'Housefull 5' Box Office collection day 19: Akshay Kumar's comedy film loses steam; earns Rs 1.25 crore on third Tuesday

Time of India6 hours ago

Akshay Kumar
's latest film 'Housefull 5' is clearly losing steam as it enters its third week in cinemas. On Day 19 (third Tuesday), the comedy managed to earn Rs 1.25 crore as reported by Sacnilk.
This is a clear sign that the film is now fading from Cinemas. So far, the total collection of the film stands at Rs 178.50 crore.
A strong start, but now losing grip
When 'Housefull 5' hit the big screen, it opened with big numbers and seemed like a sure-shot hit. But by the time it reached its third week, the film started to slow down. According to early estimates by Sacnilk, the film collected Rs 1.25 crore on Day 19. This is only a slight increase from Day 18, when it made Rs 1.15 crore.
The film had a stronger third weekend, collecting Rs 2.5 crore on Saturday and Rs 3.5 crore on Sunday.
But after that, the weekday numbers have gone down again.
Impact of new releases
The drop in 'Housefull 5''s numbers came soon after
Aamir Khan
's 'Sitaare Zameen Par' released on 20 June. Since then, that film has been pulling a lot of the audience, which has clearly affected 'Housefull 5''s run. Even though the film tried to hold on during the weekends, the weekdays have not been kind.

What lies ahead for the film?
Directed by
Tarun Mansukhani
, 'Housefull 5' features a big star cast – Akshay Kumar,
Riteish Deshmukh
, Abhishek Bachchan, Sanjay Dutt, and
Nana Patekar
. With new films like 'Maa', 'F1: The Movie' and Akshay's another film 'Kannappa' set to release soon, the road ahead could be even tougher. If 'Housefull 5' wants to cross the Rs 180 crore mark or get anywhere close to Rs 200 crore, it will need a strong push with better numbers over the coming days.
Will it reach Rs 200 Crore?
At this point, 'Housefull 5' is moving slowly. Crossing Rs 180 crore might happen, but getting to Rs 200 crore looks tough.

Sonakshi Sinha breaks silence on box-office clash with Kajol's 'Maa', isn't upset with not being cast in 'Son Of Sardaar 2': 'If they have replaced me...'

'Nikita Roy', a psychological thriller, is set to release in theatres across the country on June 27, alongside 'Maa', a mythological horror film. 'It's so cool that we've two films led by women that are releasing side by side. That's like a step in the right direction, and, amazingly, it's happening. And there's room for everyone. Both are different films, and we wish them well. It's like a good, healthy competition ,' Sonakshi told PTI in an interview. STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD 'I have seen the trailer of 'Maa' and I enjoyed it. Kajol is a phenomenal actress. She's somebody that I've looked up to and I admire. I'm looking forward to watching her film,' the actor added. Both films tap into the celebration of strong female narratives, a theme that Sonakshi is passionate about. For years, the actor said she has made a conscious effort to choose roles that empower women whether it is 'Akira', 'Dahaad' or 'Heeramandi'. 'I've made it clear with the choices I've made for the last 8-9 years, that I want to portray strong female characters. It's something that gives me joy to be able to shoulder a film and play a title role, like 'Nikita Roy', 'Noor', and 'Akira'. It's very empowering. It's a big thing to be able to do that. I want to be the hero of my films,' Sinha said. In 'Nikita Roy', Sinha plays the role of an investigator who debunks supernatural claims and exposes frauds and dismantles deceptive beliefs. But when she encounters a case that defies all beliefs, her convictions begin to falter. Written by Pavan Kirpalani of 'Phobia' fame, 'Nikita Roy' explores the fragile boundary between perception and reality, unravelling themes of paranoia, buried truths, and the human mind's darker recesses. It is helmed by Sonakshi's brother, Kussh S Sinha, who is making his debut as a director. 'It's a story that's been with me for a long time. It came to me about ten years ago, and when Kush came to me in 2021-2022 with the story, I said this is a testament to the fact that if a role is written for you, it always comes to you,' the actor said. STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD With her brother Kussh at the helm, Sonakshi said it turned out to be a 'smooth' collaborative process. 'I thought that as siblings, we would have our squabbles on set, but that was not the case. On set, I was the actor, he was the director. He's clear in his head in terms of what and how he wants to portray a scene,' she said. Sonakshi said she is in a 'great' space professionally as she gears up for a slew of exciting projects, including her Telugu film debut, 'Jathadhara', where she stars alongside Sudheer Babu and the second season of Sanjay Leela Bhansali's 'Heeramandi'. 'It's not about the language, it's about the story and role,' she said, adding, 'the script of 'Heeramandi' is being written and she is waiting to see how the world unfolds'. When asked about not being part of the sequel to her 2012 film, 'Son of Sardaar', and why female actors are being replaced in franchise movies, Sinha said she isn't 'upset' about it and believes the makers have a reason to not cast her. STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD 'I haven't had a conversation with anyone. But I'm sure they have a good reason , maybe the story or the character is not the same in the sequel. If they had replaced my character, then I would be worried. But I don't think that's the case. I'm not too upset about it. I wish them all the very best,' she said. 'Nikita Roy' also stars Arjun Rampal, Paresh Rawal and Suhail Nayyar in pivotal roles. The film is produced by Nickky Bhagnani and Viicky Bhagnani. Anand Mehta, Prakash Nand Bijlani, Shakti Bhatnagar, Mehnaaz Shaikh, and Prem Raj Joshi serve as co-producers.

Delhi HC allows actor Rajpal Yadav to fly to Melbourne for film promotions

NEW DELHI: The Delhi HC has granted permission to Bollywood actor Rajpal Naurang Yadav to travel to Melbourne, Australia between June 27 and July 5 for the promotion of his upcoming film Mera Kale Rang Da Yaar. Vacation judge Justice Rajneesh Kumar Gupta approved Yadav's request, stating that the actor must furnish a fixed deposit receipt (FDR) of Rs 1 lakh, which will be deposited with the Court's Registry as a condition for his travel. 'The Applicant/Petitioner no. 1 shall furnish his mobile number and e-mail ID, at the time of furnishing FDR, which shall be kept operational at all times during the period of visit in Melbourne, Australia,' the Court directed. Yadav's passport, which is currently held by the trial court, has been ordered to be released temporarily for the duration of his trip. The Court made it clear that the passport must be re-deposited once he returns to India. The matter is scheduled to be heard next by the roster bench on July 8. The application to travel abroad was filed in connection with Yadav's ongoing legal battle—he and his wife are petitioners in a plea challenging his conviction under Section 138 of the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881. In June last year, a coordinate bench of the HC had suspended the sentence imposed by the trial court, taking into account that the Yadavs were not habitual offenders. The bench had also encouraged both parties to explore a possible amicable resolution to the matter. The dispute is presently being handled by the Delhi High Court Mediation Centre. The Court had previously allowed the actor and his wife to travel abroad as well.
