Op Sindoor let military test several systems, proved country's 'atmanirbharta': Maj-Gen Bagga

Time of India28-07-2025
Operation Sindoor
gave the armed forces the opportunity to test several systems such as Akash and BrahMos missiles, due to which India's '
atmanirbharta
', or self-reliance in the defence sector, "got proven", General Officer Commanding (GOC) of Golden Katar Division
Major General Gaurav Bagga
said on Monday.
Operation Sindoor was launched on May 7 in retaliation to the April 22 Pahalgam attack, leading to terror infrastructure in Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir and Pakistan getting decimated.

Of the nine targets chosen for being the command and control centres of the terrorists, seven targets were destroyed by
Indian Army
, while two were destroyed by
Indian Air Force
with precision strikes, neutralizing 102 terrorists, said Bagga, who was addressing a gathering on Operation Sindoor at Rashtriya Raksha University in Gandhinagar.
"Atmanirbharata was proven (in this operation). A lot of systems (which) were never tested, they got tested. Akash was made, (but) was never tested. Now they have gone through one operation and they have been pretty successful.
BrahMos missile
, jointly manufactured with Russia, (but) never tested on our own condition. (Now) it got tested. S-400 (air defence system) bought, deployed, never tested. It got tested," the major general pointed out.
Bagga, who was part of the operation, added that scores of drone and
anti-drone systems
that were in trial stages also got tested.

"Operation Sindoor has had a very very positive spin-off for the armed forces...Essentially what it did was it brought the nation together and demonstrated to this country how robust your armed forces are," he asserted.
"Operation Sindoor is not finished. It is in progress. And any act of terrorism declared by the government will be considered as an act of war. If something happens tonight, there will be a reprisal," he said.
Referring to the Pahalgam terrorist attack, Bagga said whenever Pakistan is in turmoil, its army causes trouble in India.
Pakistan is the only country where the "army owns a nation" instead of the government controlling the army, he opined.
"They (army) run the country, no matter whether there is democracy or not. Their entire rhetoric and their existence remain anti-India. Otherwise people (of Pakistan) would start questioning the use of the army. So they (army) will foment trouble here, so that they remain relevant in their country," said Bagga.
While India hit only terror infrastructure (during Operation Sindoor), the Pakistan army started targeting religious places, military stations and places of no consequence, he said.
"Thanks to our air defence system, Pakistan could not hit or damage any of India's military infrastructure," he pointed out.

Pak Issues 4 Threats To India Amid U.S. Tensions; 'Will Teach You A Lesson If Indus Waters...'

Pakistan's Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has issued a stern warning to India, vowing that not even a single drop of his country's share of river water will be taken. The statement comes amid heightened tensions after India suspended the Indus Waters Treaty in April following the deadly Pahalgam terror attack. Sharif's threat marks the fourth hostile message from Pakistan in just 48 hours, following remarks from Army Chief Asim Munir and other leaders. The 1960 World Bank-brokered treaty has been a key water-sharing agreement, now in abeyance over Pakistan's alleged role in terror activities in Kashmir. Sharif cautioned that any attempt to block the flow of water would have serious repercussions for regional peace.#IndiaPakistanTensions #ShehbazSharif #IndusWatersTreaty #AsimMunir #IndiaNews #PakistanNews #WaterWar #BreakingNews #PahalgamAttack #Modi #Kashmir #Geopolitics

Rafale warriors of Ambala: 100 days after Operation Sindoor precision strikes

A hundred days after Operation Sindoor, India Today gained exclusive access to the Ambala Air Force Station in Haryana — home to the Golden Arrows squadron of Rafale fighter jets that played a decisive role in the recent military conflict with May 7, in retaliation for the Pahalgam terror attack that killed 26 civilians, the Indian Air Force launched precision strikes under Operation Sindoor. From Ambala's runway, Rafales crossed into hostile skies, destroying nine terror launch pads in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir and killing over 100 subsequent missions, they targeted more than a dozen Pakistani air bases, marking the first time in combat history such coordinated long-range strikes were carried out by the Air Force. Commanding Officer Amit Ghiyani told India Today, "Rafale is an ultra advanced weapon platform — a 4.5 generation fighter aircraft. It fulfilled all the responsibilities it was assigned with during Operation Sindoor. One should not doubt the aircraft's capabilities. It is fully equipped to take on jets like J-10 or J-35".The Rafale, procured from France under a 2016 deal, joined service in 2019 and became fully operational in India by country now has two complete squadrons. Described as a 4.5-generation, twin-engine, omni-role fighter, it can switch between air-to-air combat, ground strikes, and reconnaissance in a single features include the Meteor missile, capable of engaging targets beyond 150 km; the SCALP cruise missile for precision strikes over 300 km away; and the SPECTRA electronic warfare suite for jamming, threat detection, and a top speed of Mach 1.8, a combat radius exceeding 1,000 km, and the ability to operate in any weather, the Rafale offers unmatched Today learnt that these capabilities were put to full use during Operation Sindoor. From targeting fortified terror camps to striking heavily defended air bases, the Rafales demonstrated accuracy and survivability in hostile Thales targeting pod ensured pinpoint strikes even in poor visibility, while aerial refuelling extended mission Ambala's Golden Arrows, the success of Operation Sindoor is not just a military achievement but a clear signal of India's enhanced strike days later, the mission's impact continues to shape India's airpower edge — with the Rafale firmly established as the Air Force's most potent combat asset.- EndsTune InMust Watch

Our relationship with both India and Pakistan is ‘good': US

America's relationship with both India and Pakistan is 'good', the US State Department has said, asserting that the diplomats are 'committed to both nations'. Speaking at a briefing on Tuesday, State Department spokesperson Tammy Bruce said that the US working with both nations is good news for the region and the world, and will promote a beneficial future. 'I would say that our relationship with both nations is as it has been, which is good. And that is the benefit of having a President who knows everyone, talks to everyone, and that is how we can bring differences together in this case. So it's clear that the diplomats here are committed to both nations,' Bruce said. She was responding to a question on the possibility of increased US assistance to Islamabad in terms of arms sales following Pakistan Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir's meeting with Trump, and whether this was coming at the cost of Trump's relationship with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Referring to the May conflict between India and Pakistan, Bruce added, 'Obviously, we had an experience with Pakistan and India when there was a conflict, one that could have developed into something quite horrible.' She said that there was 'immediate concern and immediate movement' with Vice President J D Vance, President Trump and Secretary of State Marco Rubio in 'addressing the nature of what was happening….we described the nature of the phone calls, the work that we did to stop the attacks and to then bring the parties together so we could have something that was enduring.' She also claimed that top leaders in the US were involved in 'stopping that potential catastrophe.' New Delhi has been maintaining that India and Pakistan halted their military actions following direct talks between their militaries without any mediation by the US. Bruce added that the recent peace agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan 'follows negotiated peace arrangements between Cambodia and Thailand, Israel and Iran, Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of the Congo, India and Pakistan, Egypt and Ethiopia and Serbia and Kosovo.' Meanwhile, in an interview on Tuesday, Rubio said that 'credit goes to' Trump for helping bring several conflicts around the world to an end. Trump says he wants 'to be the President of peace. And so any time we see a conflict where we think we can make a difference, we get involved, and we've had good success in that regard. India-Pakistan, Thailand-Cambodia, the peace deal with Azerbaijan and Armenia, just a few days ago,' he said in an interview with 'Sid and Friends in the Morning'.
