After years of fan requests, the Buffalo Bills have officially confirmed the return of their iconic red helmets. Once a signature look during the team's dominant run in the 1990s, the red helmets are set to make a triumphant return in Week 18 of the 2025 NFL season.
Buffalo Bills to debut throwback Red Helmets at Highmark Stadium
The Buffalo Bills will bring back the classic red helmets for their final regular-season game — a highly anticipated Week 18 matchup at Highmark Stadium. This move marks the first time in over a decade that the team will sport the beloved look that defined their Super Bowl-era teams led by legends like Jim Kelly and Thurman Thomas.
Bills Mafia has long pushed for a return to the team's throwback roots, and this uniform update answers those calls.
The decision to wear the red helmets during the final home game is symbolic — closing out the season, and potentially the stadium's final chapter, with a nod to Buffalo's proud football history.
The timing is perfect. With the Bills in playoff contention and fan excitement peaking, the retro look adds energy and nostalgia. It connects today's stars like Josh Allen and Stefon Diggs with the greats of the past, reinforcing the franchise's legacy while rallying fans for a strong finish.

Justin Jefferson hamstring injury: Will the Vikings WR start the 2025 NFL season?

Minnesota Vikings coach Kevin O'Connell revealed on Friday that star wide receiver Justin Jefferson has suffered a 'mild' injury to his left hamstring. O'Connell said that Jefferson will miss some time in the pre-season but is expected to be fit and ready for Week 1 of the 2025-26 NFL season. Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson (18) hydrates during the team's NFL football training camp Wednesday, July 23.(AP) O'Connell told reporters that Jefferson felt some discomfort in his left hamstring during Thursday's practice and has been sent for an MRI scan. He will be evaluated by the franchise's medical team next week, after which a clear timeline for his return to team practice will be set. 'The best thing is we avoided anything serious,' he said. Kevin O'Connell said that he is confident about Jefferson returning before the Minnesota Vikings' Week 1 clash against the Chicago Bears on September 9, 2025, at the Bears where they will be travelling to the Bears' home ground, the Soldier Field. "I see no concerns in regards to Week 1 and have no worry at all that we'll be able to get Justin ready to go for the regular season," O'Conell stated. Jefferson, 26, will be entering his sixth season in the NFL, having joined the Vikings from the LSU Tigers in the 2020 NFL draft. Back in 2023, the four-time All-Pro receiver suffered a serious injury to his right hamstring during a Week 5 clash against the Kansas City Chiefs. It sidelined him for the next seven weeks, resulting in him missing a significant portion of the 2023-24 season. Kevil O'Connell referred to the 2023 injury and pointed out that this time, his left hamstring has been strained. Justin Jefferson was a key part of the Minnesota Vikings' offence, playing all 17 games of the season. He completed 109 receptions, which ranked him as the sixth-best receiver in the league in the 2024-25 season. Additionally, he has 1,533 yards covered, with an average of 14.9 yards per reception, to go with 10 receiving touchdowns.

Jets to have officials at camp to reduce penalties, says coach Aaron Glenn

FLORHAM PARK, N.J. (AP) — The New York Jets hope seeing more black-and-white stripes in training camp will result in fewer yellow flags during the season. HT Image Coach Aaron Glenn said Friday the team will often have officials at practice through the summer after the Jets, under the previous regime of coach Robert Saleh, led the NFL in penalties the last two seasons. New York rarely used officials during training camp practices last summer. Many NFL teams hire officials for at least some of their camp practices, giving players the opportunity to get used to how plays are called in a non-game environment. 'I want the officials here as much as possible and they know that,' Glenn said. "It's no secret that we were the most-penalized team in the league last year, so that's one of the things that I want to nip in the bud early — making sure that the discipline part of what we do, that we fix that now. 'You cannot win games in this league with an undisciplined team, so all the penalties that we had last year, we're knocking those things out.' Last season, the Jets were penalized 137 times, five more than Tennessee and Baltimore, and finished 5-12 — with Saleh and general manager Joe Douglas both fired in the middle of the season. In 2023, New York was called for 124 penalties, nine more than Cleveland and Dallas, and went 7-10. 'The officials are going to be here and we're going to knock that out, all right,' Glenn said. 'I will tell you this: We are going to knock these penalties out. We're going to understand that undisciplined teams do not win games.' Philadelphia, last year's Super Bowl champion, ranked 11th in the NFL with 103 penalties. Kansas City, the AFC champion, was fourth with 94. The Los Angeles Rams, who won the NFC West, had the fewest penalties in the league with 91. Glenn said there are two types of calls on players during games: pre-snap penalties — 'the dumb penalties' — and competitive penalties, including pass interference. 'The competitive penalties, listen, you go back and forth with those, right?' Glenn said. 'Like P.I., guys are fighting. Those are competitive penalties. Holds, those are competitive. Now, false starts, jumping offside, hitting after plays, the dumb stuff, we've got to knock those out. And we control those. And those are the things I want to make sure we get rid of.' ___ AP NFL:

In his second year with the Falcons, the 23-year-old rushed for 1,456 yards and scored 14 touchdowns on 304 attempts, ranking third in the NFL for rushing yards, just behind Barkley and Derrick Henry. But that's not all. Robinson also caught 61 passes for 431 yards, bringing his total scrimmage yards to an impressive 1,887—making it the fourth-best in the league. He really showed off his skills, whether it was shaking off defenders on the ground or grabbing passes from the backfield. Pro Football Focus noted that he forced 70 missed tackles, proving the agility and vision Barkley talked about. That performance got him a Pro Bowl nod and confirmed his place as one of the top young stars in the league. Robinson still believes there's room for improvement. His longest run this season was just 37 yards, and he only had one play that went over 30 yards all year. This is quite different from Barkley, who had seven runs of 40+ yards in 2024. With rookie Michael Penix Jr. taking over as the starting quarterback, the Falcons are expected to depend a lot on Robinson to power the offense. A strong running game can relieve some pressure from a young QB, and Robinson has proven he can handle it.
