Eddie Murphy reveals his son and Martin Lawrence's daughter are officially married: 'We're in-laws'

Eddie Murphy's son and Martin Lawrence's daughter have made it official: Eric and Jasmin are married and their famous dads are now in-laws.
"Actually, they got married, like, two weeks ago," Murphy tells his Dreamgirls costar Jennifer Hudson on Thursday's episode of The Jennifer Hudson Show. (See the conversation in the clip below.) "They went off.... Everybody was making the big wedding plans, and they decided they wanted to do something quiet with just the two of them."
Murphy confirmed that he and Lawrence, his costar in projects such as Boomerang and Life, are now related by marriage.
"Yeah, we're in-laws," he said. "And he doesn't have to pay for that big wedding now."
The Coming to America star, who's a father of 10, had famously planned to have Lawrence pick up the tab on Eric and Jasmin's nuptials. (Lawrence is the father of three daughters.)
"Well, Eddie said I gotta pay for it," Lawrence said in December 2024 on iHeartRadio's Big Boy's Neighborhood. "He said I gotta pay for it, 'cause he paid for his last daughter's wedding — like the last six weddings — but he said it's my turn now."
Eric and Jasmin began dating in 2021, and they announced their engagement in November 2024.
When Hudson asked whether Murphy had sung at the wedding, the "Party All the Time" artist shut her down.
"No, they didn't have a wedding. They went off and they got married at the church. They just had the two of them and the preacher," Murphy said. "They had a quiet little thing. So I think we'll have like a big party or something."
So will Murphy sing at the celebration? He joked that he and Lawrence might do a duet.Murphy's also hoping for a more professional reunion with the Bad Boys franchise star.
"There's a bunch of ideas that we have," he said. "There's one thing: It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World. It's a movie from the ʼ60s. I want to remake it and do with all the funniest, like a who's who of Black comedy. That's what I want to do. And, of course, Martin would be in that."

Mel B Gushes About Her Return to ‘America's Got Talent': ‘This Feels Like a Triumph'

Mel B couldn't be more excited to be back at the judges' table on America's Got Talent after a seven-year absence. 'We're pulling out all the stops,' she says of the upcoming 20th season. Her return — alongside Simon Cowell, Howie Mandel and Sofía Vergara — is an emotional one: The 49-year-old Spice Girls singer (real name: Melanie Brown) was still dealing with the fallout of a messy divorce from ex Stephen Belafonte when she stepped away in 2018, and she's done a lot of healing since then. 'In my final year on AGT, I was not in a good place,' says the mom of three (she shares Phoenix, 26, with Jimmy Gulzar, Angel, 18, with Eddie Murphy and Madison, 13, with Stephen). 'So, this feels like a triumph for me. There is hope. You can piece your life back together with the support of good people around you.' Here, she talks to Life & Style's Fortune Benatar about her wedding plans with her hairdresser fiancé Rory McPhee and the latest on a Spice Girls reunion tour. You've said you were going through a rough time toward the end of your last stint on the show. What has your healing process been like? MB: It has involved a lot of hard work. I had to resolve issues with my family — as I was isolated from them for so long — and be totally honest with myself and others. [Back then] AGT represented a safe place. I could put on a Mel B mask and enjoy myself. How are you feeling now? MB: I see this current chapter in my life as a continuation of the work I've done. You don't just recover overnight. Tell us about your fellow panelists. MB: I love to play pranks with Howie. Sofía has been a revelation. She's so gorgeous, but she's also incredibly warm and really, really funny. Simon and I have known each other since he turned the Spice Girls down when we tried to get him to sign us. I love reminding him of that! You're turning 50 on May 29, 2025. Any party plans or goals for the year? MB: My goal for the year is to be happy and to do what I love, and AGT is part of that. I've made no plans, but I think there may be a little surprise in store for me! How has Rory changed your view on love? MB: Rory enabled me to trust a man and believe in kindness again. It was a slow romance, because I wasn't looking for a partner. He's a family friend — the best friend of my cousin — so he's known me and my family all his life. Tell us about your wedding. MB: We're getting married at St. Paul's Cathedral in London, where Princess Diana was married. I'm allowed to be married there because I was awarded an MBE [Member of the Order of the British Empire] by the late Queen [Elizabeth II] for my services to survivors of abuse and abused women. We've had many meetings with the dean and the bishop and have talked about the spiritual and religious importance of marriage and why we want to be married. I can promise my wedding will be a very happy day.

Why Isn't Heidi Klum on ‘America's Got Talent' Season 20? What We Know About Judges' Table Switch-Up!

Heidi Klum has spent years as a beloved judge on America's Got Talent – but in season 20, there was a casting shakeup! Life & Style rounds up what we know so far about Heidi's departure from the judges' table. While fans may be disappointed that they will no longer see the bubbly judge on AGT, she appears to have left for an exciting reason! She announced her return as host for the upcoming season of Project Runway, which is set to premiere on July 31, 2025. Meanwhile, season 20 of AGT is expected to air its final live show in mid-August 2025. Heidi previously hosted 16 seasons of the popular fashion competition, which highlights amateur stylists as they compete for a cash prize and a mentorship from a major brand. Despite leaving the show in 2018, Heidi revealed that coming back as host has felt like 'coming home.' 'I can do it with my eyes closed, even though I'm judging clothes, so I have to have my eyes open, but I can do it with my eyes closed,' she joked to People in May 2025. 'I just love fashion so much, and I love how interested they are and how they're champing at the bit to get a spot in the fashion industry. So, it's so fun to give them a platform to show what they can do.' Spice Girls alum Mel B – who previously left the show in 2019 – made her own grand return to the judge's table in season 20. 'I'm beyond thrilled to be back at AGT,' she shared in a March 2025 interview with People. 'Not only is it the 20th anniversary of the show, but it's also a real homecoming for me, and I couldn't be happier or more excited to be back.' "So fasten your seatbelts, everyone, because I'm here, and I'm going to stir things up and be my usual loud, proud, Scary Spice self," she added at the time. "This season is going to be unmissable!" Aside from Mel B, comedian Howie Mandel, Modern Family actress Sofía Vergara and AGT executive producer Simon Cowell will serve as the other three judges. Simon, who also helped create the show, said it was 'absolutely brilliant' that the show was coming back for its 20th season. 'Over the years, we have seen some amazing acts and met some truly incredible people. It's true that two or three minutes can change your life,' Simon said earlier this year. 'Now, as always, I am really excited to meet the contestants this year.' The Griselda actress told NBC Insider that she was a little bit 'nervous' about Heidi's departure because they'd been on the show together for so long. However, she immediately formed a bond with Mel B. "It's crazy because we just fit in together,' she said at the time. 'It was, like, wonderful.' Season 20 of AGT premiered on May 27, 2025. Fans can catch new episodes on Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on NBC, or watch it streaming the next day on Peacock.
