The Hindu12-07-2025
The 'Suparipalanalo Tholi Adugu' (First Step Towards Good Governance) campaign received an enthusiastic response from rural communities in the Gangadhara Nellore Assembly constituency. Minister for Transport Mandipalli Ramprasad Reddy and Minister for Power Gottipati Ravikumar led a door-to-door outreach, engaging directly with villagers to explain the State government's flagship initiatives.
Addressing the media at Gangadhara Nellore on Saturday, Mr. Ramprasad Reddy said the Chief Minister remained committed to implementing the promised 'Super Six' welfare schemes. Marking one year of the coalition government, he said efforts were underway to ensure that all eligible beneficiaries received their entitlements without delay.
Mango farmers
Citing farmer-friendly interventions, Mr. Ramprasad Reddy highlighted a substantial increase in Totapuri mango production—from 2.5 lakh metric tonnes in 2024 to over 7 lakh metric tonnes this year. He said the State government had mandated pulp processing industries to pay ₹8 per kg to farmers, and an additional ₹4 per kg would be directly credited to farmers' bank accounts as a subsidy.
Infrastructure development
Mr. Ravikumar said the government was prioritising infrastructure development, particularly in the power sector. He announced that proposals to establish three new 33/11 KV substations at Balaganganapalli, Gadanki, and Ramachenupalli in the district would be fast-tracked to strengthen the rural power supply network.

Former Andhra CM Jagan's maternal uncle booked for political comments at Tirumala temple

Tirumala police, on Monday, registered a case against YSR Congress Party leader P. Ravindranath Reddy, the maternal uncle of party President and former Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, for allegedly making political comments in Tirumala temple premises. On a complaint by the Vigilance officials of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD), the police registered a case against Ravindranath Reddy, a former MLA and former Mayor of Kadapa. The YSRCP leader allegedly violated the TTD rules by making political comments on Sunday after offering prayers. He made the comments while talking to media persons in front of the temple. Ravindranath Reddy criticised the ruling Telugu Desam Party (TDP)-led coalition government and commented on political developments, including the Pulivendula Zilla Parishad Territorial Constituency by-election. He alleged that the TDP-led alliance was indulging in irregularities and attempting to intimidate YSRCP workers and Pulivendula residents. He also claimed that crop yields had declined under the present government and accused it of betraying the people of Andhra Pradesh in the name of Super Six scheme. The TTD Board, which looks after the affairs of Sri Venkateswara temple, had issued a directive in November last year, banning political and hate speeches at the Tirumala temple premises. The Board had emphasised the need to preserve the spiritual sanctity of the holy site. The TTD Board noted that the incidents of political leaders making controversial statements to media personnel immediately after temple darshan have disrupted the spiritual atmosphere traditionally characterised by divine chants of "Govinda". The Board had warned that any person violating the directive will face legal consequences. Political leaders have been explicitly requested to refrain from making political statements or engaging in hate speech within the temple precincts. The TTD officials are keeping a close watch on the media interactions of the political leaders after darshan. It's common for leaders of all the parties to speak to media after coming out of the temple. However, political leaders have been exercising caution since the TTD issued the order in November last year.

Home Minister assures peaceful ZPTC byelections in Pulivendula and Ontimitta amid rising tensions, allegations

Amid rising tensions ahead of the ZPTC by-elections in Pulivendula and Ontimitta in Kadapa district on Tuesday, Home Minister Vangalapudi Anitha has assured that polling will be conducted peacefully in both constituencies. Addressing a press conference at the Velagapudi secretariat on Monday, she stated, 'The Pulivendula and Ontimitta ZPTC elections will take place in a peaceful environment. It is surprising that the former Chief Minister and Pulivendula MLA, Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, is alleging irregularities and violence.' Ms. Anitha recalled that in the past, Pulivendula had witnessed only unanimous polls, with common instances of nomination papers being torn and candidates threatened. 'Now, with 11 nominations filed in Pulivendula, it is evident that elections are being held democratically,' she added. Responding to allegations regarding the relocation of polling booths from villages to more distant locations, she clarified, 'The changes in polling booths are entirely under the Election Commission's jurisdiction. The notification was issued on July 28, and objections were invited at that time. No political party raised any concerns then. The polling booths are approximately two kilometers away, not just for YSRCP but also for TDP. Therefore, arrangements for transportation have been made.' Ms. Anitha also expressed confidence that the TDP would secure victories in both Pulivendula and Ontimitta. Sharing similar sentiments, BC Welfare Minister S. Savita accused the YSRCP chief of spreading falsehoods to mislead the public amid fears of defeat in the Pulivendula ZPTC by-election. She said, 'Jagan's anxiety is clear as he resorts to fake narratives and undemocratic tactics. The public is aware of the truth surrounding the murder of his uncle, Vivekananda Reddy, yet he shamelessly attempts to manipulate facts and drag the Chief Minister's name into it. These cheap tactics will not save him this time.' Ms. Savita contrasted the current NDA government's approach, which seeks votes on the basis of its Super Six promises and transparent governance, with the previous regime under Mr. Jagan, where opposition candidates were often barred from filing nominations in local body polls. 'Back then, the Election Commission itself faced intimidation, and Mr. Jagan suppressed democracy. Today, nominations are being freely filed in Pulivendula itself — a clear testament to true democracy,' she concluded.

Gopinath Munde united OBCs, but ensured others aren't sidelined: Fadnavis

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Monday said that BJP stalwart late Gopinath Munde played a significant role in uniting Other Backward Classes (OBCs) while ensuring that no other section was sidelined. The chief minister was speaking after unveiling a statue of Munde in Latur district. Addressing a gathering on the occasion, he said, 'Today's politicians should learn from Munde. While he brought OBCs together, he also ensured that no other section was sidelined. He became the leader of all communities.' Fadnavis mentioned that Munde became the Maharashtra BJP president when he was just 35 years. Terming him a mass leader, Fadnavis said, 'Munde's stature was such that people rallied around him with unwavering commitment. It did not matter whether he was in power or not.' Fadnavis also recalled that Munde as the leader of opposition 'rocked the state legislative Assembly'. 'He took on the ruling parties fearlessly. And many in those days would spend sleepless nights fearing what he would expose about the government. Yet, Munde never crossed the limits. His personal equations with everybody across party lines were cordial,' Fadnavis said. 'I had closely seen and worked with Munde. Being much younger in the legislative Assembly, he would often assign me work. I learnt by watching Munde's strategy and strokes and style of speech on the floor of the House,' he added. When the first Shiv Sena-BJP government came to power in 1995, Munde became the home minister and introduced the stringent MCOCA to curb crimes. Munde was appointed as the Rural Development Minister by Prime Minister Narendra Modi when he assumed office in 2014. However, Munde died in a road accident in the early hours of June 3, 2014. Fadnavis said, 'In the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, Munde had given the slogan 'Narendra at Centre, Devendra in Maharashtra'. But I had then said, 'We were just lending Munde to the Centre for six months. After the Assembly polls, Munde would return to Maharashtra as CM'. But our wish remained unfulfilled.' The chief minister promised that Munde's dream of development in his drought-hit Marathwada region will be accomplished by the Mahayuti government. 'The government will divert 54 housand million cubic feet (TMC) of water that goes into the sea to the parched Marathwada region,', he said. 'Munde's dream of bringing railways to his home district Beed will be fulfilled. The coach factory in Latur will generate employment for 10,000 people once the production starts next year,' the chief minister added. Munde's daughter and cabinet minister Pankaja Munde, PWD minister Shivendraraje Bhosale, former NCP minister Dhananjay Munde were present at the event.
