It will feature Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa and Commanders QB Jayden Daniels.
The NFL previously announced that the Dolphins would be host of the game, but has not confirmed the opponent or date. The official announcement is due Tuesday, May 13.
This will mark the Dolphins' first overseas game since their trip to Frankfurt, Germany, in 2023 that resulted in a 21-14 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs.

This isn't the first time the Dolphins have been part of NFL international history. They played in the first regular-season game outside of North America on Oct. 28, 2007, when they lost 13-10 to the New York Giants at Wembley Stadium in London.

This season's game in Spain will be in the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium, home of the Real Madrid soccer club. The stadium is named after Santiago Bernabeu, who became president of the club in 1943 and was determined to build a home worthy of the team and its growing support.
On Dec. 14, 1947, his dream became a reality when the stadium opened.
Now with a retractable roof, the stadium is undergoing massive renovations, just one of a series of such upgrades over the years. Its capacity is slightly less than 80,000 for soccer.
Among the events held at the stadium were the 1982 World Cup; multiple Champions League finals starting in 1957 and most recently in 2010; and multiple European Cup finals also beginning in 1957.

Pope John Paul II visited the stadium in 1982.
Concert acts appearing at the Bernabeu include Madrid's Julio Iglesias, Frank Sinatra, U2, Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band, the Rolling Stones and Taylor Swift.

Premier League chief calls for patience as Man City legal case drags on
LONDON (AP) — The Premier League's top official called for patience Wednesday while the seismic legal case involving Manchester City drags on into another season. City was charged by the league in February 2023 with more than 100 financial breaches, including providing misleading information about its sources of income. The case was heard by an independent commission between September and December last year but no verdict has been reached. Punishment could be as extreme as expulsion from the top flight. City has always denied the charges. The issue hangs over the start of another Premier League campaign, with the 2025-26 season starting Friday. But Richard Masters, the competition's chief executive, reiterated the league has no control or say over the timings. Asked in an interview with British broadcaster Sky Sports News why the league could not hurry the process along, Masters said: 'I can't answer that specific question. All I can tell you about is the system and how it works. 'I mean, it's an independent judiciary, essentially. So once the allegations, the charge, has been put forward, they go before an independent panel, which is independently selected, and they are then in charge of the process and its timings. They hear the case, they decide the outcome, and we have no influence over that, over it or its timing. That's right from an independence point of view.' Masters said 'my frustration is irrelevant.' 'I just have to wait,' he said, 'and legal processes rarely take less time than you anticipated, but we have to be patient.' Taking the Premier League abroad The Spanish league has recently approved a request for a match, between Villarreal and Barcelona, to be played in the United States in December and Masters was asked whether the Premier League had any similar desire to take a game abroad. Masters said the need has lessened. 'We did look at the '39th game' way back when, with lots of controversy. I recall that very clearly,' Masters said of a controversial proposal made back in 2008 of having an extra round of matches played overseas. 'Our objective at the time, when thinking about it, was to help grow the Premier League around the world. 'And we've been able to do that through different means, through brilliant broadcast partnerships, through digital technology, investing in other areas, like the Summer Series tournament we've just had in the U.S., and now the Premier League is a genuinely global league. There are billions of people who will be tuning in over the course of the next next nine months to watch Premier League action. So we've achieved that objective by different means, that necessity has dissipated.' ___ AP soccer:

Sauce Gardner dealing with sore calf, status for Jets' preseason game against Giants up in the air
New York Jets cornerback Sauce Gardner sat out the team's joint practice with the Giants on Wednesday because of a sore calf. Gardner participated in practice Tuesday at the Jets' facility in Florham Park but wasn't spotted during the teams' session at the Giants' facility Wednesday. "Sauce wasn't out (there) today," coach Aaron Glenn said after practice. "He had some calf soreness. We'll continue to evaluate him and see exactly where he's at." Gardner has been one of the Jets' best players since being drafted fourth overall out of Cincinnati in 2022. He was the AP Defensive Rookie of the Year and was an All-Pro selection in his first two NFL seasons. The 24-year-old Gardner had a slightly off season, by his standards, last year but is still considered one of the league's elite cornerbacks. Gardner signed a four-year, $120.4 million extension through the 2030 season, making him the NFL's highest-paid player at his position. He also is the focal point of a new-look secondary for the Jets, who have Gardner and free-agent signing Brandon Stephens at cornerback, with Michael Carter as the nickelback and free-agent signing Andre Cisco and Tony Adams at safety. The Jets don't have another full practice before their preseason game against the Giants on Saturday night. Glenn declined to say whether he would play his starters in that game -- "The plan is the plan," is all he would divulge -- so it's unclear if Gardner would participate even if healthy. Typically, teams play their starters for a quarter or a half in the second game, using it as a warmup for the regular season while backups typically play the final preseason game. Rookie quarterback Brady Cook, an undrafted free agent out of Missouri, was back on the field after leaving practice Tuesday with an ankle injury after someone stepped on his foot. He didn't participate in team drills. "Held him out, but I anticipate him playing this week," Glenn said. "So that's good." Cook is one of just three healthy quarterbacks on the Jets' roster, with starter Justin Fields and Adrian Martinez. Glenn announced Tuesday that veteran backup Tyrod Taylor had arthroscopic knee surgery and wouldn't play the rest of the preseason.

Jaguars rookie Travis Hunter's college GPA resurfaces after preseason opener
Travis Hunter is aiming to add his name to the incredibly short list of two-way NFL athletes. While the 22-year-old's on-field prowess is undeniable, Hunter is also making headlines for his talent in the classroom. Hunter finished his NFL preseason debut with two receptions. He also took some snaps on the defensive side of the ball. But after the Pittsburgh Steelers' 31-25 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars, much of the attention turned to Hunter's college grade point average. "I think it's a 3.7 or 3.9," Hunter told reporters in April. Hunter was then asked about the mental difficulties that would come with being a two-way player. The rookie remained steadfast in his belief he was up for the task. "That's all I have to do is play football and go out there and study and make sure I understand what I'm doing." Two-way NFL players have been a rarity. Chuck Bednarik was the league's last full-time two-way athlete. Bednarik was a linebacker and offensive lineman for the Philadelphia Eagles from 1949-62. Sammy Baugh and Don Hutson are also notable former two-way stars. Baugh was a quarterback, defensive back and punter. Huston spent his entire NFL career with the Green Bay Packers, playing receiver and safety. He later had a stint as a Packers assistant coach. First-year Jaguars head coach Liam Coen liked what he saw from Hunter when he lined up on the offensive side of the ball. The coach also hinted there was room for improvement on the defensive side. "He made a couple good catches on some option routes and missed the one tackle defensively that I noticed," Coen said. "I'll have to watch the tape on how he operated defensively a little bit more, but I thought offensively, he made the right decisions on those option routes. Made a good catch, almost broke out of that one where Trevor put it behind him on that third down we talked about, but I'll have to go watch the tape a little bit more to know more." Hunter, who was once a highly-sought-after high school recruit, started his career at Jackson State. He then followed Pro Football Hall of Famer Deion Sanders to Colorado. Hunter won the Heisman Trophy last December. He delivered a heartfelt acceptance speech at the Lincoln Center in New York City, thanking his friends, teammates, and his father. "I want to say something to my father. He's not here. But I know you're watching on TV," the two-way star said. "Dad, I love you. All the stuff you went through, man. Now, look at your oldest son. I did it for you, man. All the times that you ain't get to see me, and the times that you came to see my games. From probably two games in high school to seeing me on TV every weekend and coming to see me, man, that means so much to me." In April, the Jaguars used the second overall draft selection to bring Hunter's talents to Jacksonville. The New Orleans Saints host the Jaguars on Aug. 18 in the second week of preseason action. The Jaguars welcome the Carolina Panthers on Sept. 7 to open the regular season.
