Vir Das's brand-new special, Vir Das: Fool Volume, is filmed across Mumbai, New Delhi and London. With his signature cocktail of wit, wisdom, and total nonsense, he's here to remind us: in a world that takes itself too seriously, maybe being the fool is the smartest move. Reflecting on the journey behind his most personal special yet, Vir shares, 'This is a show rewritten in silence and performed without rehearsal across the world. Directed by Pawo Choyning Dorji, The Monk and the Gun is a playful ensemble drama that explores the clash between embracing modernity while holding on to the past. Set in 2006, as the Kingdom of Bhutan was at the brink of transition to democracy, the film premiered at the 2023 Toronto International Film Festival. In the town of Ura, an old lama orders a monk to get a gun to face the imminent change in the kingdom. Meanwhile, an American collector is in search of a valuable gun that falls in the lama's hands,' reads its synopsis on MUBI. Dorji earlier directed the 2019 Academy Award-nominated Lunana: A Yak in the Classroom.
Untamed
Netflix
This limited series is a character-driven mystery thriller that follows Kyle Turner (Eric Bana), a special agent in an elite branch of the National Parks Service who works to enforce human law in nature's vast wilderness. The investigation of a brutal death sends Turner on a collision course with the dark secrets within the park, and in his own past. Created by Mark L. Smith (American Primeval, The Revenant) and Elle Smith (The Marsh King's Daughter), the mystery thriller follows a murder on the grounds of Yosemite. 'Everyone thinks of Yosemite as this beautiful place with all the vistas and all the scenery, but we were trying to touch on the dangers that are just beyond that,' co-showrunner Mark L. Smith tells Tudum.

It's the end of the junior year of college, and Belly (Lola Tung) is looking forward to another summer in Cousins with her soulmate, Jeremiah (Gavin Casalegno). Renuka Shahane "Heartbroken" Over Reports Of Chakda Xpress Being Shelved, Says Anushka Was "Really Good" as Jhulan

Days after reports of Anushka Sharma-starrer Chakda Xpress being shelved started doing the rounds on social media, actor Renuka Shahane has responded to the development with shock. The actor-filmmaker, who played a retired sportsperson in Chakda Xpress, told NDTV, "I didn't know. I am very shocked". View this post on Instagram A post shared by AnushkaSharma1588 (@anushkasharma) Directed by Prosit Roy, Chakda Xpress is inspired by the life of former Indian women's cricket captain Jhulan Goswami. It was a Netflix movie and produced by Anushka Sharma's brother Karnesh Ssharma's Clean Slate Filmz. Renuka Shahane, who shot for the film in 2022, said she was sad about the reported development, calling Chakda Xpress a "beautiful, impactful" film made with "a very big heart". "I am totally heartbroken. Basically, because I think everyone has put in so much effort. Anushka has also worked on herself so much for it. And whatever scenes I did were so powerful and so impactful, especially for women in sports. "Jhulan Goswami is iconic and coming from a very poor house and making it big and yet the kind of discrepancy that still exists between men's cricket and women's cricket and all other sports, I would say. Chakda Xpress had that core quality of sportsmanship," Renuka Shahane told NDTV. View this post on Instagram A post shared by AnushkaSharma1588 (@anushkasharma) Speaking about Anushka Sharma's performance as legendary Indian cricketer Jhulan Goswami, Renuka Shahane said, "She's really done such a good job of creating that character, and it's so difficult to do because when icons are there in front of us and you have to perform as them it is even more challenging." She revealed that most of her scenes were with Anushka Sharma, and while dubbing, she got to watch parts of the film. "It's shot well, it's really well made. I was so looking forward to it. I wish there was some way such a beautiful film could be salvaged." The actor also praised Prosit Roy, calling him "such a fine director", and said she was proud of being part of a project that spotlighted the untold struggles and passion of women athletes. "You can never take the field off the sportsperson," she said of her own role and its emotional depth. Shot in 2022 and reportedly completed in 2023, Chakda Xpress was meant to be a powerful tribute to the life and career of Jhulan Goswami. But with the film now shelved indefinitely, those who worked on it like Renuka and Dibyendu Bhattacharya are left only with the memories of what could have been. The makers of the film are yet to officially confirm the status of the film.

'I dont think acting is for me': Kayoze Irani on his return to big screens, direction, Sarzameen experience

New Delhi [India], July 29 (ANI): Kayoze Irani, who is popularly known for his role of Kaizad Sudo Sodabottleopenerwala in the superhit film 'Student of the Year', admitted that "acting" is not made for him. After a brief stint as an actor in the Bollywood industry, Kayoze switched to filmmaking with the anthology series 'Ajeeb Daastaans' on Netflix in 2021. He directed the segment titled 'Ankahi', which starred Shefali Shah in the lead role. After gaining experience in filmmaking by serving as an assistant director in Kartik Aaryan's 'Dhamaka', Kayoze decided to put his directorial skills to the test with the recently released movie 'Sarzameen'. It stars Kajol, Prithviraj Sukumaran and Ibrahim Ali Khan in the lead roles. It is jointly produced by Karan Johar, Hiroo Yash Johar, Apoorva Mehta and Adar Poonawalla under the banner of Dharma Productions. While Kayoze is quite busy with his directorial projects, many fans wonder about his return to acting after his show-stealing debut performance in 'Student of the Year'. While talking to ANI, Kayoze admitted that he has no plans of returning to acting, disappointing his fans who were long waiting for his return. Kayoze said that he is more "comfortable" behind the camera and acting is not made for him. "I don't think you can see me acting again, because I enjoy filmmaking and it's what I have always wanted to do. I am comfortable behind the camera, and that is my intention. So sorry to disappoint, but I don't think acting is for me," said Kayoze Irani. Apart from his role in Karan Johar's 'Student of the Year', Kayoze has also starred in films including 'Youngistaan' and 'The Legend of Michael Mishra'. Kayoze Irani also shared his experience of working with stars, including Kajol and Prithiviraj Sukumaran in his debut movie directorial 'Sarzameen'. He called it a "humbling experience", saying that he never felt like a debutant among the two veterans. "As a debut director, the two of them (Prithviraj and Kajol) never let me feel that I am a debut director because they are both veterans. So when they were with me on set, they would always give me that respect. They would always take my opinion. Always listen and make me feel like I am part of them. I could stand with them and talk to them. So it is a genuinely humbling experience," said Kayoze Irani. Kayoze's latest directorial, 'Sarzameen', is currently streaming on Disney Hotstar. (ANI)
