Robbie Brewer was a beloved short-track racing driver. On Saturday night, August 9, 2025, he suffered a serious medical problem while racing at Bowman Gray Stadium in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
The incident happened in the Sportsman division, with just four laps to go in the first of two scheduled 20-lap races. Brewer's car veered into the wall in turn 4 and he was badly hurt. He was taken to a nearby hospital, and tragically, on Sunday morning his family confirmed he had died at age 53. Brewer's passing shocked the racing world.

His car, which had been running fourth, drifted into the outside wall between turns 3 and 4. It bounced off and hit nearly head-on at the straightaway wall.
Track workers had to cut the roof off to get him out of the car. He was taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital. Reports say that Brewer had a heart attack while inside the car and that caused the crash.

Cameron Norrie struggles in heat during straight-sets loss at Cincinnati Open

Ohio (USA), Aug 11 (UNI) British number two Cameron Norrie is out of the Cincinnati Open after suffering a second-round loss to veteran Roberto Bautista Agut. Norrie recently beat the world number 53 in four sets at Wimbledon, with his first-round win sparking a run to the quarter-finals at the All England Club. As the 32nd seed in Ohio, Norrie had a first-round bye before meeting the 37-year-old Spaniard, but with the temperature passing 30C, he seemed to struggle in the heat on the way to a 6-4 6-3 defeat. Norrie's last outing came at the Canadian Open, where he was beaten by world number 99 Aleksandar Vukic in the second round. He continued his US Open preparations in Cincinnati and Bautista Agut did well to hold his serve following three lengthy games, while breaking Norrie's in the fourth game. When serving at 5-2 down, Norrie was visibly drenched in sweat and changed his shirt prior to deuce before staving off two set points. The 29-year-old then broke back to make it 5-4 - from his sixth break point - but served a double fault in the following game, allowing Bautista Agut to clinch the first set. Norrie continued to look unwell during the second but remained competitive, saving five match points to cut his deficit to 5-3, despite serving three double faults. But Bautista Agut, playing just his second match since Wimbledon, made no mistake on his second match point in the following game. After Montreal, this is the second straight tournament Norrie has fallen at his first hurdle and he has lost three of his five matches since his run at SW19 was halted by world number two Carlos Alcaraz, according to a BBC news. Spain's Alcaraz, who was denied a third straight Wimbledon title in the final by Jannik Sinner, later endured a tricky start to his Cincinnati campaign against world number 56 Damir Dzumhur. The 22-year-old, who has reached the final at his last six tournaments, overcame a mid-match slump to beat his Bosnian opponent 6-1 2-6 6-3. He will face Serb Hamad Medjedovic next. But there was a surprising early exit for 12th seed and 2019 champion Daniil Medvedev as he was beaten 6-7 (0-7) 6-4 6-1 by Australian world number 85 Adam Walton, who recorded his first win over a top-50 opponent. Sixth seed Alex de Minaur also exited on Sunday, with the Australian losing 7-6 (8-6) 6-4 to American Reilly Opelka, the world number 73. In Cincinnati's WTA draw, world number two Coco Gauff cruised past China's Wang Xinyu 6-3 6-2. The American will next face Ukraine's Dayana Yastremska, who beat Viktoriya Tomova of Bulgaria 6-4 2-6 6-2. American fourth seed Jessica Pegula beat Australia's Kimberly Birrell 6-4 6-3, while the seventh seed is also through, with Italy's Jasmine Paolini holding her nerve after two tight sets to beat Maria Sakkari of Greece 7-6 (7-2) 7-6 (7-5). Jaxson Dart excels in NFL debut as New York Giants quarterback, has special moment with mother

Jaxson Dart (via Getty Images) New York Giants rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart had a good first impression in his NFL preseason debut by playing a great game for the Giants against the Buffalo Bills and sharing a special moment with his mother, Kara Dart, following the game. The 25th overall pick of the 2025 NFL Draft completed 12-of-19 for 154 yards and one score, showing poise and confidence in the pocket. Jaxson Dart's poise leads New York Giants to a promising start Head coach Brian Daboll had high praise for Jaxson Dart: 'Efficient, effective, aggressive, confident in the pocket,' he said. 'He's a confident young player. He's improved since he's been here. Still have a long way to go, but I enjoy working with him. I just felt like the only reason that we stopped ourselves from scoring touchdowns was just some of those third downs and not converting.' Viral family moment steals the spotlight Following the last whistle, Jaxson Dart exited the field to hug Kara Dart and other relatives in the stands—a heartwarming moment that immediately circulated on social media. Teammate Tommy DeVito was also a part of the celebration, taking photos with Dart's family. The lucky necklace legend continues Jaxson Dart's close family bond is nothing new. He shared a lighthearted story about borrowing—without asking—a heart-shaped necklace from his younger sister before a college bowl game. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Adam Lambert, 43, Takes off His Makeup and Leaves Us Without Words The Noodle Box Undo 'So, my little sister had it; it was hers,' Dart explained at the time. UFC and Paramount seal historic $7.7 billion streaming deal for 7 years, moving away from ESPN

Dana White, CEO and President of UFC (Image Source: Getty) UFC lands an unprecedented seven-year, US$ 7.7 billion media rights deal with Paramount, boasting the largest agreement in mixed martial arts and sports streaming history. The seven-year media rights deal negotiated by UFC will see the fight promotion depart the pay-per-view arena and transition away from its previous agreement with ESPN, effective from 2026. The deal provides Paramount immediate exclusivity on all UFC events, over 13 major numbered events and 30 weekly Fight Nights, primarily through Paramount+, along with some featured title fights simulcasting on CBS. How the deal reshapes the UFC viewing experience A new deal means that UFC fans will no longer need to cough up for additional premium PPV access for their biggest shows. All UFC content in the U.S., then, would be available through a Paramount+ subscription, but at no extra cost beyond the eventually expected standard Paramount+ subscription costs. That is a huge change from the $500 million per year average under ESPN with a pay-per-view dependent model. UFC President Dana White called the deal a "huge victory for fans and athletes" and said it would lead to "lower prices and wider availability." What the deal means for Paramount's strategy and TKO's global ambitions The deal also marks a bold bet on live sports as a subscriber magnet for Paramount, now run by Skydance. UFC is seen as a 'unicorn sports asset' by CEO David Ellison, which helped plug a big hole in summer programming and strengthen engagement on both linear (CBS) and streaming (Paramount+) platforms. Also Read: Elijah Smith knocks out Toshiomi Kazama unconscious with brutal powerbomb at UFC Vegas 109 The annual average disbursement of about $1.1 billion over seven years highlights the level of capital commitments the company is making toward marquee content. But Paramount also secured rights to create original UFC content that would be on both the cable and streaming platforms, which could demonstrate various aspects of the brand and narrative beyond just live events. The deal highlights an increasing emphasis on global media rights expansion for TKO Group Holdings, UFC's parent company. TKO has shifted gears toward streaming partners that can deliver global scale and reach, and Paramount's infrastructure is certainly capable. Paramount's strategic content shift, supported by Skydance's recent merger and UFC's renewed global streaming orientation, together signal a dramatic new era for MMA content delivery- one based on accessibility, integration, and expansive visibility.
