
Kanpur to get 15 futsal, box cricket grounds soon
Times News NetworkKanpur: The city will soon get 15 grounds for futsal and box cricket at different locations. According to the Kanpur Municipal Corporation (KMC) sources, construction work for four futsal grounds has already started while work at the remaining 12 places would commence next week.
The municipal commissioner Sudhir Kumar stated that the cost of one futsal ground was around Rs 15 lakh and all grounds would be ready for use within one month.To encourage sports and sports activities in the city, futsal grounds have been raised at Shastri Nagar and Babupurwa, said the municipal commissioner, adding that the sites for the remaining grounds have been identified and soon work would start there. On average, around Rs 15 lakhs would be spent on one facility.All grounds would be operated on the PPP model and facilities would be of international level. For coaching of 6 to 14 years children, the fee has been fixed as Rs 500 per month, Rs 700 per hour for cricket matches and Rs 900 per hour for night matches. Similarly, for tournaments, Rs 2,000 per day for four hours, and in the night Rs 3,000 for every four hours per day.The municipal commissioner stated that futsal grounds would be raised at Ram Lila Park Raipurwa (zone-1), ward 62, ward 72 and Ram Gopal Crossing Park (zone 2), Ram Lila Park Vasant Vihar, ward 36 and 38 (zone 3), ward 7, Charan Singh Colony Park, ward 45, Durga Mandir Park Barra-8 and ward 57, Panki Anjani Park.

New Delhi: After India's 0-1 loss to Hong Kong in the AFC Asian Cup 2027 Qualifiers, former India captain Bhaichung Bhutia strongly criticised the All India Football Federation (AIFF) for reportedly offering players a USD 50,000 bonus had they won the game. Following a goalless draw against Bangladesh in their opening match, India desperately needed a win to stay in contention. However, their hopes were dashed by a stoppage-time penalty, leading to another disappointing result. In an exclusive interview with IANS, Bhutia called for AIFF president Kalyan Chaubey to step down 'to save Indian football' and questioned the logic behind such ad-hoc financial incentives. 'We've seen reports that players haven't even received their daily allowance of Rs 2,500. Indian footballers don't have central contracts like cricketers. They don't earn in lakhs or crores. Their compensation largely comes through daily allowances,' Bhutia said. 'Then suddenly, out of nowhere, there's a USD 50,000 prize announcement if they had won the game. Where did this come from? If they had won, would the same bonus be offered for the next four games? There's clearly no system, no strategy. Just random decisions with no clarity,' he said.
