JM Bravo forgoes final year with LPU, looks to turn pro
The 6-foot-3 forward bared his decision to GMA News Online on Tuesday, saying it is a decision he is making for his family.
He ends a four-year stint with the Pirates that saw him help the squad reach the Final Four round for three consecutive years.
"Maraming salamat Lyceum of the Philippines University Manila sa 4 na taon sa pag tulong at supporta lalo na mga LPU Community, Coaches and Teammates," Bravo said in an Instagram post.
"And Buong pasalamat ko sa mga Boss Laurel Family and Lopez Family. Hanggang sa Muli!"
Bravo's final season with the Pirates in NCAA Season 100 was marked by personal challenges.
Early in the season, he was initially ruled out for the remainder of the tournament due to the spinal injury he sustained in their 95-93 loss to San Sebastian College-Recoletos last September 11.
Bravo then had an unexpected comeback early in the second round to provide some veteran presence alongside John Barba, Mclaude Guadaña, Gyle Montaño, and Greg Cunanan, rejoining the squad exactly a month after.
?After two games, however, he collapsed on the floor late in their 91-86 loss to Arellano University on October 19 at the FilOil EcoOil Centre, but Bravo braved through it as well and was still able to finish the season as LPU bowed to eventual champion Mapua University in the Final Four.

PLDT High Speed Hitters rescued after getting stranded at QC training
The PLDT High Speed Hitters are now safe after being rescued from their training facility along Araneta Avenue in Quezon City, which was flooded on Monday due to heavy rains brought by the Southwest Monsoon or Habagat. In a post, PLDT shared that the Philippine Coast Guard and Philippine Army assisted in rescuing the players such as Majoy Baron, Kim Fajardo, Kath Arado, and Jovyy Prado among others. "Maraming salamat po to our Philippine Coast Guard and Philippine Army and our volley friends who assisted in rescuing our High Speed Hitters out of the Araneta Avenue area," PLDT said. "Alam po namin na mahaba pa ang gabi niyo at marami pa kayong matutulungan. We can only hope and pray na ligtas din po kayong makakauwi sa inyong mga tahanan. Muli, maraming, maraming salamat!" Again, thank you very very much!] In a separate video, veteran middle blocker Mika Reyes shared that the team had been stranded at the training venue for several hours before rescuers arrived with lifeboats, braving the flood to bring them to safety. "Stranded for hours, but rescuers still came sumugod sa baha at walang pagod tumulong. I can only imagine what others went through in even more unstable places," Reyes said in an Instagram reel. "Sana lahat ng nangangailangan, naabot ng tulog. Forever grateful to those who checked in, brought food and most of all to Philippine Army S&R and Raha Rescue." Andrew Estrella is new Letran Squires head coach
NCAA Andrew Estrella is the new head coach of the Colegio de San Juan Letran Squires. Estrella will replace Willie Miller who steered the Squires to a Final Four run in NCAA Season 100. Estrella handled the UE Junior Warriors U16 team in the past two seasons and delivered the title in UAAP U16 boys basketball last December. "I'm incredibly thankful to Letran and Strong Group Athletics for this chance to lead the Squires," Estrella said in a statement. "Thank you to Fr. Raymond [Jose, OP], Fr. Vic, Boss Frank, and Boss Jacob for believing in me. I'll give my best and make sure not to let anyone down." Despite his new responsibility as a head coach, Estrella will still be serving in the University of the East. "I may have a new home with Letran, but there are no goodbyes," he said. "I'll still be consulting for UE. UE helped shape who I am as a coach, and I'll always be grateful for that."
