Clint Escamis is CPC Basketball Player of the Year; Carl Berdal, Zam Nolasco take top volleyball honors for NCAA
Escamis, the Season 99 Most Valuable Player, led the Cardinals to its first title since 1991 in NCAA Season 100.
By the end of the elimination round, Escamis had averages of 15.44 points, 3.61 rebounds, 4.0 assists, and 1.89 steals per game and was among the league's leaders in scoring, total assists, and steals in the past season.
In the finals where the Cardinals swept De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde, Escamis posted averages of 24.5 points, 4.0 assists and 4.0 steals to be named as Finals MVP.
Carl Berdal of Arellano University and Benilde's Zam Nolasco, meanwhile, were named as the Collegiate Press Corps NCAA Men's and Women's Volleyball Players of the Year, respectively.
Berdal was named the Finals MVP of the Season 100 men's volleyball tournament as he led the Chiefs to its first title in men's volleyball.
The Arellano veteran was among the league's top scorers at 11th place with a total of 255 points, a leader in spiking with 44.19% success rate, and second overall in receiving with an efficiency rate of 56.84%.
Nolasco, on the other hand, was crucial in the Lady Blazers' campaign to reach their fourth straight title.
The third year middle blocker was 12th overall in scoring with 211 points, and number one in blocking with 0.73 average by set, which earned her a spot in the league's Best Middle Blockers this season. In Game 1 of the finals, Nolasco paced Benilde with 21 points, eight from blocks, as the Lady Blazers eventually won the title.
UAAP back-to-back MVP Kacey Dela Rosa of Ateneo de Manila University, meanwhile, was named as the Collegiate Press Corps Women's Basketball Player of the Year, while Bella Belen and Leo Aringo of National University were the top players in UAAP volleyball.

Mapua shares pride in Cardinals' stand in World University Games
Mapua University shared its pride in representing the Philippines in the global stage. The Cardinals finished 14th overall in the World University Games held in Rhine-Ruhr, Germany last July 16 to 27. "The Mapúa Cardinals is incredibly proud to have represented the Philippines in the recent FISU World University Games 2025 last July 16-27, 2025 in Rhine-Ruhr, Germany. With over 8,000 student-athletes from over 100 countries representing various sports, our very own basketball team successfully bagged a win over Chile in a sweet 77-69 victory," the University said in its post. "This participation, which was also recognized by the Federation of School Sports Association of the Philippines (FESSAP), also serves as a strategic move for the team to foster camaraderie as they march into the upcoming NCAA Season 101." In the tournament, the Cardinals ended the group phase winless against Brazil, Czech Republic, and Poland. The NCAA defending champions also fell short against Lebanon, 73-67, in the quarterfinals. In the classification round, however, the Intramuros-based squad defeated Chile, 77-69, before falling to Argentina, 84-71. JM Bravo forgoes final year with LPU, looks to turn pro
JM Bravo is officially moving on from collegiate basketball, opting to skip his final year with Lyceum of the Philippines University as he looks to take the leap into the professional ranks. The 6-foot-3 forward bared his decision to GMA News Online on Tuesday, saying it is a decision he is making for his family. He ends a four-year stint with the Pirates that saw him help the squad reach the Final Four round for three consecutive years. "Maraming salamat Lyceum of the Philippines University Manila sa 4 na taon sa pag tulong at supporta lalo na mga LPU Community, Coaches and Teammates," Bravo said in an Instagram post. "And Buong pasalamat ko sa mga Boss Laurel Family and Lopez Family. Hanggang sa Muli!" Bravo's final season with the Pirates in NCAA Season 100 was marked by personal challenges. Early in the season, he was initially ruled out for the remainder of the tournament due to the spinal injury he sustained in their 95-93 loss to San Sebastian College-Recoletos last September 11. Bravo then had an unexpected comeback early in the second round to provide some veteran presence alongside John Barba, Mclaude Guadaña, Gyle Montaño, and Greg Cunanan, rejoining the squad exactly a month after. ?After two games, however, he collapsed on the floor late in their 91-86 loss to Arellano University on October 19 at the FilOil EcoOil Centre, but Bravo braved through it as well and was still able to finish the season as LPU bowed to eventual champion Mapua University in the Final Four. —JMB, GMA Integrated News ?

Mapua Cardinals among PH reps in World University Games
The Mapua University men's basketball team is among the delegates of the Philippines to the World University Games in Rhine-Ruhr, Germany. The Cardinals will start their campaign on July 19 against Brazil, Czech Republic on the 20th, and Poland on the 21st. The Intramuros-based crew is the reigning NCAA champion in men's basketball.
