Star Wars Battlefront 2 Dev Wants to 'Get the Band Back Together' For Another Game
A former developer on Star Wars Battlefront 2 has publicly said they'd like to 'get the band back together' and make a Star Wars Battlefront 3.
After the success of Andor Season 2 on Disney Plus, there's been a surprising rise in interest in Battlefront 2. The game has seen a bump in players, and both Reddit and especially TikTok have been inundated with fans asking for a Battlefront 3.
In a response to a Reddit comment, developer Mats Helge Holme, who worked on both the initial release of Battlefront 2 and it's re-release, said 'Me, and having heard around my group of ex-colleagues, we want to get the gang back together.'
Holm also noted that something like a content pack from Andor would still take six months to create, and that's if the proper team was even available. He adds that he has no idea how feasible it would actually be to try and reunite the original dev team as, 'we are spread far and wide.'
The team behind Battlefront 2 was disbanded in 2020 when support was ended for the game, and developers were shuffled onto Battlefield 2042 and other projects.
There's been a sort of perfect confluence of events that have pushed players back into Battlefront 2. Andor is obviously a part of it, along with the recent Star Wars Celebration in Japan, May the 4th events, and the latest season of Fortnite including Galactic Battle. Battlefront Updates on X says that on May 21, according to a reliable source, the game peaked at 160K+ concurrent players – the highest peak it's had in almost five years.
Star Wars Battlefront 2 first released in 2017, and was immediately met with immense backlash to its highly predatory loot box design. Outside of cosmetic items, the system meant iconic character like Darth Vader were locked, and players would need to spend dozens of hours grinding in order to unlock them.
EA eventually reversed its microtransaction plan to remove them from the game entirely. Despite those initial stumbles the game did find a passionate and vocal fanbase, with a stream of post-launch updates – especially after a 'Celebration' re-released in 2019 gave the game a wealth of new content.
DICE is currently one of three studios working on the Battlefield game, which is set to release sometime in 2025.
Star Wars Battlefront 2 is available on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.

Marvel Studios Recasts Beloved MCU Character
The Marvel Cinematic Universe is tied together by the recurring appearances of fan-favorite characters and the actors that portray them. As with most overlarge franchises, however, there have been recasts over the years. Now it looks like Marvel Studios made the decision to recast another MCU character for an upcoming project. Several MCU projects are currently in the works for both theaters and television. This particular recast will happen in an upcoming Disney Plus series, with the character having first appeared in the Spider-Man: Homecoming sequel Spider-Man: Far From Home . It's an interesting move on Marvel's part, but because of the unique scenario surrounding this role, it's quite understandable. This news specifically comes via insider Daniel Richtman, so we'll have to see what the official statement from Marvel Studios will be, but it looks like Richtman's claims are accurate so far. Fans will know for sure when the series Vision Quest is released via Disney Plus, but read below to know what Richtman had to share. According to Daniel Richtman, it looks like the character E.D.I.T.H., an A.I. built by Tony Stark which first debuted in Spider-Man: Far From Home , will be recast. This original version of the character was first voiced by Dawn Michelle King. The artificial intelligence was specifically tied to Stark's signature sunglasses that Tom Holland's Peter Parker later inherited but lost to the Department of Damage Control. Now Dawn Michelle King is apparently being recast with a new actress that will portray a human version of the artificial intelligence MCU character. This cast member will be none other than Emily Hampshire, who previously worked with Vision Quest showrunner Terry Matalas on 12 Monkeys . It's possible that King will still portray the original voice version of the character, but equally possible that Hampshire will replace her entirely, so we'll have to see what happens. However, it's an interesting development for Vision Quest , which will include several artificial intelligence characters featured in the MCU and in humanoid forms similar to Vision. Vision Quest is scheduled to be released via Disney Plus in 2026. Stay tuned to ScreenGeek for any additional updates regarding the highly-anticipated series as we have them.
