Gaston Sirino reveals how Kaizer Chiefs can win cup final
Chiefs, however, did open the scoring and had they doubled their lead through a penalty which was not awarded, they could have indeed got one over a highly-fancied Pirates outfit.
Chiefs lost 2-1 to Pirates in the first of two Soweto Derbies in the space of a week, in a result that was widely expected.
Kaizer Chiefs winger Gaston Sirino said his side will take the lessons of their loss to Orlando Pirates over the weekend in the Betway Premiership , when the two sides face-off in the Nedbank Cup final in Durban on Saturday.

Chiefs are currently ninth on the league table, while Pirates are second.
The gulf in class is also apparent at the moment, as Pirates have four cup wins and two runner-up finishes since 2022 under outgoing coach José Riveiro.
Chiefs, in contrast, have not won a single trophy since they were last league champions in the 2014/2015 season.
"Sometimes we play well but don't win, but the final will be a different game...it's a once-off and we know we need to win,' said Sirino.
'Even on Saturday, we played better than Pirates but we lost [after they had scored first], so this time around we need to push more and make sure we control the game better. Sometimes we score and relax, so we need to do away with that.'
Sirino, who won nine trophies with Mamelodi Sundowns in six years with the club before joining Chiefs last year, noted the challenges the Amakhosi have faced.
"I think here [at Chiefs] there's no...[depth]. At Sundowns, there are too many players, all good players... here, there's one injury and another player is also injured and the team is short," Sirino said.

Kaizer Chiefs transfer news: Zajmovic, Baartman, Nabi, new striker
Kaizer Chiefs have made a total of seven new signings this transfer period but expect more to come in the next few weeks. Last week, Amakhosi announced the signing of Asanele Velebayi for free after the PSL Dispute Resolution Chamber (DRC) declared the ex-Cape Town Spurs star a free agent. Another former Spurs player that Chiefs are set to sign is Luke Baartman. The case regarding Baartman is still pending and the PSL should deliver their verdict in the coming days. Amakhosi missed out on former TS Galaxy forward Dzenan Zajmovic. The Serbian striker was linked with Chiefs but has since resurfaced in Iran, signing with Zob Ahan after an impressive season in which he scored 12 goals in all competitions for the Rockets. Zajmovic had been linked with a move to Naturena but ultimately decided to pursue opportunities elsewhere following a period during which he was open to offers from Premier Soccer League clubs. Nigerian striker Etiosa Ighodaro is another option for the Soweot giants. He is contracted with Mamelodi Sundowns but Kaizer Chiefs can sign him on loan before the transfer window closes. The Nigerian spent last season on loan with AmaZulu and is expected to leave Chloorkop in the coming weeks. With the league having kicked off over a week ago, Amakhosi fans are wondering when Nasreddine Nabi will return to the team. The Chiefs coach left the country to attend his wife just before the Betway Premiership started. The club have not announced his return. 'How Kaizer Chiefs worked on their weakness'
Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Thabo Cele has highlighted some problems the team has to fix this season. Despite winning their opening two matches, the 28-year-old midfield maestro feels the team is far from perfect this season. Amakhosi are joint top of the Betway Premiership with six points and could be three points clear if they defeat Richards Bay on Tuesday. 'Our problem has been conceding on transitions, so we are trying to be in control, especially in the opponents' half more so that we can create more opportunities and maintain control in the opponents' half,' Cele told the media. 'Those are the things we are trying to improve on tactically. Playing for this club, the expectations will always be there, and we are here because we want to handle the expectations and feed people what they are expecting, which is good results.' The Kaizer Chiefs midfielder has also pointed out the team's impressive defence this season as they are yet to concede. 'Obviously, not everything will be perfect, and we are trying to improve in how we play and how we create opportunities, and how we maintain not conceding after having not conceded in the two games. We are trying to minimise teams from creating opportunities against us, and then us creating more. It is important for a team like us to win home games. It will help even improve the numbers at the stadium because FNB is a huge stadium. 'For us, getting good results and performances are going to bring a better atmosphere. We want teams to feel it is our home, so it is important. I think in every position it is important to have competition. It makes us better. ' 'If you look at our games, we have a lot of games, so we need that squad depth in every position. Obviously, with the midfield you can see that there is that depth and competition which is healthy for the team. Playing in so many competitions, we want to compete everywhere, so it is important for the squad to have depth,' Cele added.
