have a 4,300mAh battery (typical capacity). That's a 300mAh bump over the S25 and in line with the rumored 3,900mAh to 4,200mAh upgrade for the S26 Edge.
The leakster has mentioned a 'new battery material technology' for the upcoming Edge, though it's not clear whether that is silicon-carbon or not. Some reports indicate that Samsung would instead try to increase the volume available to the battery and increase capacity that way.
Again, the S26 generation is half a year away from being available in stores, so we will have to wait for more detailed leaks. In the meantime, Apple is also working on a slim phone, the iPhone 17 Air, which is expected to measure 5.5mm thick. Photos of its battery recently leaked – that thing is rather tiny.

Poco M7 Pro 5G review

The Redmi Note 14 models must be the most popular choice in the mid-range for their thoughtful segmentation and attractive pricing. And a while ago, Poco also launched its own interpretation of one particular Redmi - the Note 14 5G. Meet the Poco M7 Pro 5G. The Poco M7 Pro 5G is essentially identical to the Redmi Note 14 5G except for the design and the rear camera setup. Poco has always been keen on eye-catchy designs and the dual tone back panel on the back of the M7 Pro 5G is quite nice. You can get it in Lavender Frost, Lunar Dust, Olive Twilight, and there is a limited Classic Black version in some markets. The Poco is IP64-rated for dust and splash resistance. The Poco M7 Pro 5G has a 6.67-inch AMOLED with 1080p resolution, 120Hz refresh rate, and support for HDR10+ streaming. It is protected by Gorilla Glass 5. The phone runs on the Dimensity 7025 5G chip that packs decent processor power but has a rather basic GPU. The starter version of the Poco M7 Pro 5G has 6GB RAM and 128GB storage. The only technical differences between this Poco and its Redmi counterpart are in the camera department. The Poco has a 50MP primary with OIS, a 2MP depth sensor, and a 20MP selfie imager. The Redmi had a 108MP main camera and an additional 8MP ultrawide shooter, which is now gone. The M7 Pro is powered by a 5,110mAh with 45W fast charging. It boots Android 14 with HyperOS 1. We would have liked to see it boot Android 15 or at least get a more powerful GPU, though. Unboxing the Poco M7 Pro 5G The Poco M7 Pro has a well-stacked retail bundle. It ships together with a 45W charger, a USB cable, and a dark gray protective case. The Poco also comes with a thin protective film already atop its screen. The bundle varies by market, though, and the EU box does not contain a charger. Page 2

iPhone 17 Air makes the Galaxy S25 Edge look like a normal, boring phone, but is it actually any good?

The race for the slimmest flagship smartphone is now on, and it seems like Apple will be taking the lead with the iPhone 17 Air, at least when it comes to thickness. A physical comparison between the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge and a dummy unit of the iPhone 17 Air shows a clear winner: Apple's phone is much slimmer. Of course, the iPhone 17 Air will come with its own problems, the biggest one being its battery capacity. It is all but confirmed that the Air will have a battery capacity of a measly 2,900 mAh, which pales in comparison to the 3,900 mAh found on the Galaxy S25 Edge . Apple is reportedly hoping for the AI-powered battery management on iOS 26 to do the heavy lifting here, and make the iPhone 17 Air last a reasonable amount of time. Meanwhile, our Galaxy S25 Edge battery test showed that Samsung's phone lasted way longer than expected. With the Galaxy S26 Edge reportedly getting a 4,300 mAh battery early next year, a phone just as slim and with a much larger battery will be available not long after the release of the iPhone 17 Air .But these phones aren't really being marketed to power users: we've got the thicker iPhone 17 Pro Max with its bigger battery for that purpose. No, these phones are for people who prefer form over function, and the iPhone 17 Air beats the Galaxy S25 Edge quite handily in that respect. The iPhone 17 Air is much slimmer than the Galaxy S25 Edge . | Image credit — Cid If you want the slimmest modern flagship phone that you can get your hands on this year, then the iPhone 17 Air is the device for you. While the Galaxy S25 Edge is 5.8 mm thick, the iPhone 17 Air is expected to be 5.5 mm instead, which is what the dummy units are modeled after. But is the iPhone 17 Air actually worth getting this year? Unless you're strictly an iPhone user, I'd say not really. According to reports, next year's Galaxy S26 Edge will be 5.5 mm thick as well, so just as thin as the Air but with a much larger battery. If I was choosing between the two, I'd honestly wait for Samsung's phone. However, that is a trap some consumers fall into: always waiting for the next best thing. Yes, the iPhone 17 Air makes the S25 Edge look pretty thick — despite such a marginal difference — and if you don't want to wait for it, I'd say have at it.
