Double Decker to operate up to Delhi Cantt from today to July 28

"Earlier, it had been announced to cancel the Double Decker from both sides, Jaipur to Delhi and Delhi to Jaipur. Now, the train will continue its operations from Jaipur to Delhi Cantt. It will not go up to Delhi Sarai Rohilla till July 28," said Captain Shashi Kiran, Chief Public Relations Officer, NWR.
NWR announced that around 40 Delhi-bound trains from various parts of Rajasthan, including Jaipur, Jodhpur, and Bikaner, will remain cancelled between July 21 to July 28. Since then, passengers had been resenting it as these cancellations also included the Double Decker train.
"The railways will now operate the train up to Delhi Cantt, which is good news," said a passenger.

Gurugram: The Bandikui-Jaipur Expressway — part of the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway — has been opened to the public, significantly slashing travel time between Delhi-NCR and Jaipur in Rajasthan. The 66.91-kilometre-long Bandikui-Jaipur Expressway was constructed at a cost of ₹ 1,368 crore. For Amit Yadav, a Gurugram-based IT consultant, it took three-and-a-half hours to reach Jaipur instead of the usual five to five-and-a-half hours using the Bandikui-Jaipur Expressway. 'Last weekend, we drove down to my in-laws' house in Jaipur. We took the new route and the entire journey was incredibly smooth—no heavy vehicles, no city traffic, no bottlenecks. We left at 7 am and reached our destination before 10:30 am,' Yadav said. Similarly, Pallavi Mehra, a Delhi-based marketing executive, took the new route to visit her parents in Jaipur. 'I had heard that the route was partially open, but I didn't know it is fully operational now. Last Saturday we took the new route, and it felt like a completely different experience. The old NH-48 was full of traffic and diversions, but this new expressway felt like an airport runway,' Mehra, who visits her parents in Jaipur every fortnight, said. It was fully opened to the public after all safety checks and road signage were completed,' a senior NHAI official, requesting anonymity, said. The 66.91-kilometre-long Bandikui-Jaipur Expressway was constructed at a cost of ₹1,368 crore. Trichy airport sees record 76k domestic flyers in June
1 2 3 TRICHY: Trichy International Airport recorded its highest-ever domestic passenger traffic in June, handling 76,035 passengers — a 64% increase over the same month last year, according to data from the Airports Authority of India (AAI). Though only one new domestic destination was introduced and 22 weekly services added, Trichy recorded the highest rise in domestic traffic among 33 international airports in the country. Integration of flight services in both incoming and outgoing traffic is one of the main reasons for the surge in domestic passengers. In June 2024, the airport handled 46,375 domestic passengers through 80 weekly flights to four cities. By June 2025, this rose to 76,035 passengers via 102 weekly flights to five destinations. Although the number of weekly flights grew by just 27%, passenger numbers jumped 64%. Traditionally seen as an international hub, Trichy airport is increasingly being used by passengers to access other international gateways such as Kochi, Hyderabad, and Mumbai, especially for Gulf-bound travel. We'll also push Indigo to expand its offerings from Trichy,' said MP and airport advisory committee chairman Durai Vaiko. 'Airlines will be suggested to move ATR flights to smaller airports and introduce narrowbody flights for domestic services connecting Trichy. New flight connectivity from Trichy to Kolkata is on cards too,' airport director S Gnaneswara Rao said. 'There is demand for connectivity to Trivandrum, Mysore, and Kannur. IndiGo profit drops 20% in Q1 as travel caution follows AI crash, geopolitical tensions
IndiGo recorded a profit of ₹2,176.3 crore for the first quarter of the financial year 2026, marking a 20% decline as compared to same period last year. The drop came during a traditionally weak quarter that was further impacted by several headwinds, including a 'caution in travel sentiment' following the Air India AI171 crash. 'In June, as the booking trend and passenger cancellations were beginning to normalise we had a tragic AI171 accident. This led to a caution in travel sentiment, particularly on the international side,' said IndiGo CEO Pieter Elbers during a post-results call with analysts. The air crash was not an isolated factor though, and was followed by West Asia conflict that resulted in over 100 flights being cancelled over two days. In May there had been cancellations due to border tensions with Pakistan as well as re-routings for West-bound flights due to the closure of Pakistan airspace. Despite the headwings the passenger numbers crew by around 6% industry-wide, while IndiGo recorded more than 10 lakh passengers reflecting a 12% growth over previous year. 'A double digit growth during a turbulent quarter speaks volumes about the strength of our network and the relevance of our offering,' the CEO added. The airline's total income for the quarter-ended June 2025 was ₹21,542 crore , an increase of 6.4% over the same period last year. Total expenses for the same quarter were ₹19,231 crore, an increase of 10.2% for the same comparative period. IndiGo had a total cash balance of ₹49,405 crore comprising ₹34,801 crore of free cash and ₹14,603 crore of restricted cash.
