Channel 4 star reveals truth behind Sex Experiment vomiting scene
Channel 4's reality series Open House: The Great Sex Experiment sees couples try to open up their relationships to include other partners – with mixed results.
The series began in 2022 and recently aired its third season, which ran for eight episodes across May and June and came to a close on last Friday night.
In the third season, Devon couple Tom and Lauren were one of several pairs who tried out the risky but potentially exciting experiment on Channel 4.
However, things didn't quite go to plan, with Tom and Lauren making headlines when Tom threw up after chatting to the show's relationship coach Effy Blue.
During the episode broadcast on June 13, the couple agreed to take things to another level in the bedroom after a candid discussion with non-monogamy expert Effy.
She told the couple that they would need to have sexual experiences without each other, before Tom was shown looking disoriented before going off-camera to be sick.
Tom's retching over the bathroom sink could be heard from the bedroom, where Lauren was waiting, asking her partner if he needed a glass of water to help soothe his throat.
'This is going to be horrible,' Tom is then heard saying, before Lauren admitted that she 'just wanted to cuddle' him after the pair were given the difficult instructions.
However, the couple have now set the record straight (via MailOnline), saying that the cause for Tom's unfortunate episode was not what viewers might think.
'So Tom throwing up, they actually cut the scene,' Lauren said. 'So, that was actually because he had to be a life drawing model.'
Tom admitted to the publication that he was 'really nervous' and that he 'got so overwhelmed' by the prospect of being a naked still life model that it got the better of him.
After getting off to a bad start – with Lauren confessing that she was worried about coming across as an 'experienced sex pest' – the couple thanked the show for helping with their relationship struggles. More Trending
Tom lives with a condition called bicuspid aortic valve, a congenital heart defect that means the heart valve doesn't work properly – the couple were concerned at how their management of Tom's condition in relation to their sex life would be portrayed.
However, Tom now says, 'We're both more confident in going out to parties, and we're much closer as a couple,' while Lauren says their sessions in conversation with Effy were 'really helpful'.
Tom concluded: 'Going on Open House has helped me massively, and it's also helped out a lot of other people as well. I've been getting lots of good feedback from other people.'

BBC Breakfast star warned by friend she was becoming too 'fame-obsessed'
BBC Breakfast's Steph McGovern has said her friend was forced to have a word with her after she started to let the fame of being a TV presenter get to her. The 43-year-old stepped into the broadcasting role at the Beeb after first answering the phones for Radio 4's Money Box while at university. She went on to become a current affairs researcher at the BBC and then the producer of the financial news on the Today programme, before stepping in front of the camera for BBC Breakfast. The ex-business reporter and host of former Channel 4 show Steph's Packed Lunch has now spoken about the effect that being recognised in public had on her early in her career. McGovern told The Times she 'fell for' the buzz of presenting and the fame that came with her position, so much so her friend Rach ended up saying something. She told the publication: 'I was in a restaurant not long after I'd got the job and a group of blokes sent over a bottle of champagne to my table, like, 'Whey! Doing it for the northerners'. 'People were always getting photos and stuff, which was really lovely, but my mate was like, 'You are turning into a bit of a nob'. 'Everywhere we went I was, 'Ooh, I wonder if I'll get recognised'. And she'd be like, 'Ah, shut up. Come on'. When she said it I thought, 'I don't want to be a TV nob'. And I went, 'You're right'.' More Trending McGovern also spoke about being more careful about what she shares online now, ever since she discovered she had a stalker while presenting on the BBC. The presenter says she was 'oversharing' at the time and now never discusses her partner and doesn't post her location or photos of her house. McGovern's flagship Channel 4 daytime show came to an end in 2023, after the broadcaster axed it due to low viewership. View More » Since then, she appeared in Netflix's Celebrity Bear Hunt, which pitted a bunch of celebs against the wiles of Bear Grylls and saw McGovern finish a finalist. She also hosts The Rest Is Money podcast with Robert Peston. Got a story? 'This Trinny London launch let me down and then won me over'
Here's why the Miracle Halo illuminator is shopping writer Lauren's go-to summer product All my fellow beauty girlies will know the joys of Trinny London, the eponymous brand from makeover queen Trinny Woodall. Known for its clever, stackable pots and ultra-wearable formulas, Trinny London has carved out a loyal following for products that are equal parts practical and glow-inducing. I've been lucky enough to try a fair few of the brand's cult favourites over the years (for the record, Lash2Brow is my holy grail), so when I heard about the launch of its newest product, Miracle Halo, I was excited to give it a go. The latest drop is a radiance-boosting illuminator designed to provide skin that lit-from-within glow, wearable on its own or easily mixed in with moisturiser and foundation. Now that summer is in full swing, I avoid foundation as it doesn't hold up when the heat hits. But that doesn't mean I'm willing to sacrifice a flawless complexion, so I'm hoping Miracle Halo could be the lightweight alternative I've been searching for. Scroll down to see how I fared - and whether this glow-giver has earned a permanent spot in my summer makeup routine. My honest review of Trinny London's Miracle Halo Miracle Halo comes in Trinny London's signature sleek silver packaging, giving it a luxe feel that far exceeds its £32 price tag. It looks good sitting on my vanity, which is always a plus. There are four shades available: Starlight, Candlelight, Sunlight, and Firelight. I opted for the latter, a gentle neutral bronze. Since I regularly wear fake tan, I figured it would give me that post-holiday glow. Shop the look £32 Trinny London Buy Now on Trinny London Product Description However, I'll admit that things didn't get off to the best start. The pump, unfortunately, is a bit of a menace. I was hoping for a controlled dose, but instead, one press dispensed way too much product - more than I'll ever need in one go - which was a massive waste. I worried I was being too heavy-handed, so I tried again when I needed a subtle highlight to accentuate my cheekbones, but the same thing happened. It's definitely a product where less is more, and the pump didn't seem to have received the memo. For those who prefer to avoid pump mishaps, I recommend Fenty Beauty's Liquid Killawatt Fluid Freestyle Highlighter (£26). It comes in a squeezable tube, making it a much better option for controlled use. Otherwise, a powder highlighter, such as MAC's Mineralize Skinfinish Highlighter (£34), is a good alternative. I also had a moment of panic that Firelight was too dark for my skin tone, even with my tan. But, as with many things in beauty, first impressions can be deceiving. I decided to mix a couple of small dabs of Miracle Halo into my favourite Laneige moisturiser, and this is where things turned around. The product blended beautifully into my skin; it's incredibly lightweight, to the point where I couldn't even feel it on my face. That's exactly what I want during the warmer months when foundation can feel like a sweat-fest. The glow it gives is subtle but effective - more of a healthy, sun-kissed boost than a noticeable shimmer, which makes it ideal for no-makeup makeup days. After layering on my usual bronzer, blush and concealer, everything sat perfectly on top. Miracle Halo acted like a glowing base, pulling everything together and giving my skin that elusive 'well-rested look' I'm always chasing. To finish, I applied a little more highlight to my cheekbones, and it made them pop, giving them a glowy, dewy look. I looked radiant and put-together, without the heavy feel of a full face. A little really does go a long way with this product, so despite the pump situation, this tube will last me all summer (and then some). Though I'll definitely need to figure out a way to control the pump so I'm not wasting precious drops of glow each time. Despite the rocky start, Miracle Halo has firmly earned a spot in my summer lineup. If you're after an easy, breathable glow without the weight of foundation, this one's well worth a try.
