2026 GMC Terrain First Drive Review: Stretching Upmarket
GMC engineers said they tuned the Terrain AT4's steering and suspension to be sportier than in the other models, but with taller tire sidewalls on smaller wheels, the AT4 feels very similar to the Denali: comfortable and a little choppy over broken pavement. The only major difference is hydraulic bump stops so the AT4 can soften hard impacts that might happen on off-road trails.
The Grabber all-terrain tires provide less on-road grip than the Continental and Michelin all-seasons that come on the 19-inch and 20-inch wheels, but they'll do their best work in the mud and dirt. These tires proved exceptional at digging in for traction during recent off-road drives of the Honda Passport TrailSport and Ford Expedition Tremor, so they'll do the job here as well.
However, GMC doesn't give the tires help in the form of locking center or rear differentials to find traction when a wheel is off the ground or the surfaces differ under different wheels. The AT4 also doesn't offer forward camera views for off-roading, crawl control, or exotic features like disconnecting sway bars or the raised ride height of an air suspension. The Terrain AT4 will get you to the campsite or the trailhead, but it's not an off-road hobbyist's choice. Should you take your Terrain AT4 off-road, however, activating the Terrain mode will act as a one-pedal driving mode to control your speed up and down hills.

To help people stay safe out there, he compiled a list of all the Nissans you should look out for on the road. Fair warning, his list is highly unserious. 'Remember, Nissan doesn't make any car that isn't Altima based,' Shadetreemotors says in the reel. As images of various models of damaged Nissans flash by, Shadetreemotors describes them as the Smalltima, Talltima (pickup truck), Crawltima (bigger truck), HVACinstalltima (white cargo van), Beckywe'regoingtothemalltima (pink SUV), and Recalltima (Nissan with a deployed airbag). 'Stay safe out there,' he warns. One of the Most Dangerous Cars on the Road Shadetreemotors may have been joking, but he does have a point about Altimas being dangerous. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), an independent nonprofit dedicated to making vehicles and roads safer, conducted a study of driver deaths that occurred from 2018 to 2021. It found that the Nissan Altima has among the worst death rates. The Altima comes in at number nine for driver death and 14 for other driver death. In contrast, the Nissan Pathfinder 2WD and Nissan Murano 2WD were among the safest for driver deaths. The consensus on Altima drivers being reckless is so clear that there's even a term for it: 'Big Altima Energy.' And despite having good safety ratings, from 2020-2022, The Autopian reports that Altimas had a crash claim rate 45% above average and more than double the average rate of personal injury and medical payment claims for midsize sedans. One Redditor shared why they think this may be the case. They think it has to do with the drivers, not the car. 'Nissans are heavily used in the rental market and resold cheaply—who buys cheap cars?' they wrote. 'Poor people and those with bad driving records who can't get financing. People working delivery jobs, or multiple jobs—both with an elevated risk for accidents. I mean—any other vehicle could slot right in if used the same way.' Commenters React People were highly amused by Shadetreemotors' take on Nissans. 'I saw this a year ago and always laugh to myself whenever I see an HVAC Installtima,' a top comment reads. 'My dads Altima is called the Assaultima. I named it,' one person shared. 'I'm a dealer, the one and only Altima I got had a bullet hole in it,' another wrote. 'Nissan Altimas always have the right of way…. Whoever is less afraid to get into an accident will always have the right of way,' a commenter said. How to Roll Down Windows Using your Key Fob While each car brand will have a specific cadence and sequence to follow, here are some beginning places to search. First, check the owner's manual. The manual will provide the specific instructions needed to activate the key fob window roll-down. As some makes and models will vary, the manual is the best place to get correct information specific to your car. Now, if reading through the manual isn't your thing, try this. Click the unlock button once on your keyfob, then hold it again for anywhere from five to 10 seconds. While holding down the unlock button, see if the windows start rolling down. Once the windows are at the desired height, release the unlock button and press lock to stop the window from rolling down. What Are the Downsides to This Key Fob Feature? With any new features come some issues. One of the downsides to this key fob secret is that it's simply not commonly known among drivers. While this feature is great if you know about it, it's not always so great when you accidentally discover it. Donald Trump's tariffs on steel and aluminum are likely to have a deep impact on the input costs of the U.S. automaker Ford Motor Co. (NYSE:F), explains Alex Tsepaev, the chief strategy officer at B2PRIME Group. What Happened: Unlike globalized automakers like Stellantis NV (NYSE:STLA), Ford remains deeply tied to U.S.-centric manufacturing, Tsepaev told Benzinga, suggesting that 'A 50% tariff could inflate COGS significantly just as pricing power erodes in both EV and ICE segments.' The cost of goods sold, or COGS, refers to the input costs paid by the firm to manufacture its final products. Steel makes up more than half of the weight of a vehicle, and Ford can't do anything with this reality. In 2018, similar tariffs were estimated to cost Ford over $1 billion annually. When your business runs on metal and tariffs make the metal more expensive, Wall Street notices it.' Earlier in May, Ford suspended its financial guidance during the first quarter results, which included full-year adjusted EBIT and adjusted free cash flow, due to tariff-related uncertainty. According to Tsepaev, this was due to a 65% decline in profits, with revenues falling to $40 billion. He forecasts that increased input volatility for Ford could lead to downward revisions. 'In today's environment, policy uncertainty is the new supply chain risk. For investors, Ford looks exposed, rigid, and margin-constrained in all the wrong places,' Tsepaev It Matters: Trump doubled U.S. tariffs on imported steel from 25% to 50% on May 31, which took effect on June 4. Trump said he initially considered a 40% tariff but raised it after feedback from industry leaders. 'At 25% they can sorta get over that fence,' he said, adding, 'At 50% nobody's getting over that fence.' In 2018, Trump-era tariffs prompted a minor rise in U.S. steel production. However, a 2023 report by the International Trade Commission found that these same tariffs increased costs for downstream industries, leading to a more than $3 billion reduction in output for vehicle, machinery, and tool sectors by 2021, suggesting a net negative economic impact. Shares of Ford ended 1.58% higher on Friday, and they have risen by 6.32% on a year-to-date basis, but it was down 17.12% over the last year. In premarket on Monday, the stock was up 0.05%.
