Raiders rookie Ashton Jeanty takes a hit, then delivers one in 22-19 loss to the 49ers
Jake Moody made a 59-yard field goal as time expired for the 49ers (1-1). He also converted a 44-yarder with 37 seconds remaining to tie the game, and then Jaylen Mahoney intercepted Raiders quarterback Cam Miller to set up the winner.
Moody made 5 of 6 field goals while Daniel Carlson made all four of his tries for the Raiders (0-1-1).
Brock Purdy played the first series for the 49ers, which ended in a field goal. He was 5 of 7 for 66 yards. Backup Mac Jones completed 13 of 16 passes for 135 yards with an interception, and former Raider Carter Bradley led the tying and winning drives and finished 8 of 13 for 96 yards.
Star running back Christian McCaffrey did not play for the 49ers.
Geno Smith completed 6 of 8 passes for 55 yards as the Raiders' first-team offense played the first two series. The Raiders scored 10 points on those drives. Aidan O'Connell guided the team into the fourth quarter, finishing 15 of 23 for 138 yards with an interception.
Jeanty was known for his tackle-breaking ability at Boise State, where he was the Heisman Trophy runner-up last season, and he showed that skill against the 49ers.
He took a shot to his right shoulder from 49ers linebacker Tatum Bethune in the first quarter and went into the medical tent. Jeanty emerged from the tent and on the next series ran over San Francisco cornerback Deommodore Lenoir on his way to 13-yard gain. Jeanty topped off the drive by powering his way into the end zone from the 1-yard line.
Jeanty, the sixth pick in the NFL draft, bounced back from an underwhelming performance in his first preseason game. He had minus-1 yard on three carries in a 23-23 tie at Seattle on Aug. 7.
More Niners injures
San Francisco lost three offensive players to injuries in the first half, including starting right guard Dominick Puni, who injured his knee while blocking on a field goal.
Running back Corey Kiner was carted off after injuring an ankle and running back Patrick Taylor Jr. hurt a shoulder.
The 49ers have already experienced plenty of injuries — particularly at wide receiver — in the run-up to the season. They entered the game without roughly 20 players.
GOAT in the building
Tom Brady attended the game, making his latest appearance as a Raiders minority owner. He also attended a practice and a mock game two weeks ago. He entered Allegiant Stadium wearing a white Raiders jacket and black pants.
The seven-time Super Bowl-winning quarterback wasn't the only notable ex-player in the stadium. Eight Hall of Famers — including Marcus Allen, Fred Biletnikoff and Tim Brown — were among several former Raiders given the silver-carpet treatment.

Rattler rallies Saints to a 17-all preseason tie with the Jaguars after Lawrence's productive start
NEW ORLEANS (AP) — Spencer Rattler connected with Dante Pettis for a 20-yard touchdown with 21 seconds left and scrambled for a 2-point conversion to help the New Orleans Saints salvage a 17-17 tie with the Jacksonville Jaguars in a preseason game Sunday. With no overtime in the preseason, the Jaguars crossed midfield in the final seconds — one week after kicker Cam Little made a 70-yard field goal. But Seth Henigan's pass over the middle bounced off of Chandler Brayboy's hands and into the arms of Saints safety Jonas Sanker, whose 40-yard return ended when he was pushed out of bounds at the Jacksonville 24 as time expired. Had Sanker run out of bounds a bit earlier, New Orleans (0-1-1) could have set up for a game-winning kick. Rattler, who relieved rookie Tyler Shough in the second half, went 18 of 24 for 199 yards, one TD and one interception. Mason Tipton, a second-year pro out of Yale, caught six passes for 100 yards, one week after his 54-yard touchdown catch from Shough against the Los Angeles Chargers. Parker Washington caught a 7-yard touchdown pass from Trevor Lawrence and Bayshul Tuten rushed for a 3-yard touchdown for Jacksonville (0-1-1). Lawrence played for two drives and had little trouble moving the offense while going 8 of 10 for 76 yards and a TD. However, his first drive ended with a turnover on the New Orleans 12 when Lawrence tripped as he turned to hand off to Tank Bigsby. The ball squirted loose and defensive lineman Vernon Broughton recovered. Shough, who started for the first time and played the whole first half, went 9 for 12 for 66 yards without a turnover. He led one scoring drive that concluded with Blake Grupe's 51-yard field goal after Chris Olave dropped a third-down pass that could have extended the series. Little converted from 53 yards as the first half ended to make it 17-3, making him 5 for 5 in the preseason, all on kicks longer than 39 yards. Rattler, a second-year pro competing with Shough for the starting spot, took over to start the second half and quickly led New Orleans into field goal range with the help of Christian Braswell's pass interference penalty on a deep pass intended for Tipton. That set up the first of Irishman Charlie Smyth's second-half field goals. The second kick, which made it 17-9, came after Rattler connected with Tipton for 45 yards down the right sideline. The Saints threatened to score one possession before the tying drive, but that series stalled when Rattler was intercepted by Keni-H Lovely at the Jacksonville 7. Jacksonville QB Nick Mullens, who took over for Lawrence in the second quarter, passed for 112 yards and led the Jags to 10 points. Mullens' 26-yard pass to tight end Hunter Long, who made a leaping grab in tight coverage, set up Tuten's TD. But Mullens saw a promising drive end in the third quarter when his pass over the middle was intercepted by Jaylan Ford at the Saints 15. Injuries Jaguars: Heisman Trophy winner and No. 2 overall draft choice Travis Hunter was scratched before the game with what the team has called an upper-body injury. Jaxson Dart's strong preseason hasn't forced the Giants to get ahead of themselves
One play into the New York Giants' fourth possession of their second preseason game, Brian Daboll called in Jaxson Dart without warning. 'Serious?' Dart asked, before making a throw that turned into a 30-yard gain and jogging back to the sideline, with Russell Wilson returning. It was all about putting the rookie quarterback in a situation he could face sooner or later in the NFL. 'You don't know what's going to happen,' Daboll said. 'Just be ready to go when your number's called.' Dart passed that test and has made a strong first impression as a pro since the Giants traded back into the first round to draft him as their potential QB of the future. Completing 13 consecutive passes and 14 of 16 total on Saturday night against the Jets should give the organization and its fans plenty of optimism about what is to come, but it has not changed the plan for Wilson to start and Dart to wait in the wings. 'Russ is our starter, and we're going to keep developing Jaxson,' Daboll said. 'We have a plan. ... We just have to keep working with him and understand there's going to be a lot of downs. I know there's some ups right now, but there's going to be a lot of downs and we just got to keep growing and communicating, just keep getting better.' Daboll, who is going into his fourth season coaching the Giants after getting the gig in part because of his work in Buffalo to develop Josh Allen on the path to becoming league MVP, insists there's a roadmap being followed. He is not exactly forthright about what it looks like. In exhibition game No. 2, it included not just one snap but an entire drive for Dart with the first-team offence. Why? 'Because that was part of the plan,' Daboll deadpanned. Whatever the plan is, and whenever Dart gets his first NFL start, the 22-year-old Mississippi product seems to be on board. 'They've done it with so many other quarterbacks. I trust them in the process,' Dart said. 'I have great guys around me, great coaches who have won and done it at the highest level, so I just look forward to learning each and every day.' Wilson echoed the other side, saying he's willing to keep teaching Dart what he has stockpiled from playing more than a decade in the league, including winning the Super Bowl at what is now their home stadium in the Meadowlands. 'I'm never shy about giving information and talking about it,' Wilson, now 36, said after his own impressive preseason game that included an 80-yard pass play to undrafted free agent Beaux Collins. 'I think (Dart has) done a tremendous job. He definitely has worked at it every day. He works at it every day, and he asks the right questions. That's what I enjoy about him.' Daboll appears to enjoy working with Dart, clearly along with general manager Joe Schoen and college scouts seeing enough that they liked to give up assets to use the 25th pick on the 6-foot-2 righty signal-caller. His stance continues to be that the Giants are trying to 'help Jaxson be the best quarterback he can be,' without many details on what that entails. Part of it is tempering expectations. Barring injury, Wilson will lead New York's offence onto the field for the season opener Sept. 7 at Washington and keep that role for some time. The Giants are trying to exercise patience with Dart and play the long game. 'We spent a lot of time with him, have a lot of confidence in the young man,' Daboll said. 'He's done a good job for us since he's been here in every area you could do — off the field, on the field, leadership, moxie, intelligence — but it's early. We've played a couple preseason games against probably some vanilla looks but he's making strides every day and that's all you can ask of any other young player.'

Eagles acquire Canadian receiver John Metchie III from Texans: report
The Philadelphia Eagles have acquired wide receiver John Metchie III, of Brampton, Ont., from the Houston Texans for veteran tight end Harrison Bryant on Sunday, a person with knowledge of the trade told The Associated Press. The person spoke to the AP on condition of anonymity because the teams haven't announced the deal. CBC Sports has not independently confirmed the report. Bryant had nine catches for 86 yards last season in Las Vegas. He spent his first four seasons in Cleveland. He averaged 22 receptions and 198 yards receiving per season with the Browns. Metchie joins a deep receiving group on the reigning Super Bowl champions led by A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith.
