Light Blues chiefs want £15million for the Moroccan frontman, with interest hotting up across Europe.
Rennes are believed to be looking for a new hitman, as they aim to improve on last season's 12th-placed finish in Ligue 1.
They have already sold ex-Celtic striker Kyogo to Birmingham after his miserable spell in France.
Boss Habib Beye would love to bring in Igamane, 22, to kick-start his side.
Reports in France claim he's become a 'priority target' for the club.
Now they are set to lose fellow striker, £20m-rated Arnaud Kalimuendo, with Tottenham and Villarreal targeting the frontman.
Lille had agreed terms with Igamane, but there was no official bid.
It's believed they are refusing to meet Gers' hefty asking price.
Igamane scored 16 goals for Rangers last season following his £1.7m move from FAR Rabat.
Everton boss David Moyes has been credited with interest in the hitman for months — and reports in the Netherlands claim Robin van Persie's Feyenoord are also keeping tabs on the situation.

Italian side Udinese have reportedly made intitial contact with Gers, too.
Fellow striker Cyriel Dessers was expected to join AEK Athens weeks ago, but the clubs can't agree a fee.
The Greeks bid £4m, with Gers holding out for £5m.
Both Dessers and Igamane are set to be in the Rangers squad as the Champions League qualifiers get underway tomorrow night.
The Light Blues host Greek giants Panathinaikos in the first leg of their second qualifying round tie at Ibrox.
Having both been slightly behind the rest of the group in pre-season preparations, both strikers got minutes during the Gers' behind closed doors friendly win over Hamilton on Saturday.
The Light Blues won the encounter 2-0 with Danilo grabbing both goals.
The Brazilian striker has been staking his claim to lead the line against Panathinaikos after finding a good run of scoring form.
He also scored one and assisted three goals in a 4-1 win over Dunfermline during the week just gone, having also netted against Barnsley the previous weekend.

Jamie Vardy to Celtic transfer curveball would throw up Mission Impossible scenario for Rangers

But Paul Dickov reckons Celtic would be truly uncatchable if Brendan Rodgers lured the Premier League icon to Parkhead. Vardy, 38, is still a free agent after departing Leicester City as the club's greatest-ever player at the end of last season. The former England goal machine has been linked with the likes of Man United and Newcastle, as well as a transfer north of the border. But ex-Foxes hero Dickov believes the veteran hitman would be a formidable signing for five-in-a-row chasing Celtic. Vardy played under Rodgers at the King Power Stadium and with Celts in the market for more firepower, Dickov has no doubt he would fire the Hoops to title no.56. He told WDW Bingo: "Jamie Vardy at 38, has still got a hell of a lot to offer. He's still got the hunger, and real desire in his game. "I'm sure he has plenty of offers from clubs all over the world, but wherever he chooses will gain a Premier League legend and a wealth of experience. "Aside from his experience, his goal-scoring hasn't slowed down. He scored nine goals last season in a poor Leicester team in the most challenging league in the world, so he will score plenty wherever he moves. "It's difficult to pinpoint where Jamie is going to land, but it could be a real swing in the next couple of seasons of the Scottish Premiership. "If he went to Celtic, it would make it even more difficult for the rest of the teams to catch them. I would go as far as to say borderline impossible. "However, if he chose Rangers, he could really drag them closer to Celtic with the goals he would score. "If he signs for Rangers, Scotland would have a really competitive league next season, which would be great to watch and draw eyes to the games. "That's how big a factor he could be, and people keep talking about his age, but he is chasing down defenders as well as he was ten years ago, from what I can see. "Whoever signs Vardy will have a fantastic asset who will guarantee goals and energy from the front."
