Juventus announces contract renewal for Croatian coach Igor Tudor

Rome – Saba: Italian club Juventus officially announced on Friday the renewal of the contract of its Croatian football coach, Igor Tudor, for two seasons until June 2027, with the option to extend for an additional season. The club wrote on its website: "Enthusiasm, charisma, youth: three simple words that accurately describe what Igor Tudor has been, from the end of March until today, since becoming coach of Juventus, and remind us of what the Croatian coach will continue to be in the future," according to Anadolu Agency. The club said: "As of today, his contract renewal is official. Tudor is tied to our club until June 30, 2027, with an option for 2028. In the coming seasons, he will lead the men's first team, starting with the first official tournament held in the United States, the Club World Cup." The 47-year-old Croatian coach took over at Juventus last March, following the dismissal of Thiago Motta. He led the club to a fourth-place finish in Serie A last season with 70 points. Manchester City Coach: What's happening in Gaza very painful, world watching silently

London - Saba: Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola was awarded an honorary doctorate from the University of Manchester during an official ceremony held Monday, in recognition of his contributions to the city since taking over as manager in 2016. In a moving speech at the ceremony, Guardiola expressed his deep sorrow over the tragedies taking place in the world, highlighting the suffering of innocent people in war zones, especially in Gaza, saying: "What's happening there is very painful. Thousands of innocent victims, children are killed, families are displaced, and people are watching in silence." He continued: "What we're seeing in Gaza is very painful. It hurts my body. We're seeing the deaths of thousands of innocent people and children, and the suffering of thousands of families due to the violence." He added: "My message isn't about ideology, but about the love of life and humanity... Some may think that what's happening is none of our business, but I say to them: The next victim could be you or your child." Guardiola spoke specifically about Gaza, saying, "When the blockade on Gaza began, I saw many pictures and videos, and I was terrified, while some said, 'We live far away from them. What can we do?'" Guardiola likened his situation to that of a small bird trying to put out a huge forest fire by sprinkling water. Despite the ridicule of others, he insisted, "I am doing my part." The Spanish coach emphasized that the strength of the world lies in not remaining silent and in having principles in the face of injustice and violence. For its part, Manchester City announced its pride in awarding its coach this degree, in recognition of his contributions on and off the field, having led the team to six English Premier League titles, the Champions League, the European Super Cup, and the Club World Cup. Manchester City is currently preparing to participate in the Club World Cup alongside major teams such as Real Madrid, Red Bull Salzburg, and Pachuca, in Group H. Whatsapp Telegram Email Print

Spalletti announces departure as Italy coach after Tomorrow's Moldova match

Rome – Saba: Luciano Spalletti confirmed on Sunday that he will step down as Italy coach after the match against Moldova in the fourth round of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers on Monday. The Italian national team coach revealed that he had already been informed that he would be dismissed, but decided to terminate his contract after the Moldova match tomorrow, Monday, following Italy's humiliating 3-0 away defeat to Norway last Friday. Although the loss came at the start of the team's Group 9 campaign, it complicated Italy's chances of qualifying early, leaving them nine points behind leaders Norway, according to Anadolu Agency. During the press conference he held before the Moldova match, Spalletti said: "Gravina (the president of the Italian Football Federation) informed me that I will be relieved of my duties after the match, and we will terminate my contract." He continued, "I was sorry. Given our relationship, I had no intention of giving up, but I take responsibility. I will win and convince myself on Monday to help my successor." Spalletti added, "I would have preferred to stay and do my job, especially when things aren't going well. However, if this is an apology, I have to accept it. I have always considered this role a service to the homeland, and I want to contribute to building the future of the national team." He continued, "I think it's right to look for the best, and I will finish my contract. I will be present tomorrow against Moldova. I have always maintained that my players are strong, and the results under my management are what they are, and I have to take responsibility." Luciano Spalletti, 66, took over as coach of the Italian national team in September 2023, succeeding Roberto Mancini, on a contract until 2026. Under Spalletti, Italy played a total of 23 matches, winning 11, drawing six, and losing six. The Italian national team missed the last two World Cups, in Russia 2018 and Qatar 2022.
